RD Calendar - 2nd Semester
REGENT Business School (RBS) would like to welcome you to semester 2 of the academic
year. We are very excited that you have joined our team and we hope that this year brings you
much enjoyment, enthusiasm and most importantly, a fruitful academic learning experience.
In light of recent attempts to return to normality post the 4th wave of the global Coronavirus
pandemic, and also maintaining social distancing to minimise risk to our students, staff,
stakeholders and the community at large, RBS has adopted a blended approach of service
delivery. We will continue to provide lectures through digitally mediated channels, such as
online platforms, and also host face to face interaction in the form of tutorials.
Please see table below on the dates and activities for the upcoming semester:
15th August 2022 – 16th September 2022 Lecture period for Term 3 5 weeks of contact time
(onsite/online) with students
19th September 2022 – 23rd September 2022 Term 3 break 1 Week
26th September 2022 – 28th October 2022 Lectures start for Term 4 5 weeks of contact time

• We have adopted the blended mode of delivery, which is “a style of education in which
students learn via electronic and online media as well as traditional face-to-face
teaching.” Therefore, blended learning combines both classroom and online education,
taking advantage of the advances in technology
• The face-to-face interaction will be in the form of tutorials, which are compulsory.
• In addition to problem-solving exercises and engaging with material, the tutorials will
enhance creative and critical thinking capabilities which contribute towards the development
of critical 21st century skills.
• Flexibility- combining synchronous and asynchronous learning: webinars are recorded and
uploaded on moodle.
• Consistency - consistency in terms of delivery of content and learning material
• Personalised – you work at your own pace in asynchronous mode where it possible to
utilise own style of learning
• Flipped classrooms - boost engagement
• Far greater opportunities to integrate theory and practice
• ‘Real-world’ learning which focusses on application; problem-solving; working in teams, etc.
• Timetable reflects a mix of off-site technology-supported learning and active on-site
interaction
• It disrupts the traditional shape and nature of education: it is not only a better way; it is a
different way of teaching and learning, making use of different resources, technologies, and
learning spaces
• Improved student success, satisfaction, and retention
OTHER IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS:
• Individual timetables and links for webinars will be sent to students before commencement
of lectures.
• Lectures will commence from Monday – Friday with dedicated time to face-to-face
interaction.
• Academic resources have been uploaded in the form of pre-recorded lectures, voice over
PowerPoint presentations and additional academic content, which are all relevant for the
semester
• Please ensure that your contact details are updated and that you check your email
notifications regularly to ensure that you are up to date with the latest developments and
notifications
• You will require connectivity and access to the identified webinar platform
• Please ensure that you attend all scheduled session for each module. Also, use this
opportunity to engage your lecturer on any difficulties that you may be encountering
• Live webinars will be recorded and will be saved on the student portal
We look forward to getting to know you better in the months ahead. We wish you much success
as you fulfill your academic goals and as you learn more about yourself and your place in the
world.
