RAINBOW IN A GLASS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OBJECTIVES:
Create a rainbow glass using sugar solution.
Identify which amount of sugar create the most dense liquid.
Identify the structure and composition of sugar which can make the liquid denser.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MATERIALS:
Food Coloring
White sugar ugar
Clear Glass
Water
Pipette
Table Spoon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROCEDURES:
● The students must first Fill 7 glasses with the exact amount of water.
● To each glass, They Added 1-2 drops of food coloring.
● After that, The students Added different amount of sugar using the table spoon in seperate glass of water to
create of varying densities, And then they stirred it until the sugar dissolves.
● Lastly ,After thoroughly dissolving the sugar in each container and allowing the solutions to rest, the
students carefully layered the solutions using a dropper or pipette in a tall, narrow container.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RESULTS & DISCUSSION:
The experiment highlights the crucial role of density in the behavior of mixed solutions. The distinct color layers
formed due to the precise control of sugar concentration, although some colors mixed slightly. The layers were
created based on density differences.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CONCLUSION:
The experiment effectively demonstrated the relationship between sugar concentration and solution density. As
more sugar was dissolved, the solution's density increased, which was visually confirmed by layering solutions of
different densities.
