1) INTRODUCTION This method of statement is intended to describe the procedure of installing pipe sleeves that will be embedded in reinforced concrete (RC) beam and wall. The materials of pipe sleeves used for penetration through RC beam shall be Galvanized Carbon Steel Pipe to ASTM-A53-Sch40. The brand of the pipe sleeve material is Zenith, India (refer to submittal ref : SCMA/MAT/M063) The size of pipe sleeves used for RC beam and RC wall penetration is DN80 and the length of pipe sleeves shall be according to the approved Construction Drawing. For opening penetration through RC beam, sleeves shall be installed at PC yard during casting of pre-cast concrete beam. For opening through RC wall, pipe sleeves shall be installed after reinforcement bars are ready at site.

2) PLANNING STAGE a) Check the following drawings in order to identify exact location and position of pipe sleeves: a) Structural drawing Details of beam, slab & column. b) Approved Structural Opening and Penetration drawings b) Submission of pipe sleeve material for approval from consultant and client.

3) MATERIAL a) Galvanized Carbon Steel Pipe to ASTM-A53-Sch40 for pipe penetration through RC beam and RC wall. b) Additional rebar T10 to secure position of pipe sleeve. c) Steel wire to fasten the pipe sleeve to avoid pipe movement. 4) MATERIALS DELIVERY a) Upon delivery of material on site, visually check for defects and specification of pipe sleeves materials. b) Unload newly delivered materials and put materials in proper storage. c) Submit Request For Inspection form to arrange for materials inspection with Consultant. d) Upon inspection, take photographs on materials delivered and submit to Consultant together with materials delivery note. 5) INSTALLATION STAGE 5.1.1 After reinforcement steel bars are tied, identify and mark pipe sleeve position based on approved Construction Drawing. For pipe sleeve through RC wall, gridline and floor finish reference line have to be marked on site to identify pipe sleeve position. 5.1.2 Place the pipe sleeve into position and secure pipe position by adding additional reinforcement steel bar and firmly fasten steel wire to rebar. For pipe sleeve through RC wall, pipe sleeve position may be obstructed by reinforcement steel bars. In that case, rebars may have to be cut (by Builders) prior to pipe sleeve installation at site. 5.1.3 Use level spirit to check that pipe sleeve placed into reinforcement bar is horizontally aligned. 5.1.4 All open end of pipe sleeve shall be covered with masking tape before concreting. For step by step diagram illustration of pipe sleeve installation through RC beam and wall, please refer to figure 1.1. 6.0 COMPLETION STAGE 6.1 Submit Request Inspection Form to arrange for inspection with consultant.
