The WAGO 750 Series Programmable Ethernet Controllers provide direct communication of all signal types via a
versatile network, such as a LAN or WAN. In addition to being an Ethernet data server, the controllers offer
more programming power than a PLC. Therefore, optimizing the advantages of decentralized control with open
Ethernet communication.

The compiling of local user programs and configuring of the communication network is developed, in compliance
with IEC 61131-3, using WAGO% PRO. Additionally, user specific client/server applications can be pro-
grammed via the API socket.

쎱 Facility management
Energy management tasks, heating, air conditioning, lighting control,
security,...:WAGO Ethernet controllers supports the complete range
of applications in building automation using pre-programmed func-
tion blocks. Decentralized solutions are possible for complex control
or monitoring tasks minimizing network communication. Error messa-
ges with time stamps can be cost effectively sent via SMTP (e-mail),
control commands or wireless signals via SMS. Open communication
interfaces (Modbus/TCP, HTTP, SOAP, e-mail...) provide an easy net-
working connection to engineered building systems.

쎱 Remote maintenance via standard user interfaces (e.g. HTTP)

The WAGO Ethernet controllers have integrated Web servers
allowing status inquiry, commissioning, and configuration from all
over the world via standard network connections.

It is possible to implement user-specific HTML pages, as well as have

password-protected read/write access to process data. You can
benefit from these services from any PC in the world using a Web
browser.

쎱 Process control and visualization

A direct connection for vertical integration: Modbus /TCP and
Ethernet/IP offer standard communication interfaces for (soft)/PLCs,
process control and visualization systems worldwide. Interoperability
with components from many manufacturers is guaranteed.

Modbus /TCP/UDP features minimal configuration effort and is sui-

table for fast cyclic data exchange (”Polling”) as well as for event-
driven ”Peer-to-Peer” or ”Broadcast” messages. The use of switches
allows for deterministic system behavior.

E business platforms can directly access process and configuration
data of the controllers. SNMP protocols allow access to real-time
production data. This makes it possible to analyze business transac-
tions and optimize the systems potential. Error and diagnostic mes-
sages from the production or office environment (USV, air-conditio-
ning, access control etc.) can be transmitted to the network admini-
strator without delay, thus minimizing down times.

쎱 Production data acquisition / Measurement data logging

Decentralized analysis for production and measurement data, with
time stamps, is possible. Using FTP, the data packets can be uploa-
ded, and parameters/recipes can be downloaded by the controller.
Numerous interfaces (digital, analog, counting, measuring, commu-
nication) are available for data acquisition and data output. In addi-
tion, barcode scanners or printers can be easily connected.

쎱 Decentralized machine control

The fieldbus controllers allow the implementation of completely
decentralized control networks. Distributed intelligence supersedes
centralized control architecture. Every controller undertakes a sub-
task in the overall process, which can therefore be gradually added
into the operation. The result is optimal time behavior of the sub-
tasks. For cyclic or event driven communication, Modbus/TCP or
Modbus/UDP are an ideal solution. Communication between nodes
can be defined using WAGO%PRO. The use of switches allows
for deterministic and predictable behavior. Other components such
as operator interfaces, drives, etc. can be easily integrated into the
concept.

Communication and control without limits:
Building automation with
Ethernet.
Availability of data at any time or place is becoming more important in intelligent,
decentralized control networks. While fieldbus technology has made great strides in
this area, today’s building automation system requires true open architecture commu-
nication and Ethernet is meeting this demand.

Using WAGO 750 Series Ethernet controllers allows complete automation of building
communication and control functions. The modular design of this system makes even
the most difficult applications easy to design and configure. In addition, a tremen-
dous amount of hard and soft costs associated with building wiring can be elimina-
ted.

The WAGO 750 Series Ethernet controller not only fulfills the communication re-
quirements, but also performs the lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
control tasks. Through the use of Ethernet switches with master/slave controllers from
WAGO, each floor of the building can be grouped as zones. This guarantees the
availability of space for sub-routines, extremely fast response time, and reduces the
amount of data on the network backbone.

Ethernet allows direct access of data from anywhere in the world. For example, the
system integrator/administrator is able to display information directly on the work-
station for system commissioning or performing maintenance, alarm messages from
the HVAC system are sent via email or SMS, and program modifications can be
made online. All of which save time and money, as well as optimizes service.

In addition, web browsers offer a simple, standardized user interface. The user can
perform all control tasks directly from his or her workplace via user specific web
pages stored in the 750 Series Ethernet controller. The feature eliminates the need
for installation and maintenance of additional software tools, thereby further redu-
cing the overall cost of the building automation system.

Power generation, distribution and monitoring:
Automation concepts for the
decentralized energy industry
Whether wind power, hydroelectric power, fuel cells, or solar power - traditional and alter-
native energy sources require efficient, open-architecture control systems to fully automate
and manage the process of power generation and distribution. In addition, the control
system must also allow for remote access to central monitoring and management tasks.
The WAGO 750 Series Ethernet controller combines all control functions and
information technology into one complete system solution. The modular design of the
WAGO%System allows the combination of analog, digital, power, and serial signals
to be communicated via Ethernet and standard software interfaces. The result is an
extremely flexible and cost effective system featuring tremendous advantages in system
design, commissioning, and service. Deregulation has created a competitive environment
and many utilities are upgrading their facilities so they operate more efficiently.
The competitive nature of the deregulated energy industry is leading
the way to more efficient operation of the power
generation process. The 750 Series Ethernet
controller allows optimal control of the energy
system – with or without local technicians.
System errors are communicated quickly via
email and faults are eliminated immediately
with online programming changes via the web.
All of these features contribute heavily to
increased output and efficient operation of the
power generation and distribution process.

Communication model (telecontrol concept)

The data exchange is accomplished by imple-
menting a SOAP server (Simple Object Access
Protocol) in the controller. Object-oriented com-
munication allows the formation of intraprocess
functional units. The system design becomes
independent and flexible through standardized
interfaces. Due to a text-oriented programming
language (XML) SOAP provides an easy to use
interface which is optimized for remote access
via a Web browser.
