Adverb | Tarun Grover

Adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective and an adverb.


EX:
She is walking slowly.
She is very beautiful.
She is walking very slowly.

Kinds of adverbs :
1. Adverb of time - today, tomorrow, yesterday, the day before yesterday etc.
2. Adverb of place - here, there, everywhere, nowhere etc.
3. Adverb of frequency - always, seldom, never, hardly, frequently etc.
4. Adverb of degree - too, very, much, quite etc.
5. Adverb of manner - Ly - Beautifully, Bravely, Honestly.

Note - Adverb of manner shows how the action is done.


EX:
She sings beautifully.
They fought bravely.
Formation of Adverb of manner
Adiective+ ly =Adverb

Wise+ ly =wisely
Beautiful + ly = beautifully
Honest + ly honestly
Caretul+ ly = carefully
Noun+ ly =Adjective
Friend+ ly = friendly
Brother+ ly = brotherly
Man + ly =manly

In this structure we can use both "good" and "bad" qualities with "too"

4. This news is too good to be true.
5. She is too beautiful to be rejected by any young man.

Note -Too........ To + v * 1 / t * o + be +v3
So... that

She is too beautiful to be rejected by any young man.


= She is so beautiful that she cannot be rejected by any young man

The old man is too weak to walk.


=The old man is so weak that he cannot walk.

Both are same in meaning

Inversion - boxed (Adv +H. V + Sub +M.V.)

2. No sooner than
No sooner she finished cooking when some guest arrived.
She performed so well that everybody got impressed.
