BASIC COMPUTER APPLICATION SHORT COURSE
ASSESSMENT TEST 1 MARCH 2024 [PRACTICAL] TIME; 2 : 00 HRS
Instructions; This paper consists of four (4) questions Answer all questions in both parts. Remember to maintain the time allocated above, no extra time will be added.
1. a) Properly and carefully use the computer peripherals and cables
available on the table to disconnect your desk top computer ,then reconnect it again; b) Mention all types (names) of cable you have used in process (a) above. c) outline all computer peripherals(hardware) you have used in process (a) above d) What are the precautions may you need to observe during the process of connection and disconnection in (a) above? ( three points) 2. Read the following steps systematically then answer the questions that you have been asked; STEP 1; Make sure that the system unit and the monitor are properly connected to the power source ; Turn the wall sockets then identify the power button on the system unit or on the laptop computer. STEP 2; Push the power button ; On some computer the button lights up when the computer is on .On some laptops there is often a light on button that comes on . You may have to keep pushing for a few seconds to make this happen. STEP 3; Wait for computer to boot until you see login screen on the monitor. STEP 4; If your computer is password protected enter your current username and password; After seeing the desktop you can start using the computer. STEP 5; Click the window start menu then click the power tab and finally click the “shutdown” tab. Questions ; a) What does step1 up to step 4 teach you? b) What does step 5 teach you? 3. i) Observe well the “attached paper (a)” ,then use the appropriate program(application) to design your own work similar to that you see in “attached paper (a)” ii) Save your work as “ my design 1” iii) Create a new folder on desktop ,rename it with your name then save your work in it. iv) Set you’re your work to fit in A4 paper size then print out your work. v) Name the program you have used to design your work. vi) Explain why have you choose such a program to design your work. 4.i) Observe well the “attached paper (b)” then choose the appropriate program or application from your computer to design your own work which is similar to that in “attached paper (b)” ii) Use the formula to fill the column named TOTAL, AVERAGE and POSITION iii) Save your work as “my design 2” then save it to the folder you created in {Qn 3. iii) above.} iv) Set your work in paper size A4 then print it. v) Name the program you have used to design your work . vi) Was the program suitable during your design?
