Standard Operating Procedure WPS: FCAW-01
Rev:0 Page 1 of 2
1. Use oxy fuel cutting to cut and prepare the edges of the pieces
2. Use angle grinder to smoothen the prepared edges to the size and shape given in the drawing
3. Use suitable gauges and measuring equipment to ensure the prepared edges
4. Use runner plates to tack and hold the pieces
5. Fix the joint in 3G/vertical position
6. Set the amperes and volts to the specification given in the WPS weld the root and ensure that the
penetration is above the flush level of root side and not exceeding 3mm
7. Clean the root with chipping hammer, wire brush and grinder and ensure the smooth and defect
free surface.
8. Weld the hot pass, filling and capping, maximum height of the capping should not exceed 3mm
9. Clean the surface of joint, root side and face side.
10. Use of angle grinder is not allowed after completing the welding.
