Detailed Lesson Plan

Learning Area: MATHEMATICS

Quarter: 3
Week: 8
Grade Level: 2
Duration: 50mins
The learner demonstrates an understanding of straight and curved lines, flat
Content Standard
and curved surfaces, and basic shapes.
Performance The learner is able to recognize and construct straight and curved lines, flat and
Standard curved surfaces, and basic shapes
Learning Constructs squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, half - circles, and quarter

Straight Lines and Curves, Flat and Curved Surfaces in a 3-Dimensional
I. CONTENT
Object
 Identify Flat and Curved Surfaces in a 3-Dimensional Object
 Construct Straight Lines and Curves, Flat and Curved Surfaces in a 3-
II.LEARNING Dimensional Object
OBJECTIVES  Differentiate the benefits and effects of healthy foods and unhealthy
foods.
 Illustrate shapes.

III. LEARNING
Observation of a Demonstration Teaching
PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Prayer
Activities Energizer: Body Shape Action Song
Identify the shapes and count its sides and corners.

Square - has 4 equal sides and 4 corners

Rectangle - has 2 pairs of parallel sides with 4
1. Review corners
Triangle – has 3 sides and 3 corners
Circle – closed figure, no sides and no corners

2. Motivation Activity: Name It!

Name the foods you see! Get 1 strip of paper and put it on its correct
picture.
Cabbage Rectangular Watermelon
Sardines Can Wafer Biscuits Cornetto Ice Cream
Can you state the group of healthy foods and unhealthy foods among these pictures?
What are the benefits of eating healthy foods and effects of unhealthy foods?
What more are the best foods one should eat every day?

B. Developmental
Activities
Look at the shapes once again.
Can you see straight lines? How about curve lines?
Look at the chart I have prepared. These are the straight and curve lines that you use
recently.
 Straight line is a line with no bends or curves.
 Curve line is a line that is not straight and is bent.
 Flat surface is a plane horizontal surface with no depths.
 Curved surface is a rounded surface which is not flat.

1. Modeling
(I Do)

Did you know that because of these straight and curve lines, you can create shapes
that is flat and curve surface? How is it possible?
 Straight and curved lines can make a 3-Dimensional shape or object.
 In Geometry, 3-D or three-dimensional shapes are defined as a solid figure or a
shape that has three dimensions – length, width, and height.
 Any 3-D shapes or objects have a flat surface, curved surfaces or having both.

2. Guided GROUP ACTIVITY

Practice Group the shapes whether 3-D flat surface, 3-D flat and curve surface or 3-D
(We Do) curve surface.

3-D flat surface 3-D flat and curve surface 3-D curve surface
Group 2
Instruction: Trace and draw a shape using straight lines and curve lines.

Draw a shape using straight lines Draw a shape using straight lines and curve lines.

Group 3
Draw any 3-D shapes or objects have a flat surface, curved surfaces or having both.

3-D shapes or objects have a flat 3-D shapes or objects have a flat
surface surface and curved surfaces

3. Application
(You Do)

Now, if we are to compare the pictures to the 3-D Shapes,

Give me more examples of objects that has similar solid shapes with flat and curve
surfaces?

Match the 3D-shapes in the column A that corresponds the object in the column
IV. EVALUATION B.

V.
AGREEMENT/ASSI Construct a 3-D object model made with different shapes.
