My Reflection

Hi! Good day, I just want to share my reflection about our topic and lesson in Practical Research
2. We’ll, not all I can remember but still I learned many things in this subject. Mrs. Geraldine Libarra
taught us about Quantitative research which is our Practical Research 2 in Grade 12. She teaches us about
how and what is quantitative research, its characteristics, strength and weaknesses and also the kinds of
Quantitative research like Descriptive design that used to describe about particular phenomenon by
observing it as it occurs and nature. Second, is the Correlational design that used to identify the
relationship between the two variables, we used this design as well in our research study. And then, the Ex
post facto design which I’m kind’a not familiar with but it used to investigate a possible relationship
between previous event and present conditions. Next, is the Quasi-Experimental design, used to establish
the cause and effects relationship of variables. Lastly, the Experimental Design, it’s like quasi
experimental but it established the cause and effects relationship of two or more variables.

I also refresh about our topic in Dependent and independent variable way back grade 11 Statistics
and Probability where dependent variable is the one who affect independent variable. It also some extra
variable that also wanted to affect the independent variable, it's Extraneous variables. Our subject teacher
also explains about the differences and classification of variable such as quantitative discrete and
continuous. On the other hand, qualitative research had classified as nominal, ordinal and dichotomous.
Where nominal simply defines groups or subject, while ordinal is ranking and dichotomous is only
consists of only two distinct categories or values.

Designing research topic and research title is crucial where you need to find a broad topic that is
interesting able to answer the problem and have many relevant studies. I also learned about the guidelines
in making research title, it should not include any other slang words, mindful in grammar, capitalize all
nouns, pronounce and verbs and so on. It should be stated in declarative form and only consists of 5-15
words. Well, it’s really stressing me out a bit but I enjoy learning about this. Now, I know how to make
research questions, you must need to know the definition of some unfamiliar or deep word in study. All
questions should be feasible, clear, significant and ethical to avoid misunderstanding. The research
question classified as two, the general and specific question. The general question is derived in research
problem while the specific are anchored on general.

In scoping and delimitating of study it considered the topic of the study, objectives or the
problems addressed, it’s time frame, locale study, information of responders and it’s method and research
instrument. In this lesson, I’ve learned about the differences of scope and delimitation where scope
specifies the cover of our study while the delimitation is the one not included or mention in our study.
Creating research framework is very hard to do, especially in doing our research framework but still
figuring out on how to finish it in finding relevant studies. There are different kind of research framework
which is the Theoretical that already exist before the study conducted and the conceptual that’s only
beginning and identifying study.

I also learned and refresh about the topic hypothesis. It is a specific and testable prediction on
what to expect to happen with the variables in our study. Also, there are type of research hypothesis such
as simple hypothesis where single variable occurs, complex hypothesis that is one or two variables is
visible. Empirical hypothesis that uses trial or error to prove. Logical hypothesis that is very logic about
the explanation causing of limited evidence that can verified. A null hypothesis that knowing the
relationship of two or more variables if there’s an existing relationship between the two or none, also the
alternative hypothesis which is the opposite of null hypothesis.

Overall, I’ve learned many things about this subject where learning research is crucial for living
things like us humans to examine and understand our own surrounding. Cause everything on this Earth is
came from research like technology, what we eat, our wearing and many more. That’s why research is
important to all of us to have some insights in everything.
