Introduction
The CHED Memorandum Order No. 104. s. 2017 specifically requires all student trainees
to submit a training manual upon completion of the training. Hence, the creation of this
manual.
This training manual contains guidance for the students of Bachelor of Science in Civil
Engineering program who are required to undergo On-the-Job Training/Practicum
program with any identified Host Training Establishments (HTE) after completing the
third-year level of the courses specified in the curriculum. This material provides
directions as to what to expect from the trainees and HTE. It contains, among others, the
statements of the duties and responsibilities of both parties, the modality of engagement,
and the description of how the trainees will be monitored and evaluated. In general, the
manual sets the governing rules enforceable in the duration of the training course. To
succeed, these rules shall be known by heart. Thus, a copy of this manual shall form part
of the important possessions of the students.

REFLECTIONS
As an intern in civil engineering, I had the chance to obtain real-world experience through practical
instruction. The 240-hour internship took place in the location of DPWH Davao Oriental 2nd Deo Brgy,
Matiao, Mati City. I was able to put the theoretical knowledge I had learned in school to use because of
the variety of tasks I was given in my profession. My ability to use software like AutoCAD and STAAD,
comprehend building materials, and apply engineering principles in real-world situations has all
improved greatly as a result of this practical experience.
Seeing how theoretical principles are applied in the actual world was one of the most important
components of my internship. In addition to project planning and site surveys, I also helped with
structural analysis. Dealing with unforeseen site conditions and project delays were just two of the
difficulties I encountered. These circumstances did, however, present excellent chances for problem-
solving, and I learnt how to approach them by consulting more seasoned team members, looking into
viable fixes, and working together.
The internship also provided a chance to advance professionally. I developed my communication skills
by interacting with coworkers, supervisors, and other stakeholders, and I helped team projects by clearly
communicating complicated information. Time management was critical, especially while working on
numerous tasks at the same time. This experience taught me the value of prioritizing tasks and
maintaining organization. In addition, I found myself adapting to new situations and learning about parts
of civil engineering that I had never considered before.

REFLECTIONS
One of the highlights of my experience was helping with laboratory work and material testing for a new
project. My work had a tangible impact on the project's progress and the company's overall objectives.
Receiving encouraging feedback from my training buddy, as well as credit for my accomplishments, was
both enjoyable and inspiring.
Reflecting on this experience, I am more confident in my future career goals in civil engineering. The
internship has reaffirmed my interest in structural and road construction, as well as offered up new
professional opportunities. I know that there are areas where I may improve, especially in terms of
project management and execution. Overall, I am pleased with my experience and appreciative for the
opportunity to develop both technically and professionally. This internship has not only increased my
awareness of the sector, but it has also given me a better sense of direction for my future efforts.
