PARTICIPATION IN THE 4th ABUJA NATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION 2024

The Abuja National Music Competition has been created to provide Elementary and
Secondary/High school children a platform that will allow them express their creativity and
compete against their peers in a healthy environment while strengthening their artistic prowess.
We seek to discover and support young vocalists and instrumentalists who demonstrate excellent
mastery of their arts. The purpose of the competition is to enable participants gain exposure, to aid
in developing their skills and to promote music education and performance in Nigeria and beyond.

Having taken a break for a few years, Abuja National Music Competition, invites Regent
Secondary School to participate in the 4th edition of the Abuja National Music Competition in any of
the categories of the competition which is scheduled to hold on 15th June, 2024.

The Competition

It will be a prestigious gathering of music and art elites all encouraging the young participants who
will display an array of valuable musical skills that have been perfected for the competition.

This program will feature participants from elementary/primary and secondary/high schools in and
outside Abuja. Nigeria, giving them the opportunity to compete against each other in vocal and
instrumental music. The competition is open to vocalists and instrumentalists aged 6 – 18.

Participants will go through a unique experience by taking part in this competition; they will learn
new musical pieces, receive valuable advice from expert judges made up of leading figures in the
music scene, gain recognition for their musicianship and receive prizes. For each Category there
will be a winner and a runner up.

The categories are:

1. Choral:
- Senior Choir Category
- Junior Choir Category
Minimum of 10 and maximum of 50 vocalists either/both elementary and secondary/high
schools compete. Note that elementary schools will be judged in one category while
secondary/high schools will also be judged as another category.

2. Ensemble: Minimum of 10 and maximum of 40 instrumentalists playing at least six (6) or


more instruments from both elementary and secondary schools compete as a group.

3. Solo Instrumentalist: Maximum of two (2) Individuals per instrument from a school,
compete using any of the following musical instruments namely

- Violin (Elementary or Secondary)
- Voice (Elementary or Secondary)
- Saxophone (Elementary or Secondary)
- Piano (Elementary or Secondary)
Performances will not exceed 5 Minutes. One winner and first runner-up for each category
will emerge. For schools with both Elementary & Secondary/High School, each section will
be judged separately.

The Organizer

Abba Music School is the organizer of the competition and specializes in providing exceptional
music services. This is carried out in a creative and stimulating environment to enable the students

In Conclusion

If your school is interested in participating in the competition, kindly fill the registration form
attached and email to info@anmcompetition.org. Alternatively, you can submit the registration
form at Abba Music School, No 8 CC Onoh Close, Off Ogbemudia Crescent, off Abba Kyari, Zone
E Legislative Quarters, Apo Gudu. Abuja

Note: Payment must be made with registration by June 7th 2024, and participation is on a ‘first-
come-first-serve’ basis. Music pieces will be given upon submission of registration forms. Please
list out the names of the participants from your school and submit to us three weeks before the
stipulated date of the competition.

If your school is unable to participate, you are most welcomed to be part of our audience at a fee
for the event. We believe the event will provide a rewarding experience for your school and your
students’ appreciation of music.
