BITSAT 2024 – PAPER REVIEW

20th May Shift 1

PHYSICS

• Similar to JEE Mains 2024 with more theoretical questions


• Students spent around 45 min on this section
• Formula-based and conceptual questions were prominent with 2-3 strange questions
• Balanced Weightage with Mixed reviews on difficulty with bias towards easy paper
• But a general consensus on the fair and balanced nature of the questions.

Topic Distribution:

Mechanics: High weightage, especially Newton’s Laws of Motion (NLM), Work, Power, and Energy (WPE), and rotational
mechanics.
Kinematics and Waves: Several questions focused on these areas.
Resistor Colour Coding: Notable presence.
Electromagnetism and Modern Physics: Lower weightage
Fluid Dynamics: rarely asked.

CHEMISTRY

• Easier than JEE Mains 2024 with few off-track questions that we don’t generally study
• Theoretical questions Dominance in paper and many were direct fact-based from NCERT.
• Students spent around 20-30 mins on chemistry

Topic Distribution:

Organic 10%, Inorganic 45%, Physical 45%

Physical Chemistry:
Many questions from physical chemistry, including electrochemistry and ionic equilibrium.
Specific Chapters: High weightage to equilibrium, thermodynamics, and electrochemistry.

Inorganic Chemistry:
Significant number of questions from inorganic chemistry, especially P block elements and Coordination Compounds.

Organic Chemistry: Negligible weightage


Very few questions from organic chemistry, just 2-3 questions.
Basic Topics: Focus on basic reactions and nomenclature.

MATH

• Easier than JEE Mains with unexpectedly straightforward questions


• Students were able to do maths in 1 hr - 70 min.

Topic Distribution:

Calculus:

High Weightage: Differential equations had a significant presence, with multiple questions reported by many students.
Integration and Basic Calculus: Basic integrals and fundamental calculus questions were common.

Algebra:

Presence Noted: Algebra had a notable presence, though not overwhelming.


Probability and PnC: Several questions from probability and permutations & combinations.
3 questions from LPP are asked

Coordinate Geometry:

Less Emphasis: Coordinate geometry, including conic sections, had fewer questions than expected.

Vectors and 3D Geometry:

Significant Weightage: Many students reported a good number of questions from vectors and 3D geometry.

ENGLIGH

Difficulty Level:

English: Generally found to be easy or straightforward.


Generally completed quickly, with many students finishing in 20-25 minutes.

Topic Distribution:

Reading Comprehension: Included paragraphs with questions, relatively straightforward.


Synonyms/Antonyms: Around 3-4 questions, based on commonly used words.
Sentence Rearrangement: 3-4 questions, involving sentence structuring.
Idioms and Phrases: Included 1-2 questions.
Grammar and Basic English Usage: Questions on grammar, active-passive voice, etc.

Logical Reasoning (LR)

Difficulty Level:

Many students found this section challenging, with some questions being tricky or ambiguous.
More time-consuming, with some students taking up to 30 minutes or more.
Some questions seemed to have multiple interpretations or lacked clarity.

Topic Distribution:

Pattern Identification: Number and alphabet patterns were noted to be tricky.


Analogies: Some students found analogy questions confusing.
Puzzles and Logical Deductions: These were often cited as tough and time-consuming.
Specific and Peculiar Questions: For example, questions relating numbers in a non-standard way, or complex puzzles
based on given data.
