Purpose of this Manual
1. 2 Special hazards
WARNING: Toxic and caustic substances in parts in contact with sample
gas.
Depending on sample gas composition, RM210 parts in contact with the sam-
ple gas as well as the upstream gas path can contain toxic and caustic sub-
stances.
‡ Before performing any work on the gas path obtain information concerning
the gases that have been fed to the RM210.
‡ Obtain information as to whether, and then how, the RM210 gas path has
been cleaned.
‡ If necessary, clean the gas path with a suitable method.
‡ In case of doubt, take appropriate protective measures before working on
the gas path: Ensure adequate ventilation at the workplace or work under a
vent. Wear protective goggles or a safety mask, protective gloves and acid-
proof protective clothes.

Detailed description
3 .1 Regular Maintenance
The RM210 is designed for long-term, low-maintenance operation. The following section
describes the maintenance procedures. In addition, you are advised to clean and inspect
the entire system on a regular basis, as well as ensure that it is not damaged, corroded, or
defective in any way.
Snap locks
Hose clamps
Purge-air fan
Purge-air
hose
Procedure
‡ Make sure to have the new filter ready to be inserted.
‡ To avoid drawing in dust while cleaning the filter housing, disconnect the hose from the
filter outlet.
‡ Remove dust from the outside of the filter housing.
Filter insert
Snap locks
‡ Remove the filter housing cover by applying pressure to the snap locks to unlock it.
‡ Twist the filter insert counter-clockwise to remove it.
‡ Clean the filter housing and housing cover with a cloth and brush.
You must only use a cloth soaked in water to wet-clean the components.
Dry thoroughly.
3.3.4 Checking the under-pressure monitor and differential pressure monitor (option)
‡ Check the under-pressure monitor on the purge-air unit filter to ensure that it works
properly.
‡ To do this activate the under-pressure monitor by holding the filter intake glands
shut for a short time.
‡ If installed, check the differential pressure monitor at the purge-air gland of the RM210
purge-air attachment.
‡ When the purge-air supply is interrupted for a short time, the differential pressure mon-
itor should be activated.
‡ Replace defective monitors.
3.3.6 Cleaning the boundary surfaces of the sender/receiver unit and check the
optional fail safe shutter (FSS)
RM210 sender/receiver
unit
‡ Remove any dirt from the exterior the sender/receiver unit housing.
‡ Observing appropriate safety precautions, open the light absorber cover and clean the
interior of the light absorber (e.g. using a long-handled brush). For a detailed explana-
tion of the mounting steps.
Close the fail safe shutter (option)
Two possibilities to activate the optional FSS
1. Possibility: use the auxiliary relay S1 using the recommended wiring (example) and soft-
ware version M250 V.26.0 (or newer); order no. 2016840
‡ Activate the auxiliary relay S1 to switch off the power supply for the fail-safe shutter
(FSS).
The FSS closes. Leave the purge-air unit and measuring system on.
Wait 30 s for the FSS to close fully.

2. Possibility: use a motor switch of the purge-air unit if the faile safe shutter is connected
to the power supply of the purge air unit.
‡ Activate the motor switch to switch off the power supply for the fail-safe shutter
(FSS).
The FSS closes. Leave the measuring system on.
Wait 30 s for the FSS to close fully.
