Installation Guide

Installing OpenOffice 4.1.7 Suite


OpenOffice suite is the office application suite that provides the various application, such as Writer,
Calc, Base, Impress, Draw, and Math. You can use these applications according to your requirement. If
you are currently using an older version of OpenOffice suite, for example, OpenOffice 4.1.6, you can
directly upgrade it to OpenOffice 4.1.7 instead of uninstalling the older version and then installing the
new version. Upgrading to OpenOffice 4.1.7 from an older version takes less time and effort. In case you
do not have any older version of OpenOffice already installed on your system, you can install OpenOffice
4.1.7 as a fresh installation. However, before installing OpenOffice 4.1.7 suite in your system, you need
to check the minimum system requirement to install OpenOffice 4.1.7 suite in your computer.

System Requirement
The minimum system requirements to install the OpenOffice 4.1.7 suite are as follows:

COMPONENT MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENT

Memory 256 MB RAM (512MB Recommended)

Hard disk 650 MB free hard drive space

Display 1028x720 or higher resolution

Operating system Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7,


Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 (including 32/64-bit
versions)
Other Software Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

Install OpenOffice 4.1.7 Suite


Perform the following steps to install the OpenOffice 4.1.7 suite:
1 Go to the hyperlink https://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html to download the OpenOffice
4.1.7 suite.
2 Click the Download full installation button under the Download Apache OpenOffice section.

Wait until the OpenOffice 4.1.7 suite gets downloaded. When the OpenOffice 4.1.7 file gets
downloaded, open the folder.
3 Double-click the Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.7_Win_x86_install_en-US file to start the installation.

The Welcome to OpenOffice 4.1.7 Setup page appears on the OpenOffice 4.1.7 Setup wizard
(Figure 1).

4 Click the Next button, as shown in Figure 1:

The Choose Install Location page appears on the OpenOffice 4.1.7 Setup wizard (Figure 2).
5 Select the folder in which you want to install the OpenOffice 4.1.7 suite by clicking the Browse
button. In this case, we have selected the default destination folder (Figure 2).
6 Click the Install button, as shown in Figure 2:

2 Information Technology

The process of extracting the files displays, as shown in Figure 3:

The Welcome to the Installation Wizard for OpenOffice 4.1.7 page appears on OpenOffice 4.1.7 –
Installation Wizard (Figure 4).
7 Click the Next button, as shown in Figure 4:

The Customer Information page appears on OpenOffice 4.1.7 – Installation Wizard (Figure 5).
8 Enter the name of the user in the User Name text box. In our case, we have typed User1 (Figure 5).
9 Enter the name of the organization in the Organization text box. In our case, we have typed XYZ
(Figure 5).

10 Select the desired radio button in the Install this application for section to specify whether the
software is used by all the computer users or for a single user. In our case, we have selected the
Anyone who uses this computer (all users) radio button (Figure 5).
11 Click the Next button, as shown in Figure 5:

The Setup Type page appears on OpenOffice 4.1.7 – Installation Wizard (Figure 6).
12 Select the desired radio button in the Setup Type page to specify the type of installation that you
want. In our case, we have selected the Typical radio button (Figure 6).
13 Click the Next button, as shown in Figure 6:

4 Information Technology

The Ready to Install the Program page appears on OpenOffice 4.1.7 – Installation Wizard
(Figure 7).
14 Select the Create a start link on desktop check box to create a shortcut of the OpenOffice 4.1.7
suite on the desktop of you computer system (Figure 7).
15 Click the Install button to start the installation, as shown in Figure 7:

The Installing OpenOffice 4.1.7 page appears on OpenOffice 4.1.7 – Installation Wizard that
shows the installation progress of OpenOffice 4.1.7 suite, as shown in Figure 8:

After the installation process is completed, the Installation Wizard Completed page appears on

16 Click the Finish button, as shown in Figure 9:

Now, you can use the various applications of OpenOffice 4.1.7 suite installed in your computer
system.
