This report describes updates to the LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or intersex)
Global Acceptance Index (GAI), which seeks to measure the relative level of acceptance of LGBTI people
and issues in each country for a specific time period. Understanding acceptance and rejection of LGBTI
people lies at the heart of understanding violence, discrimination, and the multitude of negative
consequences arising from exclusion and unfair treatment. Sexual and gender minorities all over the
world are heavily impacted by the attitudes and beliefs of those around them. Low levels of acceptance
are tied to bullying and violence, physical and mental health problems, discrimination in employment,
and underrepresentation in positions of civic leadership. Additionally, exclusion can result in lower levels
of workforce productivity and decreased business profit.
People encounter violence, inequity, and even torture as well as execution due to who they love, how
they appear, or who they are. Gender identity and sexual orientation are fundamental components of
who we are and should never be grounds for abuse or discrimination.Sexual orientation and gender
identity/expression are important aspects of a young person’s identity. Understanding and expressing
sexual orientation and gender and developing related identities are typical development tasks that vary
across children and youth. For example, some youth may be unsure of their sexual orientation, whereas
others have been clear about it since childhood and have expressed it since a young age. Expressing and
exploring gender identity and roles is a part of normal development. The process of understanding and
expressing one’s sexual orientation and gender identity is unique to each individual. It is not a one-time
event and personal, cultural, and social factors may influence how one expresses their sexual
orientation and gender identity.
LGBTQ concerns have gained attention in recent years in both international politics and sociological
research. The wide range of subjects grouped together under the heading of LGBTQ concerns have
changed over time, according to the contemporary sociological knowledge. Social research on LGBTQ
people's circumstances and related challenges has grown rapidly and across a range of social sectors.
Male and Female sexuality sparked contentious arguments when they revealed that gay behavior was
more prevelent than previously thought, and these issues have been directly related to the struggles of
LGBTQ movements and legal changes.
LGBTQ-related issues are increasingly prominent on many political and social agendas around the
world. New laws and tactics addressing the defense of LGBTQ rights are being developed by
governments and transitional movements all over the world. For instance, the 2013 “Free and Equal ”
campaign from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights had as it's main
goal the treatment of LGBTQ people equally. A set of recommendations to safeguard LGBTQ rights were
outlined in a strategy the European Commission launched in 2015 under the name “List of Actions by
the Commission to Advance LGBTQ Equality. ”
This is also a major issue at San Miguel National High School. Gender discrimination occurs when
someone is mistakenly labeled as one gender or another by peers or teacher's, their appearance and
behavior are made fun of, their abilities are undervalued, etc. It's important to address this issue by
working to dismantle traditional gender roles in the classroom. By doing so, you can better prepare
students to seek knowledge and participate more fully in discussion and other learning opportunities in
a variety of fields, regardless of their interests.
The purpose of the study is to raise awareness among the Senior High Students that gender
discrimination, on has a significant negative impact that contributes to violence. Instead, we need to
