Lesson Plan: Sectors of ICT and its Careers and Business Opportunities

Subject/ Grade Level: TLE 7th Grade


Lesson Duration: 50 minutes
Objectives:
- Students will be able to identify different sectors of Information and Communication
Technology (ICT).
- Students will understand the various career opportunities available within each sector.
- Students will explore the business opportunities related to ICT.

Materials:
- Whiteboard or chalkboard
- Markers or chalk
- Handouts with information about different sectors of ICT
- Computers or tablets (optional)
- Internet access (optional)

Introduction (10 minutes):


1. Begin the lesson by asking students if they are familiar with the term "ICT" and what it
stands for. Write their responses on the board.
2. Explain that ICT stands for Information and Communication Technology and it
encompasses various sectors that involve the use of technology for communication and
information processing.
3. Discuss with students the importance of ICT in our daily lives and how it has transformed
various industries.
4. Introduce the concept of different sectors within ICT, such as software development,
network administration, web design, cybersecurity, and data analysis.
5. Provide examples of how each sector is used in real-life scenarios, such as software
developers creating mobile apps, network administrators managing computer networks, web
designers creating websites, cybersecurity experts protecting data, and data analysts
analyzing large datasets.

- Use visual aids, such as diagrams or infographics, to represent the different sectors of ICT.
- Provide handouts with information about each sector for students to read and refer to
during the lesson.
- Use real-life examples and case studies to illustrate the applications of each sector.

- Provide opportunities for students to work in pairs or small groups to discuss and share

6. Facilitate a class discussion after each presentation to allow students to ask questions
and share their thoughts.

3. Discuss the importance of considering personal interests and skills when exploring career
options.
4. Encourage students to continue researching and exploring different sectors of ICT to
make informed decisions about their future career paths.
