LTSPICE INTRODUCTION
LTspice is a powerful, fast and free simulation tool, schematic capture and waveform viewer with
enhancements and models for improving the simulation of switching regulators This software will be the
recommended software for our laboratory exercises except LabExer No. 002 and LabExer No. 007. There are
many software for circuit simulation but for the uniformity we will use this software.
Objective
This laboratory exercise will familiarize you about LTspice software. You can download the software in
this link.

Procedure
1. The initial window of the ltspice software when opened is just like in Figure 1.1
Figure 1.1
3. Click the Component Logo. Then choose voltage and the voltage source in Figure 1.2 will show. Click
OK.
Figure 1.2
4. You can click it on any part of the workspace. Right-Click to disable. Then Right-Click on the Voltage
source component. Click on Advanced. And you will see the output on the Figure 1.3.

5. Choose SINE (Voffset Vamp Freq Td Theta Phi Ncycles). And as shown in Figure 1.4, these boxes will
pop-out.

8. Click the Wire Logo. Click to the positive terminal of the voltage source then connect it at the upper
part of the resistor. You will notice a wire drawn that will connect the positive terminal of the voltage
source to the upper part of the resistor. Click the lower part of the resistor and Click the negative
terminal of the voltage source. Right-Click to disable.
9. Always remember that the circuit needs grounding. Click the Ground Logo. Click it few centimeters
below the voltage source. Right-Click to disable. Connect it to the circuit with Wire Logo. The output
circuit will be like the circuit in Figure 1.5.

10. Right-Click on any empty space on the workspace. Then Click Run. An Edit Simulation Command
Window will pop out. Enter “2” on the Stop time value. Use this value on every running of circuit.
11. To measure the voltage of the resistor. Place the cursor on the upper part of the terminal. The cursor
Answer on this sheet and save your work for submission through the LMS.
Questions
1. What is the difference on the curves of voltages measured at voltage source and the resistor?
2. What is the difference on the curves of current measured at voltage source and the resistor?
