Mutiny
-an open rebellion against the proper
authorities, especially by soldiers or
sailors against their officers.
-comes from an old verb “mutine” which
means “revolt”
Mutineers
-included Indios, Mestizo’s, and Crillos
(Spaniards born in Mexico and exiled in
Cavite)
It describes an uprising of the Filipino
troops and workers at the Cavite arsenal
due to the removal of privileges:

• Exemption from the forced labor (polo y


servicio)
• Exemption from the tribute

-a collective name of the three Martyred
priest.

mutiny.

-a parish priesst of the Manila

-a member of confraternity its
goal was to seek reforms, listed

-born on August 14, 1835
-a parish priest in Marikina
-known to be unfriendly to and
would not countenance any
arrogance or authoritative
behavior from Spaniards coming
from Spain.

Propaganda Movement
-A political reformist movement in the
late 1800s Philippines that aimed to
advocate for better treatment and
equality for Filipinos under Spanish
colonial rule.
Rise of Propaganda
Movement
-Began in 1872, when Fathers Mariano
Gomez, Jose Burgos and Jacinto Zamora
were executed at the Luneta.

to expose the defects of Spanish rule in
the Philippines and the urgency of
reforms to remedy them.

-His father is a gobernadorcillo,
while his mother is a principalia.
-He published a newspaper in
tagalog named “Diariong Tagalog”.
-Became an editor of La Solidaridad
Marcelo H. -Died on July 4, 1896 in Barcelona,

-GracianoLópez y Jaena
-Born in December 18, 1856
-Took an apprenticeship in a hospital (in
Iloilo)
-Went to Spain where he wrote “Fray
Butod” or Fray Potbelly.
-An Orator
-He spoked in Exposicion Universal de
Barcelona, where he talked about the
flora and fauna of the Philippines.
-He established the La Solidaridad and
was it’s vice president and first editor.
Graciano -Died on January 20, 1896 in Barcelona,

Was the Propaganda Movement a
Success or Failure?
