P. Ramlee all time is legend. I want to live for another 1000 years. That was the phrase that he said to one of his friend. However his jokes seems to become a reality. That was the introduction for Allahyarham Tan Sri Teuku Zakaria bin Teuku Nyak Putih the great actor and artist. He was well. Known with the name of P.Ramlee who was not just talented but also the all time icon. Who wontt laugh watching his jokes? Who wont enjoy listening to his songs? Who wont shed their tears while watching his touching acting? Who wont amazed by his directed movies? It is really hard to find another individual that can compete with his talents and abilities. Not to say any actors could replace P.Ramlee. Until today, non of the artist are qualify to replace him as a multi-talented artist. He is still the best regardless comparing him with the artists during his time or even nowadays.

P. Ramlee whose real name is Teuku Zakaria Bin Teuku Nyak Puteh, was born in Penang on the 22nd of March 1929, on the morning of Aidilfitri for that year. He was born in his maternal grandmother house. After 44 days he was taken to his parents home in Kampung Jawa, but in later years keep coming to Counter Hall until his ground breaking more to the illustrious studio of the Shaw Brothers in Singapore. His background, start from his personal life, his father was an immigrant, a sailor from Lhoksemauwe in Aceh, Indonesia While his mother Che Mah binti Hussein originated from Kubang Buaya, Seberang Prai Penang. Dato Aziz Sattar say about his education, P. Ramlee has received his early schooling at the Malay School in Kampung Jawa and later at the Francis Light School until standard five. He subsequently continued his education at the Penang School. During the Japanese Occupation of Malaya, he was unable to continue with his schooling. In order to make a living, he worked as an office boy at a Tine Mine. At the same time, he also enrolled at the Japanese Army school and had brief opportunity to acquaint himself with the Japanese language and music. His hardworking and friendly disposition made him popular with the Japanese soldiers. When world war II ended, P. Ramlee continued his schooling at the Penang free school up to standard seven. He was active in sport and Sepak Raga in 1939 and he also represented his school in the football team. Intringuingly enough, Malaysians could do well to thank none other than their Japanese occupiers of the second world war for refining the talents of the boy who would someday become the countrys greatest screen idol. 3.0 History Of P.Ramlee

Opinion Dato Aziz Sattar about history of P. Ramlee is P.Ramlee is the son of Teuku Nyak Putih Teuku Karim with Che Mah Hussein. They were married since 1925. P.Ramlee was born in his grandmothers house which located at 40A, Counter Hall, Penang, Malaya.

P.Ramlee started his early aducation at Sekolah Melayu Kampung Jawa and later on moved to Francis Light School. Before the war, P.Ramlee stand on opportunity to further his study in Penang Free School. However, he was unable to accomplish his study. During the second world war, P.Ramlee received his education at the Japanese Navy School. Starting from playing ukele, P.Ramlee moved on to guitar and biola under the guidance of Encik Kamaruddin ( Brass band Instruktor of Penang Free School ). He joined the Orkes Teruna Sekampung and became the champion of the singing competition organized by Penang Radio Station in 1947. He was also selected as the First Star Singer of Malaya. During that competition, he placed the alphabet P ( for Puteh) before his name anad remain the name P.Ramlee until the end of his life. For the following year, P.Ramlee together with his friend named Mohd Yusop established a brass band named Pancaragam Mustika. He was invited to singing during the Agricultural Show at Bukit Mertajam. Coincidently, B. Rahjans was there searching for new talent. After watching the show, he offered P.Ramlee to come to Singapore. At the same year as well, P.Ramlee went there. His first movie was CHINTA in 1948. His character was a mafia and background singer. His career develop continuously until he successfully acting in 27 movies between 1948 until 1955. Dato Aziz Sattar also sharing a story about their life, P.Ramlee get married for the first time in 1953 with the daughter of an artist. Her name is Junaidah Daeng Haris. They were bless with two children named Mohd Nasir and Arfan. After divorced with his first wife in 1954, P.Ramlee married with Norizan at 6th of February 1955. But they divorced in 1961. After that P.Ramlee married for third time with Salmah Ismail (Saloma) at 21st of November 1961. Saloma be with P.Ramlee until the end of his life. Unfortunately they were not blessed with any child. So, P.Ramlee decided to adopt some foster children named Betty, Zakiah@ Zazaloma, Sabaruddin@ Badin and Dian. Starting from the first movie CHINTA until his last master piece Laksamana Do Re Mi, P.Ramlee had filmed in 66 movies in local movie industry, while in the music industry, he

presented 359 songs. P.Ramlee had won numerous of awards during the Asia Film Festival held in Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Singapore, Taipe and Tokyo as well as International Film Festival. P.Ramlee died of heart attact on 29th May 1973, Tuesday Morning. His body was prayed in Kampung Barus mosque and was buried at the cemetery of Muslims at Jalan Ampang. May his body and soul blessed by Allah s.w.t. In order to remember his priceless contribution, he was honoured with the title Bintang Kebesaran Darjah Panglima Setia Mahkota by Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Dipertuan Agung at 1990 that carried the title of Tan Sri. 4.0 The way to become a greates artist

As a closed friend, Dato Aziz Sattar also know how P. Ramlee become a greates artist. He says P. Ramlee was under the tutelage of the brass band head of the Penang Free School, Encik Kamaruddin, when the Japanese invaded and he was forced to stop schooling. He soon attend the Kaigun, a Japanese navy school, where while picking up Japanese songs he was trained in violin, piano, and ukulele under the tutorship of Hirake San. He later learnt to strum the guitar from Zain Kechik, the head of the Bintang Sore Band. Ramlees own first band was Teruna Sekampung- a collection of young eager beavers who were only too happy to jam away at wedding reception and other reception and other festive occasion with their violin, drum set, saxophone, double bass and couple of guitars. He then joined the Mutiara band and still later the Pancaragam Keroncong Pemuda Indonesia as its viola player. It is with this last band that at the age of 18 years he won a regional contest for band in Penang and Province Wellesley for the song Keroncong Oh Suci, which he belted out himself. That same years he was also chosen as North Malaya s star singer in a contest organized by Radio Pulau Pinang. It was during this event that he first used the initial P from his fathers name, Puteh, in front of his own. In fact, unknown to many, Ramlees original name was Teuku Zakaria bin Teuku Nyak Puteh. His father the Achehnese sailor, later change it on the advise his elder brother. Today, coconut trees still sway near Ramlees birth place and children in surrounding village can be heard at play just like age ago.

The beginning of his career

Even as a teenager, his steady resonant voice so impressed his neighbors that he was frequently asked to be a muezzin and call out daily Muslim prayers at Kampung Jawa Baru mosque. In 1948, B. S. Rajhans, a Singaporean director scouting for talents, attended an agricultural show in which Ramlees band just so happened to be invited to perform. Rajhans was instantly taken with the band and Ramlees marvelous delivery of Azizah. He asked Ramlee and his friend Sukardi if they would be interested in a screen test for the show Brothers Malay film productions. On the morning of August 8, Ramlee and Sukardi boarded a train at the Butterworth railway terminal, their excited minds set on the famed studio far South in Singapore. Rajhans himself later directed Ramlees first movie called Chinta, which featured Siput Sarawak playing the female lead. Ramlee was cast as the villain and was also the background singer. 6.0 How P. Ramlee got an inspiration to created a movie.

We know that is some one so appreciated about time. He always said that time is gold . He love he work very much. Maybe that why he cant created so grand story in his movie. P. Ramlee is devout person. He always said all his idea to made a movie become from god. If God dont give that an idea nothing he can he do. P. Ramlee is a nice person, friendly and also a polite person. He set on his mine that anything happen around him can give an idea such as how he got an idea for Penarik Beca film. Before he got an idea to make Penarik Beca film, he had spoke with some one was trishaw puller. They had spoke about their experiences in their live. From that chatter, P. Ramlee got his idea to make Penarik Beca film. This movie got many award. That film had touch watcher feeling. When P. Ramlee got an idea to write a new story for film, he right through writte it untill done. Some time to writte that story take three or four day to finish and all that time he never rest.

Secret of succeed.

P. Ramlee hold five matter to succeed, the thing are discipline, total comprehension, identify, cherish or love and feel with soul. Only hold with five this five matters, P. Ramlee can create the best film. P. Ramlee is not a stingy person, he share his secret with other. He want any one can be the best, he dont want only him can be the best. Discipline is very important thing. Without discipline nothing can do. Discipline can be divided to many thing, such as disciplin in time, this is the most P. ramlee cares of, then discipline in behavior, discipline in work and many else. Discipline can train some one to be more good in what matter he want do. Then about total comprehension. Without total comprehension in character and film, we cannot act that character really are. So the character is fail to be nature. So, P. Ramlee always give scrip early about three weeks before shooting the film. So, all the time before shooting will bw use to practice and understand what the character want. So, when the shooting time, the actor and actress can act with total comprehension. After that is identify. The meaning of indentify is we should know wahat is mean point of the film story. Is there story is romantic film, love story, action, comedy or many else. After we know what kind of story, then we should indentify the character that we hold in the story. Indentify the characterization of the character really are, is it the character is serious person, moody person, friendly person, cheerpul person or many else. When we indentify the character, we can know what kind of characterization for that chracter and easy for be the character. After we identify the character characterization, then we need to love our character n try to be the character. When we love and accept the character all our heart, we can be the character naturaly. The succesfull story in a film is depend at the film actor and actress how they acting there character. If they success in there acting and there acting can bring effect to watcher heart such as compassion when watch there film and laugh when see the actor and actress make joke , it mean their act are success that why, how important to actor and actress to love thier character.

The differences P. Ramlee film with the film in this era is about quality. The proof can we see is feedback from watcher. P. Ramlee film is more quality than any film in this era. Wathcer love to wacth P.ramlee film untill now but now watcher just love to wacth in short estimate and feel easy boring wacthing the story. P. Ramlee also know the fans like, that why he create all kind of story for satisfaction to society. That he said that art is for society, not for money. But now, people just think how to make a money and less about quality. Then only think satisfaction for one side. His fallen era

Ramlee had his critical career when Malayan Union conducted Tanah Melayu. Malayan Unions rules making Ramlees work hard. Malayan Union prohibited people work more than eight hour. So, for Ramlee, its so difficult for him work because he need more than eight hour to doing a movies shooting. Another problem that gave big effect to his career is when he came back to Tanah Melayu and worked with company at Tanah Melayu. The budget that company gave to him to making a film is not enough compare to company at Singapore. So, that means money is another problem to him to directing the movies which always used a big budget. His last movies that he plan to make at Tanah Melayu is Tongkat Bujang Lapok but before he could make that movie, he got a heart attack. Ramlee died at 5.30 am on 29 May 1973 (Tuesday) at age 44. He buried at the Muslim cemetery of Jalan Ampang Kuala Lumpur. Before he died, he had told Dato Aziz Satar to work honestly and sincere and he also told Aziz that the artistic is for community not only for money. 11.0 Sad Or Pain Moments Of P. Ramlee The other pain moment to remember for P. Ramlee is time when P.Ramlee divorce with Junaidah. Junaidah is the first wife of P. Ramlee. P. Ramlee and Junaidah have divorce many time but their rujuk come back. But in the end their still divorce. The reason why the divorce happen is Junaidah have big jealous. The other love story in P. Ramlee life is, P. Ramlee fall in love with Norizan. Now, Norizan is step mother of Sultan Perak they cant be together because the other person. P. Ramlee oblige to give Norizan to the other person. The last wife didt problem but the early marriage with Saloma, P. Ramlee didt have any feeling toward Saloma. But in the end, their relationship become close and Saloma become last wife and P. Ramlee start fall in love with Saloma. So, their life together until P. Ramlee died. 12.0 Opinion about P. Ramlee property.

Although P. Ramlee his work perfect, he never force who are work with him for his own goodness. For him art for society not for money. P. Ramlee also an open hearted person. according his friend, Aziz Sattar, have one day, when Aziz Sattar and P. Ramlee go out to town, he had meet a lady and her son cry because hungry and dont have money to buy a ticket to go home. In that time P. Ramlee only have RM20.00 in his pocket but he not take a long time to think to give all his money to that lady and his son. When Aziz Sattar see P. Ramlee give his money to that lady, Aziz Sattar angry with him and said that money only they had now, to put car fuels and to eat. But P. Ramlee calm and just said that money he give to that lady is not his mine but that lady mine because if that money is his mine, the God will never send that lady and his son to ask for his help. So the money belong to her. 13.0 Opinion Of People Toward P. Ramlee

P. Ramlee is the only one and didt have any instead. Her attitude very different with other. The best thing of P. Ramlee is her filem and her movie very different and everyone cant create the fillem like what P. Ramlee did. Very hard to find person who have talented like what P. Ramlee have. Only one P. Aziz Satar said, everything have with P.Ramlee. Meaning the word is P.Ramlee have many talented like singing, be an actor, musician, director, composer and many talented. Actually P.Ramlee did;t have any background about all the talented. The talented come from herself and try to make her talented shine. The other opinion toward P.Ramlee is he is the caring person. Aziz Satar said like that because P.Ramlee willing be hard with her friend. One story Aziz Satar tell us as a prove is one night, they have function at Hotel and after function they can stay at this hotel, but Aziz Satar have go to her untie house. The Aziz Satar auntie house very despised because they have sleep only at mat call tikar mengkuang and the floor only ground. The atap have pole and if the rain the house become wet. But P. Following is the list of those who are within the same epoch with P.Ramlee. Fristly, Ahmad Nefsu was originated from Tanjung Tokong, Pulau Pinang. Before becoming an actor, he was a part of the nobility. He started his acting career together with P.Ramlee in the movie entitled Seniman Bujang Lapok. He was known as Pak Besar ( Uncle Big) as he has a big nose. He is one of P.Ramlees favourite artist. Second, Aziz Sattar was born in Surabaya, Indonesia. He went to Studio Jalan Ampas, Singapore to work in the dubbing department. Mean while, he also involved himself in acting as well as stage performance. P.Ramlee decided to hired him to become part of the trio in Bujang Lapok due of his unique sense of humor. Third, Jamil Sulong started working at Malay Film Productions as a translator. He was born in Parit Sulong, Johor. Later on, he became the assistant director. Jamil Sulong was very good at Composing proverbial verses. He used to compose song for P.Ramlee as well. Mohamad Zain Samsuddin or also known as Jins Shamsuddin, was originated fom Taiping. He went for P.Ramlees audition and get selected as the supporting character. He learned a lot fron P.Ramlee. P.Ramlee was known as very difficult in accepting acting offer from other directors. However, Jins Shamsuddin was able to pursue him to participate in the movie entitled Bukan Salah Ibu Mengandung. Saadiah was well known as she is the one of the female artist and actress that frequently collaborated with P.Ramlee. Saadiah involved in the filming industry after moving back and forth to the studio in Jalan Ampas to accompany her sister named Mariam. Saadiah preferred to play the role of women to led a pitiful life and she refuses to hold the role of adulteress. S.Shamsuddin was educated by P.Ramlees father- in-law named Daeng Haris. His specialties are his flexible body movements and eloquent tongue while delivering his speech. He was stared in 5 movies of Bujang Lapok, Antara Dua Darjat and Panggilan Pulau. S.Sudarmadji started to serve in Malay film production as a continuity clark. He was originated from a multi talented artistic background. He was P.Ramlees assistant song editor. Besides he was also P.Ramlee closest friend. S.Kadarisman was originated from an artistic background. He started acting in the movie entitled Menantu Derhaka under the company in Indonesia. He was incharged of film filtrate in Malay film production. He can hold any kind of characters. Movies that involved the collaboration between him and P.Ramlee are Labu Labi and Madu Tiga. Kasma Booty was a very gentle actress that originated from Medan, Indonesia. She was born in an artistic family. Similar to P.Ramlee, Kasma Booty was screen tested by B.S Rajhans and became the actress for Malay Film Productions. Kasma used to partner with P.Ramlee in Bakti, Sejoli, Juwita and Damaq. P.Ramlees Movies

As far as we concern, P.Ramlee was dedicated to be an artist ever since he was young. His develop his interest after he was inspired by Hollywood celebrities such as Tom Mis and Buck Jones. P.Ramlee continue his journey to Singapore on 9th of August 1948 after receiving the invitation from B.Sh.Rahjans. P.Ramlee started to step out his first step to the world. Starting from his first movie entitle Chinta, he was given a minor character in that movie. He was really a versatile artist. He can play different characters and roles. P.Ramlee had work really hard to measure his name in the arena of local movie industry. P.Ramlee was strong to overcome challenges such as contract as well as salary problem. Entering me to the world of movie is just a coincident, because I never thought that I will become an actor. I would say it was a coincident because when I was in Penang, B.S Rajhans was the director of the Malay Film Production Studio who discovered and invited me to Singapore for a movie production. At first, I was hesitate to follow him to Singapore, but Rajhan insisted me to go, so I just followed him and become part of the family of Malay Film Production said P.Ramlee. P.Ramlee drastically achieved his greatest success. B.S Rajhans took him to the world of filming, but L.Krishan made him the star. P.Ramlee achieved his success continuously.

However, what he really desire was, One day, I would like to see one of my movie during the Cannes Festival. In the filming industry, P.Ramlee stand a chance to work with almost all the artist during those days, which included Kasma Booty, Siput Sarawak, Rokiah, Neng Yatimah, Rosnani, Saadiah, Aini Hayati, Normadiah, Zaiton, Sarimah, Latifah Omar and Maria Menado. The movie entitle Penarik Becha was the stepping stone for P.Ramlee as this movie received a lots of awards and recognitions. Other than awards, P.Ramlee was also the second Malay that was appointed to be the Director at Malay Film Production. Ever since that movie, P.Ramlee only acting in 3 movies under different directors. Other than that, he will be the main figure.

P.Ramlee only attended school 10 days per month. For the rest of the time, he will travel along with the brass band. P.Ramlee showed his interest in music starting from his early age. He spend most of his time at Tuan Kamaruddins house to learn guitar and biola. P.Ramlee was the song arranger for his brass band named Mustika. During that time P.Ramlee started to composed songs such as Azizah, Baidah, Abang Dollah, Mee Jawa, Joget Melayu, Malam Thaipusam and Padang Kota. P.Ramlee participated in a singing competition organized by Radio Malaya, Penang. He won the forth prize for the first time in 1945. Then he moved on to second prize for the following year. Later, he became the champion singer of Utara Malaya which was organized by Radio Malaya. Then P.Ramlees talent continue to develop once he moved to Singapore. Many of his creations were included in numerous of Malay Film Productions movies in Singapore as well as Merdeka Film Production in Kuala Lumpur. During 1951, his songs started to be recorded. Most of his songs are from his own movies. There were a lot of experiences and hardships that he had to go thought in order to record his album. We will never feel bored listening to P.Ramlees songs. His soulful voice together with sweet rhythm result in his songs become the favourite of everyone. The popularity of his songs also boast up his own popularity as a multi dimensional artist. According to P.Ramlee, composing songs have to depend on the soul of the writer or songs composer. If he or she is sad, then her or his song will be impossible to show joyful rhythm. If the composer is happy, then he or she are unable to show the pain of a pitiful soul.

P.Ramlee have married for three times. His first time married with Junaidah Daeng Harris in 1950 but their marriage only surviving about four years. His second marriage with Noorizan Mohd Noor in 6 February 1955. However, Norizan expect something more than their marriage but P. Ramlee more concentrating his life to his art career which resulted their marriage crack. His last married with Salmah Ismail (Saloma) in 21 November 1961 within very simple ceremony with his nearest friends. Woman in P.Ramlees life love him on different reasons. His first wife, Junaidah, love P.Ramlee when he yet famous while Noorizan love P.Ramlee as an artist and famous movie maker. Death

On 29 May 1973 P. Ramlee died at the age of 44 due to heart problems and was buried in Jalan Ampang Muslim Cemetery, Kuala Lumpur. In 1986, in honour of his contributions to the Malaysian entertainment industry, the P. Ramlee Memorial was set up in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. In 1982, Jalan Parry in the KL city centre has been renamed Jalan P. Ramlee in his honor. He was posthumously awarded with the Malaysian honorific title Tan Sri in the early 1990s. Recently, he was also posthumously awarded the honorific title of 'Datuk Amar' by Sarawak State Government. Upon the conferment of the award, the Chief Minister of Sarawak, Pehin Sri Dr. Hj Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is a vivid fan of P. Ramlee, later presented the award to her daughter, Dian P. Ramlee in a ceremony honoring veteran artistes in Kuching. 21.0 Conclusion

Abrey : Sebagai kenalan yang terdekat, Bapak lebih tahu banyak perkara mengenai Tan. Sri P. Ramlee. Mungkin Bapak boleh bercerita serba sedikit tentang latar belakang Tan. Sri. P. Ramlee. Bapak : Apa yang Bapak tahu. P.Ramlee telah dilahirkan pada 22 Mac 1929 di pagi Hari Raya Aidilfitri. P.Ramlee telah dilahirkan di rumah neneknya di 40A, Counter Hall, Penang, Malaya. P.Ramlee memulakan pendidikan awal beliau di Sekolah Melayu Kampung Jawa dan kemudiannya ke Francis Light School. Sebelum perang meletus, P.Ramlee sempat menyambung pelajarannya ke Penang Free School tetapi tidak sempat menamatkannya. Semasa Perang Dunia Ke 2, P.Ramlee telah mendapat pendidikan di Japanese Navy School. Bermula dengan bermain ukele, P. Ramlee beralih kepada gitar dan biola di bawah bimbingan Encik Kamaruddin (pemimpin brass band di Penang Free School). Beliau menyertai Orkes Teruna Sekampung dan kemudian Sinaran Bintang Sore. Ramlee daripada dua pelakon terkenal India Selatan iaitu MGR dan Sivaji Ganesan. Filem terakhir lakonan beliau ialah "Laksamana Do Re Mi" pada tahun 1972 dan lagu dan lirik terakhirnya adalah "Ayer Mata Di Kuala Lumpur" pada tahun 1973 sebelum beliau menghembuskan nafas terakhirnya.

Bapak : Boleh... P.Ramlee buat pertama kalinya mendirikan rumah tangga dengan anak salah seorang seniman ketika itu. Isterinya yang dimaksudkan ialah Junaidah Daeng Haris. Melangsungkan perkahwinan mereka pada tahun 1953. Kemudian mereka dikurniakan 2 orang cahaya mata. Iaitu, Mohd Nasir dan Arfan. Setelah bercerai pada tahun 1954, P.Ramlee berkahwin dengan Norizan pada 6 Februari 1955. Namun begitu perkahwinan mereka tidak dapat bertahan lama. Mereka bercerai pada tahun 1961. Pada tahun yang sama, P.Ramlee bertemu dengan Salmah Ismail atau pun lebih dikenali dengan nama Saloma. Kemudiannya mereka telah diijab kabulkan pada 21 November 1961. Saloma telah menemani P.Ramlee dalam suka mahupun duka

: Bagaimana Tan. Sri. P. Ramlee menceburkan diri dalam dunia perfileman ?

Bapak : Seperti yang kita tahu, semenjak kecil lagi P.Ramlee memang mempunyai cita-cita untuk menjadi anak seni. Minatnya dipupuk apabila melihat bintang Hollywood seperti Tom Mis dan Buck Jones. Bertolak ke Singapura pada 9 Ogos 1948 atas undangan B.Sh.Rajhans. P.Ramlee mula mengorak langkah di dalam dunia. Bermula dengan filem Chinta, P.Ramlee telah pun diberi watak kecil di dalam filem tersebut. P.Ramlee sememangnya dikenali sebagi seniman yang serba boleh. Pelbagai watak dan dan peranan telah pun dilakonkannya. Banyak perkara yang telah P.Ramlee melalui demi mengukur namanya di persada seni tanah air. Berdepan dengan masalah kontrak dan juga gaji, P.Ramlee tetap tabah mengharunginya. "Masuknya saya ke dalam dunia filem hanya secara kebetulan sahaja, kerana tidak pernah terlintas dalam hati saya untuk menjadi seorang pelakon. Secara kebetulan saya katakan kerana sewaktu saya di Pulau Pinang, B.S.Rajhans yang menjadi pengarah di Studio Malay Film Production telah menemui saya dan mengajak saya ke Singapura untuk berlakon dalam filem. Pada mulanya agak keberatan juga rasanya saya hendak ikut ke Singapura. Tetapi kerana terlalu kuat desakan dari Rajhan, maka ikut juga ke Singapura dan menjadi keluarga Malay Film Productions." Itu adalah katanya. P.Ramlee dengan pantas mencapai kejayaan yang besar. B.S. Rajhans membawa dia ke dunia filem, tetapi L.Krishan membuat dia jadi bintang. Kejayaan demi kejayaan diraih P.Ramlee. Namun begitu apa yang lebih diidamkannya ialah, "Pada satu hari nanti, hendaknya akan dapatlah melihat salah satu dari gambar filem saya itu dipertunjukkan di Pesta Cannes."

Dalam penglibatan dunia perfileman, P.Ramlee telah digandingkan dengan hampir kesemua seniwati yang ada ketika itu. Diantaranya Kasma Booty, Siput Sarawak, Rokiah, Neng Yatimah, Rosnani, Saadiah, Aini Hayati, Normadiah, Zaiton, Sarimah, Latifah Omar dan Maria Menado.

: Seperti yang kita tahu, Tan. Sri P. Ramlee memang seseorang yang berbakat dan mahir bermain alat muzik. Bagaimana Tan Sri. P. Ramlee mengembangkan bakatnya ?

Bapak : P.Ramlee hanya hadir ke sekolah sebanyak 10 hari dalam sebulan. Selebih hari-harinya banyak dihabiskan dengan ke sana ke mari mengikut pasukan pancaragam. Sejak kecil lagi P.Ramlee memang berminat bermain muzik. Tidak hairanlah jika banyak masa dihabiskan di rumah Tuan Kamaruddin untuk belajar bermain gitar dan biola. P.Ramlee juga menjadi penyusun lagu-lagu pancaragam bernama Mustika. Ketika itu P.Ramlee mula mencipta lagu seperti Azizah, Baidah, Abang Dollah, Mee Jawa, Joget Melayu, Malam Thaipusam, dan Padang Kota.

P.Ramlee menyertai pertandingan menyanyi di Radio Malaya, Pulau Pinang kali pertama pada 1945. Tempat ke-4 pada tahun itu dan melonjak ke tempat ke 2 untuk tahun berikutnya. Menjadi juara penyanyi untuk Utara Malaya anjuran Radio Malaya. Kemudian bakat P.Ramlee berkembang setelah beliau berhijrah ke Singapura. Lagu-agu ciptaannya banyak dimuatkan dalam filem-filem Malay Film Productions di Singapura dan Merdeka Film Productions di Kuala Lumpur.

Pada tahun 1951, lagu-lagu P.Ramlee mula direkodkan di dalam piring hitam. Kebanyakan lagu adalah dari filem-filem lakonannya. Banyak pengalaman yang ditempuhinya dalam usahanya merakam lagu.

Lagu-lagu P.Ramlee tidak bosan kita mendengarnya, bahkan indah kedengaran ditelinga kita. Pembawaan suaranya menggema merdu, lagu-lagunya membawa irama manis. Menjadi nyanyian dan siulan umum. Terkenalnya lagu-lagu itu bertambah terpuja nama

Abrey : P.Ramlee terkenal kerana arahan filem filemnya. Bermula dari bilakah P. Ramlee berjinak jinak untuk mengarah filem ?

Bapak : Sebenarnya, permulaan P.Ramlee menjadi seorang pengarah adalah kerana desakan minatnya dan juga rakan-rakan. Saya, S.M Shamsudin dan kenalan yang lain memujuk pengarah untuk memberi peluang kepada P.Ramlee untuk mengarah filem. Tetapi hanya kerana satu filem akhirnya dia telah diberi kepercayaan sepenuhnya untuk mengarah filem-filemnya yang lain. Filem 'Penarik Becha' pula menjadi batu loncatan kepada P.Ramlee. Ini kerana filem itu banyak memenangi anugerah. Bukan saja anugerah, tetapi P.Ramlee adalah orang Melayu kedua selepas Haji Mahdi diberikan jawatan ' Pengarah' di Malay Film Production. Sejak dari filem itu, P.Ramlee cuma berlakon 3 buah filem di bawah arahan orang lain. Selebihnya dialah teraju utama. Banyak filemfilem yang kita tengok sekarang masih mendapat tempat dihati penonton kan.. Zila : Untuk memulakan Sesuatu filem amat memerlukan modal yang besar Bapak. Tapi, bagaimana Tan. Sri P.Ramlee mendapatkan modal untuk menerbitkan filem ?

Bapak : Daripada segi modal semuanya mendapat bantuan daripada Pengarah di Malay Filem Production dan juga daripada hasil titik peluh P.Ramlee sendiri. Eton Eton : Memang besar sungguh kepercayaan yang diberikan oleh Pengarah. : Bagaimana P. Ramlee mendapatkan ilham daripada membuat filem ?

Bapak : Ini yang saya suka. Cara P.Ramlee memang bagus. Dia menerbitkan filemnya bukan hanya secara membuta tuli sahaja tetapi mempunyai kebenaran disebalik filem-filem yang diterbitkan. Kalau betul-betul kita teliti semua filem-filem yang dihasilkan pada masa dulu mempunyai kaitan pada masa sekarang sama ada dari segi ekonomi, politik, sosial mahupun di alam rumahtangga. Ju : Bapak. Bapak : P.Ramlee was born on 22 March 1929 in Hari Raya Aidilfitri morning. P.Ramlee was born at home his grandmother in 40A, Counter Hall, Penang, Malaya. P.Ramlee start his early education in Sekolah Kampung Malay Jawa and then to Francis Light School. Before war erupts, P.Ramlee just-in-time further studies its to Penang Free School but no just-in-time finish. During second World War, P.Ramlee have been educated in Japanese Navy School.
