Steps
1) We are going to use a Scratch program to make the lists of arrows and times that we
need to make our own dance dance revolution level.

2) https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/413526829/ First, go to this Scratch program and

click “See Inside”. If you are logged into your Scratch account, you can click “Remix”
to save your own copy of the program to your Scratch account.

3) Now, click on the “Sounds” tab. Then, hover over the blue speaker and move the
mouse up to click “Upload Sound”.

4) Choose a song from your computer to upload. You can also click on the magnifying
glass and choose from sounds that come with Scratch.

5) If your song is too long, it

might not let you save it to
your Scratch account. If this is
the Case, click and drag
across the sound wave to high
light the section you want to
get rid of. Then, click the
scissors labelled “Delete”.

6) Go to the code for “Sprite1” (our friend Scratch the cat). This should be the code
displayed by default. Click on the little arrow on the purple “play sound until done”
block. The song that you picked for your project should be there now!

7) Now, when you press the green flag, your song should start playing in a few
seconds. The “ArrowList” and “TimeList” should start out empty, but will fill up as
you press the arrow keys. Try to hit the arrow keys along with the beat of the music.
See if you can come up with fun patterns to repeat through the song!

8) When you are done, right click on ArrowList and press export to save it. Try to save
it somewhere you can easily find it for the next step. Do the same thing with
TimeList.

9) Now, we just need to import these lists to a remix of the Dance Dance Revolution
game you have already tried playing.

10) Go to https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/413076376/ to find my remix of the DDR

game.

11) Click Re-mix to start your own remix of the game.

12) This project has a lot of code, on a lot of different pages! Luckily, to make our own
song, all we need to do is import the lists we exported from the last Scratch program.

13) Find the Orange “Variables” tab in the block code menu, then scroll down until you
see “make a list”. Under that, click the boxes for TimeCode and Steps. These lists will
appear in the game window now

14) Right click on Steps, and import the “ArrowList.txt” file that you downloaded earlier.

15) Right Click on TimeCode, and import the “TimeList.txt” file.

16) Once you have imported your own lists, uncheck the boxes in the variables tab so
that the lists are no longer displayed.

17) Finally, go to the Sounds tab, and import the song you used to make the steps
earlier. The steps are the same as before. If you had to delete part of the song before,
try to delete the same part of the song now.

18) The only thing you need to change in the code is the song played. It is a little harder
to find the right spot in the code for this program. First, click “Stage” in the bottom
right corner, to display the code for the stage. Then, in the code underneath the
second “When I Receive go !” tab, you will see a purple “Start Sound” button. Click
the little arrow to switch it to the song you uploaded.

19) Press the green arrow to play your song!
