Flexible and scalable system design:
Industrial PC controller for the WAGO*SYSTEM.
The decentralization of industrial automation solutions requires that increasingly intelligent devices be used
as part of your long term control strategy. The 750 Series WAGO%IPC uses embedded PC technology
to seamlessly tie the industrial automation (PLC) and IT (PC) worlds together. Now, decentralized control,
connection to popular fieldbuses, as well as recording, analyzing, and measuring data can be accomplished
easily, with large amounts of data and in short time perionds.
Whether using the universal IEC 61131-3 soft PLC programming tool, WAGO%PRO or application
specific software, the IPC provides a powerful platform for any application and ensures the long term inte-
grity of your automation and control strategy.

The WAGO 750 Series Programmable Ethernet Controllers provide direct communication of all signal types via a
versatile network, such as a LAN or WAN. In addition to being an Ethernet data server, the controllers offer
more programming power than a PLC. Therefore, optimizing the advantages of decentralized control with open
Ethernet communication.
The compiling of local user programs and configuring of the communication network is developed, in compliance
with IEC 61131-3, using WAGO% PRO. Additionally, user specific client/server applications can be pro-
grammed via the API socket.

쎱 Facility management
Energy management tasks, heating, air conditioning, lighting control,
security,...:WAGO Ethernet controllers supports the complete range
of applications in building automation using pre-programmed func-
tion blocks. Decentralized solutions are possible for complex control
or monitoring tasks minimizing network communication. Error messa-
ges with time stamps can be cost effectively sent via SMTP (e-mail),
control commands or wireless signals via SMS. Open communication
interfaces (Modbus/TCP, HTTP, SOAP, e-mail...) provide an easy net-
working connection to engineered building systems.

E business platforms can directly access process and configuration
data of the controllers. SNMP protocols allow access to real-time
production data. This makes it possible to analyze business transac-
tions and optimize the systems potential. Error and diagnostic mes-
sages from the production or office environment (USV, air-conditio-
ning, access control etc.) can be transmitted to the network admini-
strator without delay, thus minimizing down times.
Using WAGO 750 Series Ethernet controllers allows complete automation of building
communication and control functions. The modular design of this system makes even
the most difficult applications easy to design and configure. In addition, a tremen-
dous amount of hard and soft costs associated with building wiring can be elimina-
ted.
The WAGO 750 Series Ethernet controller not only fulfills the communication re-
quirements, but also performs the lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
control tasks. Through the use of Ethernet switches with master/slave controllers from
WAGO, each floor of the building can be grouped as zones. This guarantees the
availability of space for sub-routines, extremely fast response time, and reduces the
amount of data on the network backbone.
Ethernet allows direct access of data from anywhere in the world. For example, the
system integrator/administrator is able to display information directly on the work-
station for system commissioning or performing maintenance, alarm messages from
the HVAC system are sent via email or SMS, and program modifications can be
made online. All of which save time and money, as well as optimizes service.
In addition, web browsers offer a simple, standardized user interface. The user can
perform all control tasks directly from his or her workplace via user specific web
pages stored in the 750 Series Ethernet controller. The feature eliminates the need
for installation and maintenance of additional software tools, thereby further redu-
cing the overall cost of the building automation system.

Power generation, distribution and monitoring:
Automation concepts for the
decentralized energy industry
Whether wind power, hydroelectric power, fuel cells, or solar power - traditional and alter-
native energy sources require efficient, open-architecture control systems to fully automate
and manage the process of power generation and distribution. In addition, the control
system must also allow for remote access to central monitoring and management tasks.
The WAGO 750 Series Ethernet controller combines all control functions and
information technology into one complete system solution. The modular design of the
WAGO%System allows the combination of analog, digital, power, and serial signals
to be communicated via Ethernet and standard software interfaces. The result is an
extremely flexible and cost effective system featuring tremendous advantages in system
design, commissioning, and service. Deregulation has created a competitive environment
and many utilities are upgrading their facilities so they operate more efficiently.
The competitive nature of the deregulated energy industry is leading
the way to more efficient operation of the power
generation process. The 750 Series Ethernet
controller allows optimal control of the energy
system – with or without local technicians.
System errors are communicated quickly via
email and faults are eliminated immediately
with online programming changes via the web.
All of these features contribute heavily to
increased output and efficient operation of the
power generation and distribution process.

Port number
The port number, together with the IP address, forms an unambi-
guous connection point between two processes (applications).
Predictable ETHERNET
The delay time of a message on an ETHERNET network can be
predicted. The measures which have been taken in predictable
ETHERNET make it possible to virtually realize realtime require-
BootP ments.
The bootstrap protocol is a protocol which specifies how system RJ45 connector
and network information is to be transmitted from a server to Also referred to as a Western connector. This connector allows
work stations. the connection of two network controllers via twisted pair cables.
Bridge Segment
A bridge is similar to a switch, but has only one output. Bridges Typically, a network is divided up into different physical network
devide a network into segments and allow the number of nodes segments by way of routers or repeaters.
to be expanded. A bridge can also filter out damaged data.
Telegrams can only be sent when both the node and the target SMTP
address are included within the connected segment. The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol is a TCP protocol used to send
Deterministic ETHERNET e-mail from mail client to mail server (SMTP server) and between
the mail servers.
The ETHERNET data is transferred at a defined time constant. The
ETHERNET network can be defined and calculated. A Switched SNMP
ETHERNET architecture makes this possible. The Simple Network Managment Protocol is a UDP protocol used
DHCP for the central management and the control of network compo-
nents.
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is used to configure
computers on a TCP/IP network automatically, centrally and uni- SOAP
formly. It provides dynamic assignment of IP addresses from a Simple Object Access Protocol. SOAP is a XML/HTTP-based pro-
pool of addresses. tocol for object-oriented communication.
DNS Socket
Domain Name Service. Is a software interface introduced with BSD-UNIX for inter-
ETHERNET process communication. Sockets are also possible in the network
via TCP/IP.
Specifies a Local Area Network (LAN), which was developed by
Xeros, Intel and DEC in the 70‘s. Subnet mask
EtherNet/IP The subnet mask can be used to manipulate the address areas in
the IP address with reference to the number of subnets and sub-
EtherNet Industrial Protocol, see www.odva.org. scribers. A standard subnet mask is, for example, 255.255.255.0.
