What is Formula Student
Formula Student is an international engineering design
competition that challenges students to build a single-seated formula-
style car with either a combustion or electric drive train based on the
Formula SAE rules and guidelines and compete against teams worldwide.

The competition is divided into two parts – "Static" events,

which take place off-track, and "Dynamic" events, which take place on
the track. Each team is required to assume the role of a manufacturer
and develop a prototype that could be evaluated for production.
Winning the competition is not solely based on creating the fastest car.
Instead, the competition evaluates the best overall package, including
construction, performance, financial planning, and sales strategies.

Over the years, Formula Student has grown in popularity,

attracting participants from over 20 different countries and more than
600 universities. And with new events being established all the time,
there's never been a better time to join the competition and see what
you can accomplish. So, if you're ready to take on the ultimate challenge
and push your engineering skills to the limit, sign up for Formula Student
today – and get ready to experience the thrill of a lifetime!

What is Formula Student

Static Events (325 Points)

Engineering Design – 150 points

The Formula Student engineering design competition

begins with a technical report that the students must
submit, detailing their car's design and how it will be
constructed.

The jury evaluates the layout, technical design,

construction, and implementation of the vehicle based on
this report. At the event, the teams must demonstrate
their knowledge and understanding to the judges,
clarifying technical details and explaining the thinking
behind their chosen design.

The evaluation assesses not only the quality of the

technical solution but also the reasoning behind the
concept.

Static Events (325 Points)

Cost and Manufacturing – 100 points

The cost analysis event in the Formula Student competition

requires teams to consider the financial aspect of their
vehicle's design.

They must provide a written cost report detailing the size of

the vehicle, its components, and the necessary manufacturing
steps. Judges evaluate the report and ask the students
questions related to the cost analysis of their prototype.

Moreover, the teams must also create a real case, a specific

task that evaluates their cost and manufacturing knowledge in
a particular field. The real case task is published on the
competition website before the event.

Static Events (325 Points)

Business Plan Presentation – 75 points

The business plan presentation event at Formula Student
requires teams to pitch their prototype to a fictitious
manufacturing company represented by judges.

In just ten minutes, they must convince the judges that their
design is the best option for their target market and
demonstrate how it can be successfully marketed.

The presentation is followed by a five-minute Q&A session

where the team's knowledge and understanding are tested.

The judges evaluate not only the content of the presentation

but also the structure, editing, and performance of the team.
It's a great opportunity for the students to showcase their
business skills and ability to communicate effectively.

The endurance race accounts for about a third
of all available points and is thus the most
significant event in the Formula Student
competitions. The vehicles must demonstrate
endurance across a 22-kilometer handling
circuit.

Efficiency – 100 points

Fuel usage (FSC cars) or energy consumption
(FSE cars) is carefully measured during the
endurance race. However, the efficiency score
is based on consumption relative to speed
rather than actual fuel and energy use.
