National foreword
This British Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee PEL/23 and is
identical with IEC Publication 1008-2-2 Residual current operated
circuit-breakers without integral overcurrent protection for household and similar
uses (RCCB’s) — Part 2-2: Applicability of the general rules to RCCB’s
functionally independent on line voltage.
This British Standard is one of a series in which the other publications, which
together supersede BS 4293:1993, are as follows:
BS EN 61008-1:1995, Residual current operated circuit-breakers without integral
overcurrent protection for household and similar uses (RCCB’s) — Part 1: General
rules.
BS EN 61008-2-1:1995, Residual current operated circuit-breakers without
integral overcurrent protection for household and similar use (RCCB’s) —
Part 2-1: Applicability of the general rules to RCCB’s functionally independent of
line voltage.
BS 4293 will be withdrawn on 1 July 2000.
Where reference is made to “Part 1”, this should be taken to mean
“BS EN 61008-1”.
A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a
contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application.
Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity
from legal obligations.
