ACTIVITY 2 (TOPIC # 8)

A. Identifying the stages of lesson planning. Choose the correct answer:

a) during 1.This is the stage of lesson planning in which you will need to present the
core material to all students, again and supervise group work and /or monitor
individual practice sessions for every student in class.
a) during b) before c) after

2. Activities b. before the lesson includes developing the lesson plan itself,
deciding on the methods of presentation, selecting the text, preparing the
materials/worksheets to be used during the lesson, and assigning task, if any, to
peer tutors.
a) during b) before c) after
3. c. after the lesson you may want to evaluate the lesson plan and
think remedial methods for weak students. Reflecting on how what worked
and what didn‛t go so well will help you improve future lessons.
a) during b) before c) after
B.Fill in the blank with the correct word to the complete teaching strategies
that enable multi-grade teacher address the needs of each child linked to his
or her age, maturity, interests, capacities, and capabilities. Select from the
words inside the box and write the letter only.

4. Group C. For some activities, divide your students into mixed-ability groups.
This will encourage students of different backgrounds to include each other in their
work. You may then want to group students by age or grade for skill subjects (such
as reading and writing, arithmetic, and science)

5. Prepare A and appropriate materials. For grouping to be effective, materials

and teaching must be varied and made challenging to accommodate the learning
needs of students with different levels of ability. Develop a variety of worksheets to
be used with diverse groups in multigrade classroom situations; these could include
teacher-guided activity sheets, group learning worksheets, individual practice
worksheets, and peer directed instruction sheets
6. Promote B learning. While helping students to perform activities together, at the
same time ensure that they are allowed to move through the curriculum at their own
pace. This should help them achieve the set learning objectives for each grade’s
curriculum.

7. Give D attention to children with special education needs. Ensure that students
with disabilities, learning difficulties, and include special preparation in terms of
separate worksheets and more individual attention depending on the nature and
degree of their special education needs.

C. Think how you can plan/ design lesson for multi-grade classroom using the
instructional
strategies learned .Plan first by completing the chart. Search/create for sample activities
and fill
out the chart

2. What are some preparations you can do to design an effective lesson plan for
multi-grade classes?
Some preparations I can do to design an effective lesson plan for multi-grade
classes include assessing students' prior knowledge through a pre-topic test to
ensure that everyone is accommodated in the lesson. I also ensure there are
appropriate activities suitable for a multi-grade class, such as group work that
encourages collaboration and peer teaching, differentiated tasks to cater to
varying abilities, and incorporating technology for interactive learning experiences.
3. How is your learning relevant or useful to you as a pre-service teacher?
As a pre-service teacher, my learning is relevant and useful because it equips me
with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively teach and nurture students,
especially in this digital age. I can teach essential skills like making a PowerPoint
presentation, using laptops effectively, and navigating online resources, which are
increasingly important for students' future academic and professional success.
Additionally, my learning enables me to create inclusive and engaging learning
environments that cater to diverse student needs and promote active participation
and learning.

Grouping Strategies (cooperative groups, pair-share and others) are
incorporated aside from using the instructional strategies learned in this
module.

E. Reflective Writing
Fill out this blank .From the Topic # 8 on Instructional Strategies in Multigrade Class,
I realized how important it is to plan lessons carefully for classrooms with different
grades. It's crucial to adapt the curriculum and create activities that work well for all
students, regardless of their grade level. I also learned about different teaching
methods like team teaching and peer teaching, which can make learning more fun
and effective. As a future educator, this knowledge is really helpful. It teaches me
how to make lessons interesting and useful for all students, no matter their age or
ability. It also shows me the importance of using different teaching methods to keep
students engaged and learning well.
