of different substances.
2) Language Arts - Students will write a scientific explanation of the relationship
between the states of matter and the behavior of particles.
3) Social Studies - Students will research how the properties of matter have
influenced historical events, such as the sinking of the Titanic.

Review Motivation:
1) Teaching Strategy: Interactive Quizzes
Instructional Materials: Quiz questions, buzzers
- Conduct a quiz game where students answer questions about the properties of
matter. Use buzzers to make it more engaging.

2) Teaching Strategy: Science Experiments

Instructional Materials: Various substances, measuring tools, containers
- Perform a series of hands-on experiments to measure and observe the different
properties of matter. Encourage student participation and inquiry.

3) Teaching Strategy: Real-Life Scenario

Instructional Materials: Newspaper articles, case studies
- Present a real-life scenario where understanding the properties of matter is
crucial in solving a practical problem. Discuss and analyze the situation with the
students.

Activity 1: Investigating Density

Teaching Strategy: Experiential Learning
Materials: Various objects of different densities, beakers, water, balance scale
Significance: Students will explore the concept of density by measuring the mass
and volume of different objects and calculating their densities.
Instructions:
1) Fill the beakers with water.
2) Measure the mass of each object using the balance scale.
3) Place each object in the water and measure the volume of water displaced.
4) Calculate the density of each object using the formula density = mass/volume.
Rubric:
- Correct calculations: 5 pts
- Accurate measurements: 5 pts
- Clear presentation of results: 5 pts
Assessment Questions:
1) What is the formula for calculating density?
2) How does the density of an object affect its buoyancy?
3) Give an example of a substance with a high density and one with a low density.

Activity 2: States of Matter Simulation

Teaching Strategy: Technology Integration
Materials: Computer, internet access, simulation software
Significance: Students will use a simulation software to observe and understand
the behavior of particles in different states of matter.
Instructions:
1) Access the simulation software on the computer.
2) Observe the behavior of particles in solids, liquids, and gases.
3) Take note of the arrangement and movement of particles in each state.
4) Discuss how the properties of matter change as it transitions between states.
Rubric:
- Active participation in the simulation: 5 pts
- Accurate observations and notes: 5 pts
- Meaningful contribution to the discussion: 5 pts
Assessment Questions:
1) What happens to the arrangement and movement of particles as matter changes
from a solid to a liquid?
2) How does the behavior of particles in a gas differ from that in a liquid?
3) Give an example of a substance that can exist in all three states of matter.

Activity 3: Practical Applications of Matter Properties

Teaching Strategy: Problem-Based Learning
Materials: Practical problems related to matter properties
Significance: Students will apply their understanding of matter properties to solve
practical problems in everyday life.
Instructions:
1) Present a practical problem related to matter properties.
2) Divide students into groups and let them discuss and come up with possible
solutions.
3) Each group presents their solution and explains how they used the properties of
matter to solve the problem.
Rubric:
- Creativity and originality of solution: 5 pts
- Clear explanation of how matter properties were used: 5 pts
- Effective teamwork and collaboration: 5 pts
Assessment Questions:
1) How can understanding the properties of matter help you in cooking?
2) Explain how the knowledge of density can be applied in designing flotation
devices.
3) Give an example of a natural phenomenon that can be explained using the
properties of matter.

ANALYSIS:
Activity 1 - Through the investigation of density, students were able to understand
the relationship between mass, volume, and density. They also learned how to
calculate density and apply it to different objects. This activity connects to the main
objective by allowing students to identify and categorize the property of density and
appreciate its importance in practical applications.

Activity 2 - By using a simulation software to observe the behavior of particles in

different states of matter, students gained a deeper understanding of how matter
changes from one state to another. They were able to identify and categorize the
states of matter and appreciate the importance of understanding these properties
in explaining natural phenomena.

Activity 3 - Through the practical application of matter properties, students were

able to apply their knowledge to real-life situations and solve problems. They
learned how to utilize the properties of matter to explain natural phenomena and
solve practical problems.

ABSTRACTION:
The main point of the objective is to identify and categorize various properties of
matter, conduct experiments or demonstrations to measure and observe these
properties, and appreciate the importance of understanding them in explaining
natural phenomena and solving practical problems. By understanding the
properties of matter, students can analyze and explain the behavior of substances,
make informed decisions, and solve real-world problems.

APPLICATION:
Task 1 - Role-Playing
Teaching Strategy: Role-Playing
Task: Students will act out scenarios where they apply their knowledge of matter
properties to solve practical problems. For example, they can role-play as scientists
investigating a crime scene and using forensic techniques to analyze substances
found at the scene.

Task 2 - Concept Mapping

Teaching Strategy: Concept Mapping
Task: Students will create a concept map that connects the different properties of
matter and their applications in various fields such as engineering, medicine, and
environmental science. They will identify and categorize the properties of matter
and explain how they are utilized in each field.
