Procedure
Keep the microscope on the working table.
Remove dust by wiping with muslin or silk cloth.
Use lens cleaning fluid and lens cleaning paper to clean the lenscs.
Observe different parts of the microscope and make a well labelled diagram.
Take a permanent or temporary slide and keep it on stage. Fix the slide with clip and view after focusin.

Parts of Microscope
(a) Base: The base is of horse shoe shaped. It provides support to the microscope.
(b) Pillar: The vertical projection of the base is called pillar.
(c) Arm: This is usually curved in shape and is
used for handling the microscope.

objective lenses are present. One is low powered (10X) and another is high powered (45X). Some times a
lens is also found (100X).

Eyepiece Lens: This lens is fitted at the top ofthe body tube. The power of eyepiece lens is usually 10X or 15X.
A Precautions
Use both hands to carry the microscope.
After using the high power objective lens; always change to low power objective lens.
While using the high power objective lens, do not move the coarse adjustment screw.

While adjusting the objective lens take care that it does not touch the slide otherwise the slide would break.
