13. In a departmental store, a customer X purchase 2 packets of tea, 4 kg of rice and 4 dozen
oranges. Customer Y purchase 1 packet of tea, 5 kg of rice and 24 oranges. Price of one pack of tea
is Rs. 54, 1 kg of rice is Rs. 22 and that of 1 dozen oranges is Rs.24. Use matrix multiplication method
and calculate each individual bill.
14. To raise money for an orphanage, students of three schools A,B and C organized an exhibition in
their locality, where they sold paper- bags, scarp-books and pastel-sheets made by them using
recycled paper, at the rate of Rs.20, Rs.15 and Rs. 5 per unit respectively. School A sold 25 paper-
bags, 12 scrap-books and 34 pastel sheets. School B sold 22 paper-bags, 25 scrap-books and 28
pastel sheet while school C sold 26 paper-bags, 18 scrap books and 36 pastel sheets. Using matrices,
find the total amount raised by each school. By scuh exhibitions which values are inculated in the
students?
15. The department of education runs 120 colleges and 15 universities havinga strength of 300
lectureers, 100 readers and 50 professors in the universities and 5000 lecturers and 1000 readers in
colleges. The monthly salary is Rs. 9000 for professors, and Rs. 8000 for readers and Rs.5000 for
lecturers. Find the monthly salary bill in the colleges and universities.
16. Sum of three numbrs is 20. If we multiply the first by 2, add the second and subtract the third
we get 23. If we multiply first by 3 and add second and third to it we get 46. Find the numbers.

28. Ashok , Ramesh and Ravi are friends. Ashok need 5 note books, 3 pen and 2 pencils. Ramesh
need 7 note books. 5 pen and a pencil. Ravi needs 4 note books , 2 pen and 5 pencils. They require
the prices in the three shops A, B and C. In shops Rs. 12 for a note book, Rs. 8 for a pen and Rs.2 for
a pencil. In a s oop B, the respecive process are Rs. 11m Rs. 9 and Rs. 3. In shop C, it is Rs.15, Rs. 6
and Rs.4 respectively. Express the above information into two matrices P and Q. Find PQ and thus
prepare an estimate.
