I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the discussion, the students can:
a. Define what is counterclaims;
b. Formulate counterclaims in response to claims made in a text read;
and
c. Appreciate the importance of steps in writing counterclaims.

A. Preliminary Activities

3. Checking of attendance
4. Setting of standards
5. Recapitulation of the previous lesson
B. Lesson Proper
After the review of the previous lesson, the teacher will ignite students’
interest through motivational activity.
C.ABSTRACTIONS
To give the students an explicit understanding about the topic, the teacher will
discuss the definition of counterclaims and the steps in writing counterclaims.
What is Counterclaims?
- are claims made to rebut a previous claim. They provide a
contrasting perspective to the main argument.
- answer the question ―What are other credible possibilities?
D. APPLICATION
To measure students understanding of the topic, the students will react or
give their counterclaim on the claim which I will flash on the screen.
