AUTOTUNING / AUTOTUNE Version 2

Last revision 05/10/2023
PROCESS SHEET

Explanation of the function

The autotuning or autotune function is used to calculate the parameters of the motor necessary for the drive
to control the motor.
The autotune must be carried out in case of:
 Start-up of an asynchronous machine
 The encoder of a gearless machine has been manipulated (turned or replaced).
 Having exchanged the phases of the power cable between the drive and the gearless machine.
 You want to calculate the encoder angle of gearless machines.

This sheet explains the process of advanced static and rotary autotune.

Before the autotune

In case of gearless machines, note the value of the encoder angle in CTD 3.4.2 Enc angle or Pr0.43.

Advanced static autotune

The advanced static autotune does not move the lift and it takes 1 to 2 min.
During the process, a noise is heard due to the vibrations of the machine as a minimum movement is made
(the brake is always closed) in order to calculate the angle.
1. Put the lift in emergency.
2. Program CTD 4.1.1 Type = Full Static and Execute = YES

WARNING
If in CTD 4.1.1 there is no full static option, configure in CTD 3.7 Param manual:
 Pr 5.012 = 1
 Pr 5.013 = 1
 Pr 5.016 = 1

3. Check CTD 4.1.1 Status = enable

4. Press and hold the emergency operating panel (up or down) until the CTD 4.1.1 Status variable
shows disable for 3 seconds or the Keypad display indicates Inhibit.
5. Reset Pr 5.016 = 0 if done by manual parameter.

6. With asynchronous (geared) and synchronous (gearless) machines, divide by 2 the current gains P
and I in CTD3.5.1 if it is geared machine and CTD3.5.2 if it is a gearless machine.

7. Check the operation of the lift first in emergency and then in normal.

8. Save parameters by following the two points below:

a. CTD menu 4.1.2 Save = [SI] or Pr X.000 = 1000 / Save Parameters

b. CTD menu 3.7 Reset = [YES] or red button on KeyPad

Rotative autotune
To perform this autotune it is necessary to unhook the suspension ropes because the motor must be able
to rotate freely. This autotune calculates the machine's parameters most accurately and the process takes
about 40 seconds.
1. Put the lift in emergency.
2. Program CTD 4.1.1 Type = Rotative and Execute =YES or Pr 5.012 = 2
3. Check CTD4.1.1 Status = enable
4. Press the emergency operating panel (up or down) and hold it until CTD 4.1.1 Status shows disable
for 3 seconds or the Keypad display indicates Inhibit.
5. With asynchronous (geared) and synchronous (gearless) machines, divide by 2 the current gains P
and I in CTD3.5.1 if it is an geared machine and CTD3.5.2 if it is a gearless machine.

6. Check the correct operation of the motor without ropes. A gearless motor should draw less than
1A (CTD 2.1 current or Pr 0.012) and a geared motor approximately half its rated current.

7. Hang the suspension ropes.

8. Check the operation of the lift first in emergency and then in normal operation.

9. Save parameters by following the two points below:

a. CTD menu 4.1.2 Save = [SI] or Pr X.000 = 1000 / Save Parameters

b. CTD menu 3.7 Reset = [YES] or red button on KeyPad

WARNING
In the event of a fault with one of the autotunes, please refer to the corresponding fault sheet.
If the fault is not solved by means of this card, please refer to the parameter settings sheet of the
drive for the relevant machine (KB7000xx).
For geared machines, in modernisations, see 0905136.
