Activity 1 : Single and Double Acting Cylinders

1. What are the materials/equipment involved with the activity?

• Pneumatic trainer equipment

• Pneumatic hose
• Air compressor

2. What is the initial pressure set before executing the activity?

• 1kg/𝑐𝑚!

3. Describe how the system operates as the Lab Technician demonstrated.

• Start the air compressor and let it fill up automatically.

• Assemble and connect the tubes as shown by the lab technician.
• Calibrate and set up the pressure based on the starting circumstances.
• Adjust the flow meter to get the required pressure.
• To deliver air to the system, open the valve.
• When you press and hold the push button on the 3/2 way valve linked to the single
acting cylinder, the double acting cylinder is also activated; when you release the
button, the single acting cylinder should retract automatically.
• To retract the 3/2 way valve linked to the double acting cylinder, press the push button.
4. Using the Application Fluid Sim by Festo, Create the CIRCUIT DIAGRAM of the system.

Activity 2 : Air Motor

1. What are the materials/equipment involved with the activity?

• Pneumatic trainer equipment
• Pneumatic hose
• Air compressor

2. What is the initial pressure set before executing the activity?

• 3kg/𝑐𝑚!

• Press and hold the push button of the 3/2 way valve connected to motor, this should
turn the motor clockwise.
• Press and hold the second push button of the 3/2 way valve connected to the motor this
should turn the motor counter clockwise.
4. Using the Application Fluid Sim by Festo, Create the CIRCUIT DIAGRAM of the system.

Activity 3: Air Motor with Parameters

1. What are the materials/equipment involved with the activity?

a. Air compressor
b. Rubber tubes,
c. 3/2 way with push button
d. air motor
e. junction
f. flow meter
g. Tachometer
h. pressure indication
i. volume flow rate indicator.

2. What is the initial pressure set before executing the activity?

a. 3 kg/cm^2

3. Describe how the system operates as the Lab Technician demonstrated.

• Start the air compressor and let it fill up.
• Connect the tubes as shown by the technician.
• Adjust the pressure based on the original circumstances.

• Adjust the flow meter to get the required pressure.

• Turn the valve to allow air into the system.

• Take note of the first pressure applied.

• Press and hold the push button on the 3/2 way valve attached to the motor to spin it clockwise.
Using the tachometer, record the RPM.
• While pressing, measure and record the volume flowrate.
• Turn the motor counterclockwise by pressing and holding the second push button of the 3/2
way valve linked to it. Using the tachometer, record the RPM.
• While pressing, measure and record the volume flowrate.
• Repeat the process, changing the flow meter knob by one turn for each experiment.

4. Using the Application Fluid Sim by Festo, Create the CIRCUIT DIAGRAM of the system.
5. If any measuring is involved, record the data at least 20 items/trials.

a. Clockwise
