Preface
According to a propular saying, ' Proper guidance
guarantees Success', this is true even in admission
processing because Inexposure to necessary
information and improper guidance has led to denial of
admission for so many. Gaining admission to Top
Universities in Nigeria is often competitive and always
almost looking impossible, Federal University of
technology, akure (FUTA) which is a top ranking
University of technology in Nigeria is of no exception
but this piece is put together to ease
securing admission to study in FUTA.

I remembered years back when I was aspiring to study

in FUTA, i made it a priority to seek out for necessary
information about FUTA and everything associated with
the admission processing, this quest of mine made it
easy for me, I can recall many were denied admission
because they aren't exposed to necessary information.
I must confess truly, Information is power.

Continue reading, as you will be exposed to neccasary

information about FUTA admission processing, enjoy!

(UTME) and MAY seek admission into the following Schools in
the University

FUTA University Advanced Basic Science (UABS)

Programme
UABS Programmeis designed to prepare candidates for
Direct Entry Admission into 200 Level Undergraduate Degree
Programmes through the External Joint Universities
Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) Examination. It is full
time, and runs for one academic session of Two (2)
semesters.
Qualifications to Study in FUTA
The means of aggregate calculation in futa are
JAMB/UTME and POST UTME
The general JAMB cut off mark to apply for any course in
FUTA is exactly 180 or above to be eligible to study in
FUTA. The hidden truth is that the higher your score the
better for you because each course has it aggregate and
if your total aggregate doesn't match up with the
required aggregate for your course, you can be denied
admission or peradventure transferred to a related
course. Admission into futa is based on merit, hence
selection is behind from the highest aggregate.

Only candidates with POST UTME score of 52 and above

are considered for admission. If at the time of reading
this piece you have written your post utme and your
score is below 50, I will advise you prepare better for the
post utme next year or try out another institution
because you won't be admitted and if you haven't
written your post utme, I will implore you to give in your
best in ensuring you do well in the post utme. Kindly
note, this applies to every applicants, whether UTME,
Direct Entry, Pre Degree
As regarding your SSCE result, a minimum of credit is
required in subjects necessary for your course of
interest, in not more than two sittings.
Available Courses and their subject
combination
The reason most people get denied admission is wrong
subject combination because each courses as a specific
subject combination required to study that course and only
student with that subject combination will be grant access to
study that course. So before applying for post utme ensure
you have the correct subject combination based on the
subjects you did inJAMB and if not kindly do change of course
and apply for the course that suits your combination to avoid
future issues and if you are about applying for jamb kindly
note this courses and their combinations

This is made by careful observation of the patterns of
questions in the post utme exams over the years and this is
given to simplified the complexity in reading by
compounding the area of Concentration in the core

a very high jamb score or be discouraged because your
score was below your expectations. Start studying now for
Post UTME is a great determinant of one's admission. Don't
waste your high score.
Nonetheless, I will advise to also study out of the box.

Courses And Cut Off Marks
Cut off mark aggregate helps you to calculate your chances
and know your fate as regarding getting admitted or not.
HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR AGGREGATE
To calculate your aggregate, use this formula
Jamb score/8 + post UTME/2
Example:
For instance, Mr A 230 in UTME and 72% in post UTME.
Mr A's aggregate =
(230/8)+(72/2)
28.75+36=64.75%
With 64.75, it's crystal clear that Mr A cannot get Civil
Engineering if he applied for Civil Engineering

COURSES IN FUTA AND THEIR CUT OFF MARKS

Kindly note that FUTA does not release cut off marks. Most
times FUTA makes selection from the highest aggregate
down to the last number of student needed. For example, A
department needs 50 students since admission is on merit
selection will start from the person with the highest
aggregate that applied for that course down to the 50th
person and that all, as a result cut off marks varies yearly.
The last cut off mark that leaked is that of 2017 and it is
what we will use as a guide. As of 2017, the following are
the departmental cut off marks.

Required Documents For
Admission
As I always say there is no better way to start getting ready
necessary documents required than now because you will
need this to complete your online and physical registration.
have seen cases where aspirant are so nonchalant about

your secondary school you wrote the exam and ask them
for Waec or neco Statement of result.
They will issue one for you carrying the school stamp or
signature that will serve as proof to Futa that your o level is
verified
FREQUENT QUESTIONS YOU ASK
BUT I WROTE GCE HOW DO I GET MY RESULT ‼
Ans : Inorder to get this you have to go to the WAEC office
of the state you wrote the GCE Exam and such offices are
usually located at the state capital for example Lagos state
you can get your own at ikeja same applies to other states
or you can try the ministry or education close to you they
might be of help
Will I pay money for the Original WAEC result?

According to some sources, an older relative of the person
applying for a declaration of age must be present to attest to
the date of birth of the applicant. However, I can think of
many cases where this is not possible (orphans, or someone
living Away from their state of origin, etc)
5 STATE OF ORIGIN CERTIFICATE
Concerning this is a very long process but this is just to verify
that you truly an origin of that state.
Like I said earlier it’s a very long process Your parents are the

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
I got below 180 in JAMB or I scored below 52% in post
utme can I be considered for admission?
The answer is simply, No. FUTA is bent on 180 and
above in JAMB and 50% and above in post utme.

My aggregate is not up to the required cut off mark,

can I do change of course to another course?
It's not advisable to change your course not even
when admission has started because it will takes time
to reflect on JAMB caps and after Post Utme , it won't
reflect on FUTA portal. The only anything you can do is
wait for Jamb to transfer you to another course or try
again next year.

How do I know if I have been admitted?

You can check your admission status on JAMB portal
via the link this https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility_/
