Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of
national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of preparing International
Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical committees. Each member
body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has
the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, govern-
mental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. IS0
collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all
matters of electrotechnical standardization.

Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to

the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by
the IS0 Council. They are approved in accordance with IS0 procedures requiring at

least 75 % approval by the member bodies voting.

The chemical composition of thehttps://standards.iteh.ai/catalog/standards/sist/04215499-1dad-49a3-ab5c-
aluminium alloys formerly specified in IS0 2779 : 1973
and IS0 3335 : 1977 are now given in this part of33b1843154b5/iso-209-1-1989
IS0 209, while their mechanical
properties are specified in IS0 6362-2 : 1987. Consequently, IS0 2779 : 1973 and
IS0 3335 : 1977, as well as IS0 Recommendation/R 209 : 1971, are cancelled.

IS0 209 consists of the following parts, under the general title Wroughtaluminium and
aluminium alloys - Chemical composition and forms of products:

- Part 7: Chemical composition

- Part 2: Forms of products

Annexes A and B form an integral part of this part of IS0 209.

a test to determine an element concentration shall be expressed retained is greater than 5, or equal to 5 and followed by at
to the same number of decimal places as the corresponding least one figure other than zero, the last figure to be re-
limit in this part of IS0 209. tained is increased by one;

The following rules shall be used for rounding :

c) when the figure immediately after the last figure to be
a) when the figure immediately after the last figure to be retained is equal to 5 and followed by zeros only, the last
retained is less than 5, the last figure to be retained remains figure to be retained remains unchanged if even and is in-
unchanged; creased by one if odd.
