3. (a) A small furniture workshop has two workshops which produce timbers used in
manufacture of tables and chairs. In day operation workshop A can produce
timber required to manufacture 20 tables and 60 chairs, workshop B can
produce timber required to manufacture 25 tables and 50 chairs. The
company needs enough timbers to manufacture at least 200 tables and 500
chairs. If it costs 100,000/= to operate workshop A for one day and 90,000/= to
operate workshop B for one day, how many days should each workshop
operate in order to produce a sufficient amount of timber at minimum cost?
What is the minimum cost?

(b) A manufacturer of a certain product has two stores P1 and P2, there are 80 units of
his product stored in P1 and 70 units in P2. Two customers REVOCATUS
and HILDA order 35 units and 60 units of the product respectively. The supply
cost from the stores to the respective customers is given below;
FROM/TO REVOCATUS HILDA
P1 80/= 120/=
P2 100/= 130/=

(i) is this linear programming problem balanced? Why?
(ii) Write the objective function of this linear programming problem.

4. (a) consider the frequency distribution bellow shows the number of pupils at a
particular school according to their height;
Intervals 30-39.5 40-49.5 50-59.5 60-69.5 70-79.5 80-89.5
Frequency 11 18 24 21 14 12
(a) Calculate the interquartile range
(b) Calculate the 4th decile for the heights
(c) Calculate the 64th Percentile
(b) The mean and standard deviation of a set of 100 items were found to be 60 and
10 respectively. At the time of calculation two items were wrongly taken as 5
and 45 instead of 30 and 20. Calculate the corrected standard deviation.
5. (a) Use the laws of algebra to prove the following
( ) ( ) ( ) ( )
(b) Two finite sets have „p‟ and „q‟ elements respectively. The total number of
subsets of first set is 56 more than the total number of subsets of the second
set. What are the values of letters “p” and “q”.
(c) A group of students consist of 17 girls and 15 boys. 22 of them play handball
while 16 play basketball. 2/15 0f the boys play handball only, 1/15 of boys
play basketball only and 2/3 of boys play both games. Number of the girls
who do not play either of the games is 25% of the number of boys who play
handball.
(i) how many students play either handball or basketball?
(ii)how many girls play both games.

6. (a) Given ( ) is even function, show that p+3r=0

to the line

(b) At what angle are the lines whose equations are and
( ) ( ) inclined to each other ?

(c) Find the equation of a circle concentric with the circle

and having its area equal to 2π.

9. (a) Evaluate
