How do you consider yourself as a teacher? Beginning. This is my first year to handle BS
Social Work class and still developing proficiency towards teaching in college.
Which of the following have you given much considerations in your teaching? Why?
My Answer is letter C. Local knowledge, values, culture, 21st century skills and
international and even national developments. Because as a college lecturer, it is
important to ensure that students are grounded in cultural values and traditions to
strengthen their patriotism, learn the local and international developments as these
will help them adopt to the changing needs of the society which is the primary concern
of social work-- to ensure the well-being of individuals, groups and communities,
learning the 21st century skills is a requirement to guide them in choosing the
appropriate field of social work they would like to be engaged based on the core skills,
knowledge and values they will develop as they undergo the tedious process of
academic compliance-- the future of work relies also with the future of thinking the
students develop.
Where you are teaching what do you like the most? (Local or Abroad) Why? All three are
important considerations in teaching. But of course, you get to be inspired by the
"learners". It's a privilege to be part of the process of developing future social workers. It's a
great responsibility also to ensure that the transfer of knowledge, (right) attitude and skills
about the social work practice is well appreciated and understood by the learners.
How do you consider yourself as a teacher? Please Explain. Letter B. Glocal. A teacher or a
lecturer specially the ones on college level must have a wider perspective about the practice
of the profession at the local and international levels. The developments in the social work
profession are dictated with the social changes and developments which may happen at the
local level, national level, or both. These happenings must be taught to the students in line
with the existing concepts, theories, frameworks, models, and strategies built-in to
operationalize the practice of the social work profession be it in the Philippines or at the
international level depending on the student's dreams and ambitions-- or the opportunities
they will land in the future.

Who is a glocal teacher? What are the attributes of the glocal teacher? A glocal teacher
is a competent and armed with enough skills and appropriate attitude and universal
values to teach learners at home or abroad but is equipped with both times tested as
well as a modem technology in education at anytime and anyplace. More specifically,
they understand how this world is interconnected. They recognized that the world has
reached variety of life way of a vision of a future would be for herself and the students.
They are creative and innovative. They understand the diversity of cultures.
They also believe and take actions for education that will sustain the future. They
facilitate mediated learning. They also possess good communication for Filipino teachers
to be multilingual. They are also aware of international teacher standards and master
the competencies.
Can a teacher whom you have interviewed be classified as a glocal teacher? Why or
why not? Yes. She’s a glocal teacher. Because she has a wider perspective about the
practice of the profession at the local and international levels. Even if she is teaching
here in the Philippines, sharing the knowledge and teaching techniques are not limited
to be use inside the country because we can also teach the world with what we know.
Can one be a glocal teacher, without teaching abroad? Write your insight. Absolutely
yes, because being a global teacher doesn't mean we have to teach from another
country. It is not about where we teach, it is about what we teach and how we teach
our students. It has everything to do with personal attitude and perspective. I think the
idea behind is having students from different cultures. Like Ms. Sayna Darvin, she
personally coach and teach students from around the world at the comfort of her
computer. We’ll, we have a global curriculum. We have a global teacher. We are a global
school.
Reflect on the statement, “As a global teacher, act locally and think globally”. Teacher
should stick to teaching facts and information (which would help their students prepare
for the future). They teach them when they were young to understand just this and to
tell them so. They try mightily to get them to grasp that it’s in their best interests to
learn as much as they can and acquire as many skills as possible while they in their
classes just for this purpose - to be ready and able to be successful at whatever they
choose to do years later. Teachers never know how far our influences and efforts will
go but we hope our students do good in the world. In short, just be professional.
