Guessing game
1. Ask the student a question about what graduation gift they want.
2. Let the students share their answer in class.
C. Analysis:
The teacher will ask:
1. How to formulate evaluative statements?
2. What is assertion/counterclaims
3. How do we know if the statement is an assertion or counterclaim?
D. Abstraction:
The teacher will explain what an evaluative statement is, the ways in formulating
evaluative statements about the text, and the ways on evaluating statement.
E. Application:
Observe a video presentation of the presidential debate.
Let the student take note what are the asserted or counterclaim in the video.
The students will share their observations in class.
IV. Assessment:
Formulate an evaluative statement on this:
1. “Common sense lang, makakita ka ba ng any animals na lalaki sa lalaki o babae sa

V. Assignment:
1. Make an assertion if the Philippines will be progressive if it is under the governance of
China.
2. Make a counterclaim of the BBM`s latest SONA. Referring to climate change, President
Marcos said that , “the Philippines is sometimes "over-prepared" for natural hazards and
calamities.”
