WEEK 5 (SEPTEMBER 2-5)

MET NUMBER:
LESSON: 1st Monthly Examination
PREREQUISITE CONTENT-KNOWLEDGE:
PREREQUISITE SKILL:

INTRODUCTION:

TIME FRAME: 60 minutes

LEARNING COMPETENCY:
1. To evaluate a student's understanding of the subject matter and their ability to apply concepts learned.
2. To asses a range of skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
3. To compare the performance of students across different backgrounds and institutions.
4. To clarify that a student has met the required standards to progress to the next level of education or to enter a
profession.
5. To motivate students to study and engage more deeply with the material.

OVERVIEW
Examinations are often used as summative assessment - ie. at the end of the course to determine the student
has learned enough to meet the standards set. Examinations continue to be used, probably to veto the possibility that
the student may have plagiarized assignment work. Which is possible when using ongoing/continuous assessment.
Exams are also timed so students have a limited amount of time to write their answers.
