Introduction

Welcome to the unofficial guide to Quake 4 - first person shooter developed by Raven
Software. The guide consists of a detailed walkthrough with screenshots, which will help you
break through the Stroggos’ installations. There are some clues about dealing with bosses
too. Additionally, you'll find here two separate chapters, which are containing information
about in-game weapons and enemies. What's important, this guide refers only to single
player mode.

Hints

• At the game's beginning, you'll notice that in Stroggos' bases are plenty of similar
devices to the ones, showed on the screenshot above. This are medical positions,
which operates identically how the ones from Doom 3 or the Half-Life series. The player
can use them after turning into Strogg (after Strogg Medical Facilities level). Every
station has the specific number of health points and you can't use it ad infinitum. The
'depleted' message will inform you about station's useless.
• You'll find medics and engineers, among other allied soldiers in Quake 4. The medics
will recover your health points and the engineers will take care of armor. If you need
help, click on the specialist (if the surroundings are cleared from enemies of course). If
these gentlemen aren't important for the game's task, the opponent can kill them.
During the play on higher difficulty levels, protect the medics and engineers as long as
you can.
• Look into the chest, carefully explore every room. Health and ammunition are often
hided in hard to reach places or in the shadow (use Flashlight).
• The game is linear. There aren’t any optional patches to finish given level. Despite that, look for
green light on the door. Behind them you'll most often find useful items that will help you in
game (health, armor, ammunition).

Weapons
Below you’ll find list of all weapons that occur in single player mode, with short descriptions:

Primary weapon in commando’s equipment. It doesn’t require ammunition and/or reloading.


Blaster shoots single energetic bullets. After holding the left mouse button for a while, your
shoot will become stronger (more damages). It has also an installed flashlight.

Dark Matter Gun reminds BFG 9000, the weapon of mass destruction from Quake II. After
loading (usually few second), it fires violet slug that absorbs smaller enemies. When the slug
hits any obstacle in the area, it detonates and takes away 50 health points from all nearby
opponents. Dark Matter Gun is very effective during the fight with overwhelming numbers of
enemies, but it’s really hard to find ammunition for this gun.

Grenade Launcher fires shells, which detonate immediately after hitting the enemy, or
bounce off the walls if there’s no opponent (in this case, shell will explode after few seconds).
Very good weapon to destroy enemies’ groups that are located in large distance from Kane or
on lower platform. Grenade Launcher can also be used to cover retreats and to eliminate
opponents waiting for the player round the corner.

Energetic weapon, which is an effective substitute for the Machine Gun. It’s extremely fast-
shooting gun and takes away some nice damage with single hit. HyperBlaster can be
modified in Data Storage Terminal level (bullets will bounce off he walls – it’s very helpful in
small, narrow areas).

3. Magazine: 60 (max 340+60)

Popular weapon, that remind of a gun from the first Quake. It fires energy beam, which hit all
the enemies in straight line. After installing modification, the beam can hurt other nearby
soldiers.

First better weapon, that’ll run into inside the Strogg’s complex. It’s good choice during the
distant fight with enemies. You can also activate Machine Gun’s sight (higher damage), but
it’ll make continuous fire impossible. Very effective gun, especially in first part of the game. It
has also an installed flashlight, which is helpful in level’s exploration. During the stay on
spaceship destroyer (Hannibal), you’ll get new Machine Gun, with better magazine.

1. Damage: 15 (every bullet) – 20 (every bullet after activating sight)

3. Magazine: 40 (max 260+40) – after modification 80 (max 320+80)

5. Modification: Yes (Operation: Advantage)

The strongest weapon from all machine guns. It fires nails (not so fast as bullets in Machine
Gun or HyperBlaster). Nailgun becomes good choice after installing modification (activating
sight) – nails will auto-target the enemies then.

Thanks to installed sight and bonus damage, it’s perfect sniper’s weapon. Unfortunately, it
reloads slowly (no use in fighting with group of enemies). Small magazine is another
disadvantage (necessary reload after three shots). In the game’s ending, one of the technician
will upgrade Railgun’s firepower – you’ll be granted possibility to eliminate all opponents
standing in straight line of a single shot.

5. Modification: Yes (Data Storage Security)

Classic rocket launcher with the highest damage from all conventional weapons (excluding
Dark Matter Gun). The missiles aren’t as fast as in Quake III: Arena, but it’s very effective
gun. Rocket Launcher has the best in-game weapon modification. After pushing the right
mouse button, you’ll see green mark, which assure player of hitting locked target. Upgrade
mean also faster shooting (three rockets in a row, without reloading).

Deadly in short range combat, completely useless in fighting from the distance – these are
features related to every shotgun, including the one from Quake 4. Exceptionally fast in use,
but it’s not perfect (medium damage). Good for weaker enemies, but after some time it’s
better to switch over to a better weapon. During the play you’ll get upgraded Shotgun (more
shells in the magazine).

Walkthrough
Air Defense Bunker

Regroup with Rhino Squad


You’ll start on planet’s surface, near the crushed landing module (#1). The soldier walking
near your position will acquaint you with first in-game order – you must find all your
teammates. Go in big building’s direction. You’ll meet medic Anderson (#2). Wait until he
heals you and go inside the complex.

Few seconds later you’ll find yourself in the room and encounter first enemy (#3). Help allied
troops in exterminating some opponents and go straight ahead, by taking the only available
path. During the walk, look in crates (#4). You can find there health and ammunition.

In the next room, you can pick up a machinegun (#5). Use it to clear the path of enemies and
go straight ahead. Check the doors (green lights on them mean that you can go inside).
Sometimes doors will lead to small rooms, where you should find health and ammunition.

Retrieve Medic
After reaching the team (#6), you’ll see a wounded soldier. Allied unit’s captain will ask you to
get Anderson (medic from the beginning of the game). Head back the same way you came,
but be aware of running into more enemies. One of the Stroggos will hit marine with a blade.
Kill the Strogg and take the opened passage. You will meet Anderson there (#7). Help him
with fighting and (together) return to a wounded soldier.

Escort Anderson
Try to remember that Anderson can heal you, if necessary. To do that, click on him, when the
surroundings is clear of enemies. After going into next room, you’ll encounter new enemy –
kill him immediately. Get close to the place from picture (#8). Below you should see a small
bridge. Armor and some ammunition await you there. Flip the switch (#9) located near the
ladder (it’ll open the red gate) and climb back up.

Move straight ahead and eliminate next opponents. After reaching the team, Anderson will
heal a wounded soldier. Wait until one of the allied troops will open the door and walk
outside the complex. You’ll meet Cortez from Rhino Squad. Gather some ammunition and
walk trough the red gate. Push the button to finish the first level.

Air Defense Trenches


Walk straight ahead and use the elevator (#11). Move forward and eliminate every opponent
in your range. After finding yourself on the surface, turn right and climb down on pipes.
There are some armors (#12) waiting for you. Again, move straight ahead. After short walk,
you’ll get to the trenches. Kill all enemies and approach the soldiers from your team (#13).

Destroy Strogg Aircraft Hangars


Your team’s task is to destroy big cannon that you can ‘admire’ from the trenches. To do
that, first eliminate opponent’s fighters (they are systematically sent from nearby hangars).
Move with sergeant Morris and break through trenches, of course killing opponents on the
way. The road ends after walking inside the complex (#14).

Hangar Perimeter
After short walk, you’ll encounter new enemy: Gunner. Get rid of him and kill all Stroggos in
the neighbourhood. Walk straight ahead. Clear the area of enemies and go through the next
door, where you’ll meet Rhino squad’s soldiers (#15).

You’ll get the Shotgun. Get ready for some action. Walk into the courtyard (#16) with allied
soldiers (there is a big machinery). Cover behind the crate and concentrate on eliminating
opponents. During the fight beware of loosing medic – you’ll need him few minutes later
(especially on higher difficulty level). When the area is clear of enemies, go with your team to
another location.

Inside, be ready for another firefight. After eliminating the Stroggos, go inside the elevator
(big hatch), wait for the rest of your team and travel down. You’ll get to big hall, which is
growing with enemies. They’ll also jump down from higher levels, so be prepared for a tough
fight. Remember to cover medic and engineer (#17 – he can supply you with armor). After the
battle, team leader will try to destroy reinforced glass. He won’t make it and it’s your job to
find another way to destroy it.

Circumvent Glass
Recover heath and armor and walk through the doors, located opposite the reinforced glass.
Kill all enemies, find the ladder (#18) and climb up. Push the button on electronic panel
(#19). Eliminate new opponents and move to the other side of the new walkway.

On lower level, you should see the rest of your squad. Push the button (#20) and wait for a
while, until the big cannon comes down. On the right side, you’ll see a tunnel, leading to
elevator. You’ll join the team. Activate the panel (#21) – it’ll destroy reinforced glass. Move
ahead.
Another big hall awaits you. Recover health and armor (if possible), and push the green
button (#22), located near the bridge. Keep yourself on the right side and eliminate as much
enemies as you can (they’ll try to walk over the bridge).

After the fight, walk on the bridge. There’s a ladder (#23), right next to doors that will lead
you to some useful items. Go back to the gate, walk inside and kill all opponents. Another
door will lead you to an elevator (#24). Walk inside to finish this level.

Interior Hangar
During elevator trip, you should see another hangar’s level and enemy’s fighters. After
reaching the top, your team leader will get new orders – clear the area of all enemies.

Clear Area of Enemies


After short walk, the lights will turn off. Choose machine gun, turn on the flashlight and wait
until allied soldiers take their positions in a big hall. Hide behind the column and start
exterminating the Stroggos, that will came in big numbers from the other side (destroy
machine guns placed under the ceiling too - #25). To make things easier, shoot in the
exploding barrels. If you get rid of all your opponents, than team leader will command you to
get the explosive charge’s expert.

Meet Rhodes/Protect Rhodes


Return to the elevator, which brought you on this level. Get some ammunition and with new
buddy (#26) move to the room, where the fight has just finished. Use next door to walk inside
the hangar (#27).
There’re two rooms, placed on either side. Visit them (order doesn’t matter), eliminate all
enemies inside, and wait until Rhodes will set up the exploding charges (#28). Return to the
main hall and get ready for another fight. You’ll be out numbered for a while, so try to change
it. Mind your new friend – if he’ll die, than it’s game over. After setting up the charges,
Rhodes will tell you to run to run behind him, so do that. After jogging, you’ll find yourself in
command center and you’ll see the explosion (#29).

Regroup with Voss


There’s an elevator on the other side of command center (#30). Click on the panel to leave the
hangar.

MCC Landing Site


After going on lower level, you’ll find yourself in the complex, which is controlled by your
allies. Gather some ammunition and find engineer Strauss from the Rhino Squad (#31) – he’ll
renew your armor. There’re door right behind him, so walk through them. Move straight
ahead. If necessary, visit also the medic.

You’ll run into Morris. Return with him to the trenches, where the commander Voss is
waiting (#32). In reward for your successful efforts, he’ll give you Grenade Launcher.

Capture the Air Defense Cannon


Practice launching grenades in the trenches, which are full of enemies. You should get near
the cannon, but the door leading to the bunker will be closed (#33). Voss will order you to get
inside somehow. Jumping over the chests (#34), reach the top. You should see small opening
(#35). Go inside and push the button. The door will open and the rest of the team will join
you.

Run with others and kill encountered enemies. In the big hall (#36), jump over the barrier
and send some grenades to opponents standing on the balcony (remember that Voss has
HyperBlaster, so don’t try so much). Few seconds later, the door on the ground level will
open and you’ll fight with another pack of enemies (of course use grenades).
Move straight ahead and kill more opponents. Now, you’ll enter big cannon’s control room
and use it against the Stroggos.

Fire Away
Sit in armchair (#37) and wait, until the sight activates. Shoot in giant hatch (#38) and leave
the place.

Locate the MCC Landing Zone


Return to the door, but don’t go further. Instead, use elevator, but watch out for the enemy
(#39). On the balcony turn left, kill some Stroggos and run the only available path. Use panel
to open the door and go to the trenches. Get out from there (#40) and observe the cannon’s
destruction.
Soldier will run into the destroyed building. Move with him and eliminate some enemies on
the way. After short walk, you’ll find yourself outside (again).

There is a Stroggos’ building located on the right side (#41), so be careful. Stay close to the
wall and walk forwards. Few minutes later, the giant (allied) spaceship will arrive and
eliminate any danger.

Board the Hannibal


Wait until the spaceship will land on Strogg’s planet surface (#42). Run near it. When the
platform lowers, walk inside to finish the level.

Operation: Advantage
Report to Briefing
Move up, on the stairs and trough the door. Wait patiently, until the decontamination’s
process will end (#43). One of the crew’s members will inform you about carrying out the
task, and you’ll find yourself in a proper part of the ship.
You must find Rhino squad’s centre (briefing room), and that’s not easy. Here’s the best
recipe to achieve your current goal (direction mean proper door to go trough): right, right,
straight, right, straight (doors with D.4 Briefing/Amory sign), left (#44) and straight ahead.
Listen to the briefing – you’ll know your next task.

Gear Up
Leave the briefing room and move straight ahead. Turn left and go through the door with D.4
Armory sign. There’s a Shotgun next to talking soldiers (#45). Take it and move on. Just
before another door you’ll run into two commandos ((#46). The first one will give you

Locate the Ride to Death Convoy


Walk through the gray door and turn left. Run forward. Wait in the big hall’s centre and wait
patiently until elevator lowers you on the planet’s surface.

Canyon
Run straight ahead. There’re some trucks just behind the spaceship (#47). Jump on first one
and the convoy will start moving. Kane’s position will be frozen – you’ll be able only to turn
around and shoot. A few dozen seconds later, you’ll have the first opportunity to defend the
convoy from enemy’s infantry. Help your allies in eliminating danger (tip: shoot in explosive
barrels). Than you’ll ride forward.

Locate Bidwell
After the ride, jump down from the truck. Go into the tunnel on left side (#48) and walk
straight ahead. You’ll meet Bidwell (#49). He’ll order you to jump on another vehicle and take
stationary machine gun shooter’s position. Save the game, especially when you’re playing on
higher difficulty levels.

Protect the Convoy


Theoretically, your task is simple. Guard the convoy from enemy’s attack. Machine gun has
unlimited ammunition (no reloading), so shoot as often as you can and don’t worry. Your ride
will be split in three phases.
In the first one, the convoy will be attack by enemy’s infantry. Hovercraft will trample
opponents standing in your vehicle’s route, but it’s much better to eliminate them sooner.
During the ride, a rocket will hit the ground and transform into turret (#50). Destroy it in the
first place (new challenges are coming).

Convoy will stop – there’re some landmines on the track. Save the game. Sapper will be send
to disable exploding traps. You’ll have to protect him (#51) from enemy’s attacks (right flank).
Try to concentrate fire on opponent’s groups, but watch out for sapper (some Stroggos will
approach from left). He can’t die before he disables all landmines, so be careful. When the
convoy will start, save the game (again). Last, third page of this ride is the toughest one.

Clear Area of Turrets


Now, Kane will find himself alone on the battlefield. Your vehicle rides in established
direction and your task is shooting and some more shooting. Be aware, that in the left, lower
corner of the screen you’ll see energy bar. Every hit decreases hovercraft‘s resistance, so
don’t let it decrease to zero (game over). If you’re not shooting, energy will recharge over time.
During the fight you’ll have exactly one opportunity to increase the energy (after hiding
behind the chests). Make it happen.
You must destroy three types of turrets on your way. First one is stationary machine gun
(#52). There’re six of them on the level (concentrate fire on them for few seconds). Secondly,
you’ll run into well-known rockets that transform into turrets. Lastly, you’ll encounter
rockets launcher, placed in the building located in the level’s centre. Of course you can shoot
down missiles fired in yours direction, but the better option is to destroy launchers
themselves.

Locate Voss
After the ride, vehicle will stop near the complex. Go inside through the big hatch. In there,
you’ll find another passage and the panel. Click on the button, and you’ll finish the level.

Come up to the soldiers that are standing in the elevator (#53). You’ll get the Nailgin. Ride
down and move straight ahead. When you’ll meet Sledge from Rhino Squaw (#54), turn right
(the other door are close). You’re looking for Voss – he’s in small room on the left side.

Retrieve Engineer
Commander will order you to find engineer – only him can open the door leading to another
part of the complex. Walk out and turn left. Two soldiers will join you, and you’ll definitely
need help in the close future. In the next room, you’ll fight your first battle. Stroggos will
jump from balconies (#55), but you should finally deal with them and go forward.
Call for elevator, push the button and ride down. Wait until the door will open, and walk
inside the room. Big hatch will be closed, but you can open it with the panel, located nearby
(#56). After opening the hatch, eliminate your opponents and repeat this process with second
hatch (#57).
You’ll see riding truck. The engineer will jump down from the vehicle. Before you’ll be able to
talk to him, get rid of the Stroggos that will suddenly appear in the tunnel.

Escort Newberry
Safe and sound, go back with Newberry to the place, where you have meet Sledge. Walk
through (closed before) the door and lead engineer through the only available way. Finally,
you’ll reach the door that Newberry is needed at and he’ll fulfill his task (#59).

Shut Down the Defense Grid


You’ll be left alone. In the next room use elevator to ride up. Walk straight ahead and jump
down, after seeing a broken barrier (#60). Click on the panel (#61) and wait until machinery
will uncover second screen. Of course use it. You’ll run into single enemy. Eliminate him and
go trough the door that he unlocked seconds before.

Regroup with Rhino Squad


There’re new orders. To get them, you must find yourself in Nexus building (out of range at
the moment). Walk straight ahead and kill all encountered enemies (this time, the biggest
challenge will be fighting with extremely tough Gladiator). Finally, you’ll get to the main
elevator (#62). Use it to ride up. Move through the hatch to finish this level.

Aqueducts
The door will open and you’ll run into Holtz (#63). He’ll recover you armor and install a sight
in your Nailgun. You can recover health too (medic is just few step ahead). Ready for action,
go through the hatch. You’ll see the Hovertank (#64) – your new ride.
The tank is armed with powerful cannon and machine gun. Steering and targeting is simple,
vehicle reacts immediately. During the fight with enemies, remember about energy and armor
limit. Tip: you can recharge these parameters - just stop for a while.

Drive in Nexus building’s direction – it’s hard to miss. Generally, you’ll ride in harsh Stroggos
planet’s scenery. Sometimes you’ll also have to ride through wide tunnels (#65).
During the ride, you’ll encounter three types of enemies: flying Hornets (they attack with
rockers), falling off the sky machine gun’s turrets and groups of infantry. The biggest
problem will cause Hornets. They are very responsive and quickly escape from machine gun’s
bullets. The best way to defeat them depends on precise aiming and firing from the heavy
cannon. In this place (#66) you’ll encounter one more new enemy: fast moving Convoys. Fire
the cannon to eliminate them.

Aqueducts Annex
Second part of fighting behind tank’s wheel will surprise you with new, dangerous enemies:
big, red robots that resemble spiders (#67). They are called Harvesters. Few shots from
cannon should be enough to defeat the opponent (aim in the head). Harvesters attack mainly
with machine gun. From time to time, they’ll fire rockets in your direction too. Use machine
gun to destroy them. Beware of big hole, located nearby. If you drive into it, Kane will
immediately die.

When the Nexus building appear in front of you after the longer driving (#68), you will have to
fight with two Harvesters (#69) at the same time. Robots will destroy one of the towers (field
of the maneuver will limit considerably). The best way to destroy opponents is to stop near
the ruins and shoot at every of machines to the bitter end. Traditionally, use machine gun to
destroy rockets and hit Harvesters from the cannon.
After the fight, drive in the building through the huge hatch. Once inside (#70), you'll have to
get out of the tank and approach the comrades waiting for you. Go on the platform (lift) to
finish this stage.

Nexus Hub Tunnels

Destroy the Tetranode


Travel down, recover ammunition and approach Voss (#71). Commander will explain you the
general purpose of the new mission. Wait until the engineer will open the door and follow the
group. Try to fight with enemies, but watch out for ammunition - there aren't many places in
this level, where you can recover it. Ammunition will be undoubtedly more useful to you in
the future.
After short walk, you will reach the operations room (#72), but there won't be many things to
do. It is necessary to raise the temperature (at present it's able to kill all soldiers).

Protect Strauss
You (as the assistance) and engineer will be assign to the task. Be aware that the Gladiator is
waiting for you in the first chamber (#73). Watch out for Strauss and try to defeat the enemy
by yourself.
After the short walk, you will eventually find the terminal. Strauss should take care of it
(#74). For the time of the operation, you'll have to take care of enemies (Sentries) and
Machine Gun is the best choice for you. After the fight, you will learn that the engineer must
be left in current position and you’re necessary for remaining members of the team.

Return to Rhino Squad


Return as quick as possible, systematically eliminating enemies during the walk (there will
be substantial number of the opponents in the hall, where the Gladiator has shown up
earlier). Reach the operations room and help others in getting rid of the next enemies. Go
with allied soldiers. Few dozen seconds after, you'll get to the vast tunnel. Though struggle
awaits you there - it would be good for you to have big ammunition reserves. After the hard
clash, run with Voss to the door and (this time alone) move further.

Deactivate the Forcefield


Walk straight ahead, killing all enemies on the way. Jump on pipes in the big hall (#75) and
get to the control panel (#76), where you must switch off the force field. If you go there, you‘ll
reach the small ammunition storeroom (#77), so do it.

Return to the Convoy


Return to the team. You‘ll see that all squad's members are gathered near the trucks and
single engineer is trying to fire EMP up. Unfortunately, something will go wrong again.
Suddenly, the Harvester will appear form the opposite side of the tunnel (#78) and destroy
the weapon. Try to avoid cars and don't shoot at the robot. If you do that, you'll only lose
valuable ammunition.
Wait until Voss will stop mourning dead colleagues. After a while he will open the passage
(#79) to channels - go there. Once inside, move forward and don't look back. You'll run into
the first ladder in channels (#80). Climb up and quickly run on the other side of the passage
(Harvester standing above you is able to crush you, so be careful). During the crossing, you
will get the new weapon - HyperBlaster. Proceed patiently forward. Finally you'll find the
ladder that leads to the bigger hall. From there jump on pipes (#81) and go up.

Walk ahead all the time and exterminate enemies (for Sentries use Machine Gun). Knock all
enemies out in the last room and take stairs to the top. Here you’ll find the elevator (#82).
Use it to get to the main part of the complex.

Destroy the Tetranode with Strauss


Enter the elevator (#83) and travel down. Turn right to meet Strauss (#84). The engineer will
explain to you that in order to destroy the core, it's necessary to do a few other things first.

Activate the Power Plant


Strauss has to run the power station and you're his bodyguard (nothing new). Go through
the nearest door. Climb up the ladder located on the left side. It's leading to the chamber
with some armor, but due to the fact that engineer is with you, it not necessary to collect it.
Run straight ahead and kill all met enemies. Eventually you'll reach the room, where the
panel activating the power station is located (#85). Wait until Strauss will use it, eliminate
Gladiator and return to the elevator.

Find the Emergency ShutOff Controls


This time you'll run in the other direction. Actively participate in the fight with monsters.
Thanks to that, you will protect Strauss. You will reach the elevator which will take you up.
There, the engineer will use another control pad (#86) and complete his mission.

Shut Down the Coolant Pumps


Now your job to execute the last point of the destruction of the Nexus complex's plan. On the
right from Strauss you'll find useful ammunition. Recover everything you can and go to the
door. After short walk, safe and sound, you’ll reach the big room with the panel in the middle
#87). Make a save, choose strong weapon (e.g. Grenade Launcher) and prepare yourself for
the fight.
After pushing the button you will be surrounded by two spiders (Stream Protectors),
relatively though beast, that are using machine guns and flame throwers as weapons. Do not
save ammunition - it won't be necessary later. When both spiders will fall down, prepare
yourself for the fight against the final boss.

You don't stand a chance with the new Makron's incarnation (#88), but you can try your
best. As soon as the big creature will stand up with you face to face, start to fire and avoid
his bullets at the same time. Stroggos leader will get nervous. He'll use the other weapon to
capture you.
Do not load a save game. Kane’s not dead. But his life will never be the same.

Strogg Medicial Facilities


You'll see long animation. Kane will be dismembered at the beginning and then put together
again, but this time for the Stroggos similarity (#89). Fortunately, remaining Rhino Squad
members will rescue their comrade, before you'll join foreign armies for good. The operation
causes some changes in the game play. Kane now moves faster, has 125 health and armor
points and can use automats hanging on walls (Heath Station), in purpose of regeneration.

Follow Anderson
Run behind your team. Just behind the door you'll find the Shotgun (for beginning it's
enough). After short walk, you'll reach communication centre, where Voss will divide team
into two groups (#90). Follow Anderson. After a while, you will be the witness of destruction
of the aircraft that was supposed to rescue you.

Regroup with Rhino Squad


Get with Anderson deep into the medical complex. Your comrade will be captured after a
while. Kill all Scientist and push the button (#91) in the same cabin, which the medic has
been shut earlier in. Walk ahead and jump onto conveyor belt (#92). Kill enemies in the next
room and use the panel to call elevator. Travel up.
You'll leave medical complex. You should find the Rocket Launcher, which will settle
permanently from now on in your arsenal. Walk ahead, open the hatch and take the stairs to
the top. Hard struggles awaits you there - apart from the enemy's ordinary soldiers, also the
Gladiator will show up. Behind the next door, look on the right (#93). If you jump over the
rail onto the pipes, you'll locate the some armor without any problem.

Taking the only available patch, you'll reach the elevator. Use it. You’ll see small gap nearby
(#94), and the ladder behind it. If you climb up, you should find some armor and Grenade
Launcher. After short walk, you run into conveyor belt (#95), where the containers with
captured people inside are moving. It'll lead you to the bigger hall. Stand on the moving
platform (#96) and remember that container mustn’t dump you into the abyss. After a while,
you will move over about 90% - it'll let you reach the next belt conveyor. In nearby room
you'll meet Voss. Unfortunately, the commander will fall down into the abyss along with the
Strogg that attacked him.

Regroup
Walk ahead and take the next elevator. You'll walk into the room where long gunfire will take
place with predominating enemy's forces. There's a Rocket Launcher located just next to
door. Return to the earlier hall and go through the next gate. You'll find yourself in the
laboratory where bloodthirsty Stroggos are making medical experiments. Kill Scientists and
go through the door. At present, you're located above the round hall with the machinery
distributing containers (#97).

You will have two alternative ways. First go left, where you'll find health and armor, and than
move right to the elevator. It's almost the end of visiting in the enemy's medical complex. In
order to break through the exit, you'll have to crawl and to take the tunnel (#98). Check all
branches of channels because ammunition and HyperBlaster are there. Before you'll get to
the hatch which ends your stay on this level, you'll have to kill the new enemy, mutated dog
(Teleport Dropper). He has the very unpleasant ability of dropping balls that summon the
opponent's soldiers. Take care of Teleport Dropper as soon as possible and turn left. Push
the button to open the exit.

Construction Zone
Start with collecting precious items (you'll find them in the chests on the left and near dead
soldier's bodies). When you are ready for the action, you can sit behind the steers of the
robot, standing nearby (#99).

Locate the Dispersal Facility


The mech is more difficult in navigation than the Hovertank. He moves slowly and don't
reacts immediately. The mech has also weaker armor - you'll notice it quickly during the fight
with the same enemies as few levels earlier. The robot is armed with machine gun (infinite
ammunition, no reloading) and rockets launcher. This weapon is significantly weaker from
the cannon in the tank and you'll have to load rockets after six launched missiles. During the
fight you'll mainly use machine gun (it is significantly more effective). Remember to renew
armor and shield after every fight.

After a few seconds of the march, first enemies will show up already. Infantry will attack you
from the right side, there will be group of Hornets in the air too. Get rid of the threat and go
under the bridge towards the tunnel. You don't have to worry about the way - only one route
is leading to the factory (your destination target).
In the tunnel maneuver between obstacles and get rid of enemies. After short walk, you'll find
yourself on the surface again - turrets falling off the sky will join your opponents. All the time
go straight ahead and systematically eliminate enemies. When you'll pass the second tunnel,
shoot at bombing aircraft (#100 - machine gun should be enough). Move until you'll notice
small fault of the area in (#101). Save the game and jump down.

Harvester will show up nearby (#102), temporarily being blocked out by base construction's
elements. Use machine gun to destroy Harvester's rockets and immediately concentrate fire
on the top part of the robot. Hit him also with rockets, but return to ordinary bullets, while
reloading missiles. When Harvester will stand with you face to face, he should be near death
already. Continue the work of destruction until he won't fall finally.
Safe and sound, approach the main complex’s building (#103). Jump out from the mech and
now move on foot. After short walk, you'll see the hatch (#104) leading to the next stage.

Dispersal Facility

Regroup
From the short animation, you will find out that Tacticals are lurking waiting for Kane
nearby (one of them killed Voss earlier). Take cover and start fighting. As soon as first enemy
will fall, you'll have the chance to get the Railgun.
Take care of remaining opponents and go into the complex. Open the hatch with the button
(#105) and walk ahead. Get rid of the next defenders and use the elevator (#106). After going
through the door, you'll have to go to the other side of the bridge, in the opportune moment
getting down (route's ending is breaking under weight of one of the pylons). You'll be all the
time under Harvester's fire (#107), but thanks to acceleration which is given to you by being
the Strogg, you should avoid fire without any problem.

Walk ahead all the time until you'll come across three elevator's panes (#108). At present,
only the one in the center is operating. Push the button and wait for the lift patiently. When
you go down, move in advance the only available way, eliminating everything that moves.

In the chamber with the staircase (#109), gunfire with Tactical soldiers and Gunners awaits
you. It's good to dump barrels down and then fire a few grenades towards the enemy. If you
lack of shells, you'll be forced to use conventional weapons, e.g. Railgun (it has perfect optical
sight).

After long walk, you'll fins yourself in the hall with the huge bulk (#110). Right behind it,
there're two staircases. Take both of them and push the buttons at their ends (#111). When
"heart" will deactivate, repair robots will appear round it. Approach the bulk and jump down
into open passage. After going into the pipe (#112), you'll finish this level.

Recomposition Center
Move ahead. After short walk you'll reach the hall (#113), where Kane will hear ask for help
from the prisoner captured by Stroggos. In the depth of the room, you can find interface
(#114) that controls all cages. Click on every of numbers and then push the central button.

Locate Exit
Saved engineer will modify your Nailgun (he'll install the sight, that won't let nails to miss
after successful targeting). Ask him for the regeneration of the armor and (together) start
moving. After short walk, you'll reach the big hall with green barrels. Analyzing the interface
(#115), engineer will instruct you to find the way to launch the machinery. He should remain
at current position.

Activate Barrel Process


Move forward. After a while, you'll see the electricity tortured soldier (#116). Approaches the
indicator located on directly of wretch and press the button. You'll receive Lightning Gun.
Recover nearby ammunition and run straight ahead. Corridors aren't forking, so it's hard to
get lost. Progress successively, eliminating all met Stroggos. When you eventually manage to
reach the next panel, use it (#117) to obtain access to the next section (Sterilization).

Activate Process

objects.
After passing through two pairs of the door, you'll see platforms. Kill opponents and get at
the only open gate. Once inside, avoid the machinery and approach indicators ((#119). Push
the button to run the system. The engineer's task was executed.

Regroup
Short animation will inform you, that new enemy has shown up on the loading platform
(#120 - Light Tank). Try to keep at a distance (enemy is very dangerous in hand-to-hand
combat). Run along loading platforms and utilize chests as protection against Light Tank's
bullets. Destroy the opponent with stronger weapon (e.g. Railgun). Move ahead. The next
platforms are being controlled by Tacticals. Don't become a part of the open war - eliminate
them quietly and run straight ahead, until you'll reach the room, where the engineer
remained in. Unfortunately, he'll be hijacked by Stroggos.

Use Barrel Controls


Approach the interface (#121), which the engineer was occupying earlier. Push the button in
right, lower corner, than press up arrow and click in right, top panel's corner. Some barrels
should appear. Transport them to yourself by pressing down arrow. Jump onto the computer
(#122), from there on containers and than on the balcony. After short walk, you'll see the gap
and belt conveyor inside. Jump down.

Putrification Center
Long ride on belt conveyor (#123) through almost the whole factor awaits you. The task isn't
especially difficult if you have eyes around the head. Be aware of moving over barrels (#124)
and mechanical devices which you were able to admire during the stay in Strogg Medicial
Facilities already. Avoid the contact with fire and with every contraption. The ride on the belt
conveyor was divided into a few stages. In order to pass first you must find the door with
green lamps. Remember to jump from time to time onto the other conveyor belt - scan
surroundings and make the right decisions. You'll be able to leave conveyor belt for a while to
jump onto or go through nearby platforms (#125). Do not waste this chance - there're a few
very useful later items.

Automatic save game and Stroggos that suddenly will appear near the door will inform you of
the end of the ride. Kill them, recover some items and move ahead. The enemy will send a few
Tacticals to eliminate you, other monsters should show up too. Move carefully and try to
eliminate enemies, without losing health and armor. You must be perfectly prepared to the
confrontation with what you'll see next.

Destroy the Stroyent Processing Creature


If you, or enemy, have hit by accident tissue hanging under the ceiling of the tissue earlier,
you have probably heard the frightful moan of the unidentified creature. Now, you'll be able
to see the new enemy (#126). The opponent’s destruction is your current mission.

After entering the chamber with the fatty, turn right and go to the door. Save the game. The
next gate is leading to the monster's neighborhood. Shooting is no use, so break through the
other side of the corridor. The enemy is equipped with the scourge and tries to hit you every
few seconds. During 'safe' moments proceed for the next columns - you will be safe
temporarily there (don't stand too long, because Strogg will destroy the column eventually).
When you get to the other side, press the button on the panel (#127). The enemy will smash
the pane in the madness (#128) and - in this way – he should create new passage for you. Go
there and quickly move forward.

After short walk and taking the elevator, you'll come back to the hall with the monster, but
this time you'll find yourself at the top. Avoid hitting (again hide behind the next columns),
move to control room and push the second button (#129). The monster will be destroyed.

Notice that acid pouring from the monster's stomach have smelted the gap in the floor
(#130). Go down and jump through the opening on the nearest platform. Walk ahead and
eliminate annoying Tactical located under you. Now, jump to the door and go through them.
Kill opponents lurking by break-troughs in walls (#131) and walk around the room. Next door
will lead you to the big hall. Eliminate enemies and move forward. After short walk, you'll see
the pipe (#132). Jump inside to finish the level.

Waste Processing Facility


Before we start, one useful tip. Try not to waste ammunition for Rocket Launcher,
HyperBlaster, Railgun (option), Lightning Gun and Nailgun. These guns will be useful for the
fight against the boss at the end of this stage.
After the channel's exit you'll meet allied soldiers. Unfortunately, he's located on the other
side of the barricade (#133). Enter the tunnel before device with poisoned gas will appear (it
can deprive you of health, so be careful). A few dozen seconds later you'll run into the new
enemy - Zombie. Undead in Quake 4 are relatively fast and they're spitting dangerous acid
(some of them use weapons too). Remember about saving ammunition. Shotgun and Grenade
Launcher are the most effective at this moment and should be enough.

Walk ahead and eliminate opponents all the time. Stop in the room, where you'll see
bulldozers moving on the floor (#134). You must get to the other end of the tunnel, avoiding
the contact with moving traps because they're able them to hurt you effectively. When you'll
reach the place, look inside the last gap. There will be a passage and small ladder (#135).
Climb up. Hide behind chests, choose Railgun and watch the environment carefully. The big
Tacticals number will appear nearby - they'll try to kill you from cover. Eliminate them one
by one and (after battle), visit rooms behind the door (useful ammunition lies there).
In order to penetrate into the other end of the channel you have to use the small panel (#136)
to create the bridge. Visit remaining rooms there, recover everything you can and go trough
the last door. During the attempt to pass onto the next bridge, you'll fall down. Retreat

immediately (towards blue flare) and start Zombie's extermination. There will be quite a lot of
them, so be careful and don't get yourself killed.

After passing through the small tunnel, you'll hear the characteristic hiss spent by the 'acid
device'. You should find the shelter under the bridge (#137). When the threat will pass away,
run to the door. You will meet the soldier seen earlier (#138), with who move towards stairs
(if you look inside the tunnel on the right side earlier, you'll find some armor and
ammunition).
You must break through the next rooms and eliminate Tacticals on the way. Be vigilant
because Stroggos are able to hide well and attack only when you'll approach them.
Eventually, you'll reach the other soldiers (#139).

Deactivate Laser Scanner


You'll receive Rocket Launcher upgrade from the engineer (now you can target rockets with
ray and shoot them up quicker). The group will ask you to go through the laser trap and
deactivate it. It's not causing trouble for Strogg after all.

Recover health, armor and smoothly go through the laser field. Save the game before entering
the door. Once inside the next hall, you'll fight with Voss, err, robot (#140) created by
Stroggos from your former commander. Taking care of him isn't an easy task and requires a
few words of the comment.

After beginning of the fight, you'll see energy's belt in the top part of the screen. Liveliness is
being symbolized by the orange color but in order to hurt Voss actually, you have to get rid of
his shields first (grey belts all around). It requires non-stop fire on the target with
HyperBlaster / Nailgun, or sending a few rockets. When the armor disables, hit the enemy
with all you got. Voss will try to approach the electric field to load shields - try to hurt him as
much as you can before he’ll complete this operation.

Don't forget that fighting with Voss is a hard challenge. He uses Dark Matter Gun and also
can throw balls, that summon other Stroggos. He shoots rockets and machine gun too. As
you can see, the fight won't be like taking candy from a baby. The best advice is to run all the
time and avoid shots from Dark Matter Gun at all cost (purple balls). With rockets you can
easily destroy the containers, which Voss is using to teleportate his support. However, it's
better to leave the missiles for the main enemy and destroy new, showing up enemies at the
opportunity.
When the fight ends, go through the door located right next to the hall's entrance. Once
inside, press the button deactivating the laser field (#141). Now, the rest of the team can
move forward. Before you'll end this stage, you'll have to fight some Tacticals, that
accommodated themselves at top level of stairs. Eliminate the enemy's soldiers in turn and
carefully approach the top. After going through two passages, you'll reach the confederate
ship (#142). It's time to return on Hannibal's deck.

Operation: Last Hope

Report to Briefing
After the animation, small walk on Hannibal's deck awaits you. Hear out the doctors (#143)
and leave the hall. Turn right, than left and use the door, that are guarded by two sentinels
(#144). You'll find yourself on the briefing before the last game's mission.

Gear Up
Leave the briefing room. Go straight ahead and then turn right (the door with the Armory
sign). Find soldiers that give away the weapons (#145) and take the modified Shotgun, which
magazine now contains not eight, but ten shells.

Report to Drop Pod Launch Bay


Go trough the nearest door, turn left and later turn left again. Find the room with "D.4 Pods
1-15 bustard" sign. At the opposite end of the tunnel you'll find the button. Push it to open
the chamber with the launchers. Enter one of them (#146) and leave Hannibal's deck finally.

Regroup
After the showy landing inside enemies' base, you will receive the order to find Hollenbeck.
There's engineer along with you. Walk ahead all the time, eliminating opponents in the next
areas (Tacticals). Eventually, you'll reach the door - behind them the barrier impossible to
pass through is located.
Make a few steps back and look on the right. An armor can be found on one of the pipes
(#147). Jump in this direction and move forward. After short walk, you’ll see a passage to the
next section of the complex (#148).

Walk ahead, killing all enemies which will appear on your way. Call the elevator (#149), travel
up to the higher balcony and continue march. One of the ships will be drive in the wall,
making clear opening. Take the new passage and say hello to Hollenbeck (#150).

Reactivate TSD’s
Go through the nearest door and push the button on the panel (#151) - it'll free a few Repair
Bots. Return to the gap, break through the elevator and go down. You'll reach the room,
where you have used interface - but this time, you'll be below. Go trough the unlocked door
(#152) and enter the bigger hall.

Destroy all robots (#153) and wait until the machine will open the dome, which the weapon is
surrounded with. You are able to take Dark Matter Gun already - the strongest weapon in
the game, which fires violet slug that absorbs smaller enemies. Some Stroggos should appear
in no time - test the new gun, but do not waste all ammunition (it's very valuable). Other
weapons are good for enemies too.
The door located on the other side of the corridor will be unlocked. Take the one on the right
and enter the hall with the elevator. Some allied troops will show up (engineer is among
them). Call the elevator (#154) by clicking on the panel and travel down to finish the level.

Data Storage Security


During the ride, engineer will upgrade your Railgun (it'll break through every armor). Wait
patiently until you'll travel down and start explorating the rooms of the complex.
There's nothing to worry about during the march. None creature will show up in the
surroundings, so collect scattered items here and systematically move forward. First troubles
will start after reaching the control panel - the short animation should inform you about it.
From the device placed on the wall "will born" new monster (#155), demoniacal lady shooting
rockets - Iron Maiden. Kill her and approach the interface. When you push the button (#156),
the lights will turn on and so far quiet machinery will start to work.

Regroup
All rooms were cut off from themselves due to the fences (#157) and it's necessary to open
them with panels. Your main goal is to reach the elevator in one piece.
During braking through the next halls, you'll of course have to fight with enemies. There will
be some Iron Maidens, Tacticals and one Teleport Dropper. Don't think much - consistently
eliminate opponents, trying to get as little hits as you can. After reaching the elevator (#158),
push the button and return to the top.

Data Storage Terminal – Return

Open Hangar Doors


Hollenbeck is waiting on the top with new task for you. You must open the hangar's door to
make a passage for allied soldiers. Go through only unlocked door and move ahead. After
short walk connected to the extermination of the monsters, you'll find first elevator (#159),
that can take you to the top.
After opening the door, you'll find yourself in the place, where you met Hollenbeck for the
first time. Open the gate marked as ‘HANGAR 3’ and wait until the control panel pulls out
(#160). One click should lay out the bridge. Go to the door, located on the other side.

Move ahead and stop when you'll find yourself in the huge room. The door of the hangar is
located here. Click on the panel (#161), call for elevator and travel down. Go through the door
and use the next lift. Save the game and prepare yourself for the fight from two Light Tanks.
Tips are the same like previously - hold far from both enemies and attack them from the safe
distance. They are relatively tough (after all, an upgraded Railgun needs few perfect hits to
destroy one of them). In desperate situation, use Dark Matter Gun. If you need to recover
health, the Stroggos' machine is located on the other side of the room, directly behind the
wall opposite the elevator.
When you get rid of enemies, use the next elevator and travel to the top. In the small room,
push the only active button (#162). Finally, the expected cavalry should arrive.

Find Rhodes
You must find Rhodes to execute another task. Unfortunately, the giant monster will appear in the
hangar (#163) and completely destroy humans' plan. Don’t shoot in new enemy's direction, but
patiently wait until it flies to the top. Than use the elevator, and walk on balcony around the whole
room. You'll see soldiers' group - one of them is trying to resuscitate the colleague. Find the
engineer in the team. He'll upgrade your HyperBlaster. From this moment, energetic bullets can
bounce off walls. Now go trough the door and meet Rhodes.

Locate Security Station


You're located n the bridge created round the core. Don't turn right and run straight ahead (gate
marked as ROOF-55). After a while you'll encounter the elevator - traditionally use the button to
call it (#164). Prepare yourself to the fight against elite Stroggos soldiers' team (Tacticals). Enemies
will show up in the same door, which you have passed earlier to find yourselves here.
Travel up and find next elevator there. You'll get at the tower's roof. Wait until the hostile
transporter will drop new enemies and eliminate them (for example with Railgun). After the
fight, run to the other end of the roof. Push the button on the interface (#165). The first tower
will become active now.

Return to Tram Station


Return to the elevator and travel down. Bothered by nobody, go into the next cabin to leave
this level for good (#166).

You landed in ruined magazines, located near the train station. Move forward and eliminate
the opponents, that will attack in the large number (even Light Tank will show up).
Eventually you will reach the door (#167) leading outside (earlier, go in the room on the left -
there's ammunition for Dark Metter Gun among other things).

Raise the Bridge


You'll meet the engineer and the medic (#168). Kill soldiers that will be dropped from the
transporter and go your allies. The engineer will modify your Lightning Gun (now, it'll hit few
targets at the same time). The door will open and soldiers will run inside.
Kill all enemies and use the elevator (#169) to get on the second floor. Enter the control room
and use the panel to activate the bridge (#170). Travel down and go outside. Get rid of
enemies and move on the other side, towards the complex. From there you'll move alone, so
recover health at the medic and armor at the engineer.

After short walk, you'll see the bigger room, which is growing from enemies. Kill them and
than go right. The door in the next complex part is closed, so jump on pipes (#171) and
crawling get to the nearest platform. Gather some items and go to the door. Not far from here
you'll find the elevator, which can take you to Cortez (#172).

Align Tram Car


Your teammate admittedly drove the carriage, but you should do two other things before
moving on. First, you must place the vehicle in special room (enemies on the way). Run with
Cortez, help him in shooting and consistently move forward. After short walk, you'll reach the
big courtyard with balcony on the first floor. Kill opponents, push the button (#173) and wait
until the bridge will show up. Proceed with only available patch. Few minutes later you'll find
yourselves in control room. In order to place carriage properly, use the panel (#174) and
push the arrorw located on the left side.

Repair Tram Car


To move forward, you need also to remove some faults from the track. Cortez promises to
watch over the control room and your job is to find repair robots. Walk through the door,
wait until ladder leaves out, and climb down. Now find the elevator at the other end of the
courtyard and travel down. Run to the nearest door.
In order to move ahead, you must crawl through small gap (#175). Now you're on the other
side, in the right part of the repair complex. Walk ahead all the time, eliminating every threat
from the Stroggos. Eventually you'll reach the vast hall (#176), where Teleport Dropper is
waiting. Kill him and find the only active door. In the next room push the button on the panel
(#177) to run the machinery.

Don't return with the same way, but get to the next door (#178). Jump onto the conveyor belt
(#179), from there on moving platform, that'll take you to the balcony. On the right you'll see
door to the room with some armor. Take it and return to elevator's neighborhood and move
forward. After short walk, you should reach the door with 'Repair Bot Controls' sign. Inside,
click on the panel (#180) - robots will take the rest up.
Leave the control room and turn right. There's an elevator, so travel down. Bothered by
nobody, run towards the railway. When you get on it, the mission will end.

Tram Rail

Protect Tram Car


Cortez will take care of driving; you're taking the machine gun. The task is simple: protect
the vehicle during the ride. Enemies will attack you from other bogies (going simultaneously
with you) and from the air.

Aircrafts are more dangerous (#181), so destroy them in the first order. Do not ignore
passengers of other bogies too (#182). Soldiers use Railguns, which can seriously damage
your vehicle, so watch out. Remember that the vehicle's energy will regenerate when you stop
fire for a few seconds.
Bombers and hostile bogies aren't specially though. Few seconds of direct fire to any of
machines will always be enough. After a few minutes of the frantic ride, you'll reach the next
building eventually.

Return Power to the Processing Tower


Walk deep into the room. Right behind the first door you'll find elevator (#183). Travel up and
look for the panel (#184), located somewhere on the right side. It will create a passage to the
blocked door. Run there.
You will go through two halls with teleports. At the track's end you should see inoperative at
present generator, delivering power supply to the whole complex. Wait until the panel will
pull out (#185). Click on it and the light will finally appear. It's time to return to the elevator.
Unfortunately, your intervention has caused some Stroggos to appear. Tough fight awaits
you in the first hall (Iron Maidens, Teleport Dropper and Light Tank). Get to the second room.
Soldiers from teleports will attack you this time. Destroy teleports' devices to get rid of the
trouble. After reaching the elevator you'll see Sledge (#186).

Activate Elevator System


Activate the second bridge. Bothered by nobody, reach the hall, where the next panel is
located - these time it'll run the elevators' system (#187). Gather some nearby items, save the
game and click on the interface. Turn left, move back deep into the corridor and prepare
yourself for the though challenge.
Sledge wants to run the elevator which is located opposite the interface. In order do to that, you
must take care of three giant spiders (Stream Protectors) first. The additional difficulty is a group of
Tacticals, that'll attack from the right branch of the tunnel. Take care of spiders with rockets and
use Dark Matter Gun, if the enemy's exclusive soldiers cause the too many trouble for you.
After destroying spiders, Sledge should easily open the elevator's door (#188). Walk inside it
to finish the level.

Realign the Data Nodes


After going top, notice of red laser's rays located under the ceiling. They will lead you through
all rooms of the complex and the main purpose of the game is now to correct arrange them.
Break through the next rooms and eliminate all enemies on the way. You'll find the elevator
that can take you on another level. The considerable number of monsters will also appear
there.
Eventually you will reach the closed door (#189). Sledge will instruct you to find the solution
to unlocking them. Turn left and move straight ahead. After a while you'll see the panel
(#190) which will permit to rotate the device located in front of you (it emits laser beam).
Click twice on the right arrow and return to the door.

Again, hard braking through the enemy's rooms is waiting for you. A t the end of the route,
you'll see the next interface (#191). Push the button to open the central part of large hall
(#192). Turn right, and use elevator. Run straight ahead and look at the next interface. Now,

Walk straight ahead all the time, killing the enemy's soldiers' big group. At the end of the
route you'll see the elevator (#194). Light Tank will show up inside. Eliminate him and travel
up. Now, you'll have to face two Iron Maidens. Next, push the button on the panel (#195).
Wait until you'll travel down. The bridge leading to the Sledge will advance. Move on the other
side and go trough the open door.
In the next room (#196), a difficult fight awaits you. Light Tanks, Iron Maidens and Stroggos'
soldiers (from teleports) will try to stop you. First, eliminate Iron Maidens, than throw a few
grenades towards enemies below. After the fight, go to the door.

Walk ahead all the time. Eventually you'll reach the elevator which will take you to the
tower's roof. Two Heavy Hover Tanks and the Gladiator will show up. Eliminate them and
move on the other side of the building. Push the button (#197), wait until the second signal
will be sent towards the main complex and prepare yourself for the way back.

Return to Tram Wagon


Get into the elevator and push the button. Below, run straight ahead all the time. Eventually
you'll reach the next cabin. Enter it (#198) to end the stage.

Data Processing Terminal - Return


Very short level. Through the major part, you are doomed to the observation of the huge
creature, who will be trying at all costs to destroy the cabin. Eventually the enemy will hang
up on it (#199) and you'll start to fall very quickly. Don't worry - you won't get hurt.

When you regain control, you'll notice surely that you are located very close to the railway
that brought Kane to this tower. Use the elevator located on the center of the hall and travel
down. Safe and sound, run straight ahead and enter the carriage (#200).

Data Networking Terminal

Proceed to Tower Rooftop


You'll see allied soldier after reaching the third tower (if you need to recover health and
armor, do it now - there's the medic and the engineer). Move ahead, open the door and use
the elevator. You'll meet next humans (#201). After a while, four teleportation balls
summoning enemies will appear under the ceiling. Destroy them as fast as you can, or you'll
have to face many opponents.

Walk trough only unlocked door and activate the bridge (#202). It'll help you to get on the
other side. Call for the elevator (#203) in the next hall. You'll run into Gunner and in all four
corners of the room the next teleportation balls will appear. Kill enemies and travel up. Walk
straight ahead, successively eliminating enemies and next teleportation balls.
The huge hall is located at the end of the track. You can found teleport in the center (#204).
This time you must use it.

Data Networking Security


For the second time you'll see the Guardian (through the pane). Turn left, walk trough the
passage and open the door. Take advantage of bridge (#205) destroyed due to explosions and
run the only available patch (don't forget about destroying the balls, which are summoning
new enemies).

After short walk, you'll encounter Guardian again. He'll be shooting in you direction, so
immediately turn right and crawl through the door. You're near the starting place, but on the
other side. Jump onto the pipe (#206) proceed in blocked earlier door's direction.
Walk ahead. You'll reach the hall, where somebody closed all door. Move downstairs and look
up the gap under the platform (#207). There's a tunnel with cables. Use them to walk on the
other side of the complex. Use elevator and travel up.
You should find some armor in the corridor on the left side. On the right you'll find passage
to the elevator. Reload your weapons, save the game and use the next cabin to get at the roof.

You must kill Guardian now (#208). He's big and has powerful arsenal of weapons, but the
fight won't be especially difficult. Rocket Launcher and Railgun are the best option here. Save
the Dark Matter Gun's ammunition for the final battle with Makron. Try to keep at a distance
and to run all the time, especially when Guardian will start flying (beware of fire from
Jetpack's nozzles). There's plenty of ammunition on the roof, so gather as much as you can.
Traditionally, the energy belt will inform you of your enemy's current state (top part of the
screen).
When Guardian will become merely memory, push the button (#209) on the most advanced
end of the roof. The last signal is now active. Walk into elevator and travel down. Run
straight ahead to the portal activated before the moment (#210).

Nexus Core

The Nexus/Find Elevator


At this stage, all you need to do is fighting. Developers decided to give you the chance to
eliminate all enemies, which you have encountered in the game.
Walk straight ahead. Stroggos will close the door behind you and run into you from the other
side. Few perfect shots from Grenade Launcher should do the trick. Walk trough the gate,
which enemies fell into the hall 'with'. Turn left and use the panel (#211). Move forward.

After short walk, you'll find yourself in relatively big elevator (#212), protected temporarily by
Light Tank and some Tacticals. Push the button to travel down. The Stroggos will rush into
the lift through panes. Use Shoutgun to eliminate them. When the elevator will stop, another
fight awaits you. This time you'll face the Gladiator, Iron Maidens and Tacticals. Kill them
and move forward.

Eventually you will get to the big hall. There's the teleport in the center (#213) and you can't
destroy it. Quickly run ahead with only available patch and call for the elevator. Mind
Tacticals during the ride. After the fight, move forward. After a while You'll reach the lift cage
that will take you deep into the complex.

Scan Failed: Lock Down


After short ride, you'll reach the hall with TV screen (you can see Makron on it). Wait until
the door will open and start the enemies' extermination. Than approach the place, where the
screen was located in and jump onto the pipes (#214). Walk trough the tunnels to the ladder
(#215) and climb up.
Gather ammunition and move forward. Use the elevator - you will get to the security's room.
Push the button (#216) that unlocks all doors in the neighborhood and return to the lift cage,
which brought you on this level. On the left side you'll find the gate. Walk through them to
get to the next part of the complex.
You'll find yourself in the big hall (#217). Reload all weapons, save the game and move
forward when you'll be ready for the really though challenge. Now, you have to face three
groups of monsters: Light Tanks, Heavy Hover Tanks and Stream Protectors. The fight won't
be easy, so use Dark Matter Gun, but also save ammunition for Makron. End battle with
victory and move forward.

At the end of the route, you'll see the ladder. Climb down, get onto the pipes through the bay
and run on the other side (#218) of the vast hall. Climb the next ladder up and jump over
security barriers towards the pipes on the left side. Finally, you'll get to the last platform with
the only available door.
In the next room (#219) turn right find the ladder leading down. If you use it, and then run
the long tunnel, you’ll find armor. Climb back up and encounter the last big group of
monsters. Kill them all and walk through the door. Push the button (#220) to finish this level.

The Nexus
There's the long platform in front of you, where you can find ammunition, health and armor.
Gather everything you can, reload weapons, save the game and approach the door. It's time
for the final duel with Makron (#221).
Stroggs' leader is a though enemy, but not immortal. The fight can be very easy or really hard
- it depends on the Dark Matter Gun's ammunition that you have. Traditionally, Makron
energy is showed on the belt located in the top part of the screen. You have to deprive him of
energy twice (during the second approach he'll begin to fly). Hit Makron with all you got
(Dark Matter Gun is the best option). Try to run all the time and avoid enemy's bullets. This
is the revenge time!

Killing Makron doesn’t end your adventure with Quake 4. As soon as the enemy falls, save
the game and use one of the teleports (they are located in every corner of the vast hall), get to
the balcony. Quickly recover energy by using machine placed on the wall and wait until the
protected by force field brain will appear in the center of the room.
The organ isn't dangerous, but the enemies that will show up suddenly on the battlefield,
are. Try to eliminate opponents and shoot with any machine weapon to blue bar (#222),
located under the ceiling. In this way the brain will be deprived of the force field and than
you can start frontal attack. Rocket Launcher is the best option here (it's fast and makes a
lot of damage), alternatively use Railgun. The brain will again obtain the force field after a
while, so repeat the whole operation. If other enemies are really bothering you, shoot in their
direction with Dark Matter Gun.
After exhausting fight, the brain will be destroyed for good. Your adventure with newest
Raven Software's game has came to an end. You can't do anything more, but only wait for
possible expansion...

Enemies
Berserker

He appears in the first levels and he’s the hardest challenge for players, who just have
started adventure with the game. Berserkers are tough (300 health points) and fast, but they
can be effective only in hand-to-hand combat (their punch can easily push back Kane for few
meters). They use energetic attacks too, by sticking in the ground skewer, which is placed in
their right arm. Very dangerous in small, narrow locations, where is hard to maneuver them.
Due to the fact that many Berserkers appear in the beginning of the game, you’ll mainly use
machine gun or shotgun to eliminate them (in the second case, you must hit the target three
times, before it dies). Accurate shot in the Berserker’s head will double hit damage.

Convoy

Very fast, steel ‘balls’ causing players a lot of trouble especially in missions, which requires
vehicles. They usually appears in larger groups by rolling in to the battlefield from hard to
reach places or by falling down from planes. Convoy looks for convenient position and tries to
shoot players with nails. Due to the fact that Convoys have relatively small endurance (200
health points), they aren’t difficult to defeat.
To deal with them easily, wait until Convoy will stop rolling (during the movement, a force
field is protecting him against any damages). Shooting Convoy with machine gun or cannon
should do the trick.

Gladiator

Gladiators don’t appear in the game as often as above-mentioned enemies, but they can
cause a lot of pain. Regardless of slow movement, they attack Kane with ease, using machine
gun or Railgun. Gladiators are very tough (550 health points). Additionally, they posses
energetic shield, protecting them against bullets from machine weapons.
The most important thing it not to leave Gladiators without bother. If you don’t attack them,
they will easily deprive Kane of health points with Railgun. Try to make use of their slow
movement and run as much as you can. Machine weapons are no use, when the enemy
enables energetic shield. The best way to defeat them, is to attack with Grenade Launcher
(hard to miss), Rocket Launcher or Railgun. Accurate shot in the Gladiator’s head will double
hit damage – it’s worth trying after activating Railgun’s sight.

Grunt

From the beginning of the game, Grunts accompany evil Stroggos in defending the base from
human’s attack. They’re tougher than normal soldiers (150 health points) and much quicker.
Due to the fact that Grunt is effective only in hand-to-hand combat, he usually dies before
reaching the player. Annihilate them by using machine gun and shotgun (two hits are
enough). In any circumstances, don’t let Grunt come near you.

Gunner

You’ll run into Gunner for the first time during the third level (Hangar Permiter). As tough
and fast as Berserkers (300 health points), but they prefer keeping and fighting player at a
distance. Gunners have nailed-machine gun and grenade launcher used alternately.
Gunners are very dangerous, especially when they’re surrounded by other soldiers and when
the situation forces players to attack few targets at the same time. If Gunner stand higher
than the player (for example on balcony), he will use grenade launcher (fortunately, shells are
easy to destroy in the air/on the ground). Attack with weapons similar to machine gun or
Railgun. Accurate shot in the Gunner’s head won’t double damage, so give it up.

Harvester

Big, red robots, which resembles spiders. In my opinion, Harvesters have the most
interesting concept from all enemies from the game. They appear in few levels, but direct
fight will be possible only if you drive a vehicle (tank or mech). Extremely resilient (5000
health points) and very dangerous. Harvesters attack mainly with machine gun. From time to
time, they’ll fire rockets in your direction too.
Fighting with Harvester depends on vehicle, which you’re driving. Hovertank has big
firepower – few shots from cannon should be enough to defeat Harvester. Piloting the mech
means you must destroy Harvester’s rockets with machine gun and attack enemy in spare
time with better weapons.

Heavy Hover Tanks

Soldiers with the ability to levitate, equipped with standard Blaster and Rocket Launcher. For
the first time, you’ll run into them in aqueducts, but it won’t be a hard challenge – you’ll
have tank with heavy cannon on your side. True problems should appear in game’s ending,
when Heavy Hover Tanks will be defending Strogg’s main complex. They occur in two types:
smaller (800 health points) and bigger (1200 health points).
As I mentioned above, Heavy Hover Tanks can be difficult to defeat in the game’s ending,
when you’ll concentrate on fighting with traditional weapons. During fight, try to move all the
time. It’s important, because Heavy Hover Tank’s rockets may heavily damage Kane.

Hornet

Fighter planes that you’ll encounter in three levels – during tank and mech driving missions.
Hornets attack from the air with Blaster and rockets (weaker than Heavy Hover Tank’s
missiles). They can transport Convoys that are additional challenge in missions, which
requires vehicles. Relatively tough (750 health points).
Hornets are very responsive and quickly escape from machine gun’s bullets. The best way to
defeat them depends on precise aiming and firing from the heavy cannon. Usually, one direct
hit should be enough. In mech’s mission you must concentrate on shooting them with
machine gun – rockets are too slow (unfortunately).

Iron Maiden

The only ‘ladies’ in the game, which appear in the ending (Data Storage Security). They are
being produced by devices placed in the walls (you’ll hear characteristic sound). Iron Maidens
have the ability to levitate (aiming = hard task) and fire rockets. They can also teleportate,
disappearing systematically from battlefield. Fortunately, these ‘ladies’ aren’t so tough (400
health points).
During the fight try to use weapons similar to machine guns – it’ll prevent Iron Maidens from
annoying teleportations. Shotgun is the second good option, but only for a short range
combat. Sometimes Iron Maidens can be a real pain, so you’ll need to use better weapons.

Light Tank

Very dangerous creatures, one of the toughest (750 health points) soldiers in Stroggos’ army.
They usually appear rarely (first time in Recomposition Center), but in the game’s ending
you’ll fight lots of them. Light Tanks are very fast and really hard to defeat in hand-to-hand
combat. They also use flame throwers and plasma rifles.
Light Tanks are stupid. They’ll run in player’s direction no matter the cost - you can easily
retreat and bury them with grenades. The real task starts when Light Tanks attack in
groups. In case of a real danger, use your best weapons, including Dark Metter Gun.

Marine

Basic Stroggos' army soldiers. They aren’t tough (80 health points) but very active (jumping
aside, somersaulting, etc.). Marine are difficult to defeat only in big groups. Use Blaster,
Machine Gun or Shotgun to eliminate them. The first enemy that you’ll encounter in the
game, hard to find in the ending.
Due to the continuously movement, use Machine Gun or Shotgun to deal with the Marine.
Don’t waste better weapon’s ammunition, unless there’s many of them attacking at the same
time. Remember that accurate shot in the Marine’s head will double hit damage.

Scientist

Strogg’s scientists, who are caring out medical experiments on humans. They are also busy
with the process of creating new soldiers. Scientists appear in one level (Strogg Medicial
Facilities) and don’t stand a chance of winning with experienced player (150 health points).
They attack with chainsaw (very low damages) and with syringes, throwed in Kane’s direction
(poisonous liquid inside; it takes some health points and disturb normal vision for a while).
In the moment of running into Scientists you won’t have big arsenal of weapons (and ammo)
to choose from, therefore attack them with shotgun (two hits are enough). Try to avoid
syringes – few unexpected hits received in the same time will cause you only trouble.

Sentry

Heavily armored, flying soldiers. You’ll encounter them for the first time in Nexus complex.
They are equipped with energetic weapons (rather serious damages) and sometimes prefer
suicide attacks, which cost players 3/4 of health points (without armor). Usually, Sentries
are moving and attacking in groups. Fortunately, they have only 100 health points.
Use Machine Gun and Lightning Gun in long distance combat. They are moving quickly,
therefore HyperBlaster ammo is too precious to waste on them. In close range combat choose
Shotgun. Accurate shot in the Sentry’s green container will double hit damages and precise
shot in the head means 1.25 of normal hit damages.

Stream Protector

Big robots on four legs. Stream Protectors appear in three levels (first time in Nexus Hub,
just before meeting Makron). They always attack in groups, which makes their extermination
difficult for players. Stream Protectors shoot rockets with big explosive power (if you are
without an armor, perfect hit will kill you). These spiders are very tough (1000 health points).
During the fight, concentrate on shooting in the Stream Protector’s head (double hit damage).
You can shoot down opponent’s rockets easily. Use HyperBlaster (bullets will destroy enemy’s
missiles and attack Stream Protector at the same time) or Rocket Launcher to defeat them.

Tactical

Stroggos elite unit's soldiers. Extremely difficult to defeat, they’ll encounter you almost all the
time after visiting Dispersal Facility. These soldiers use many different weapons, from Blaster
to Railgun. Hidden Tactical with Railgun is usually first step to game over for the player.
Fortunately, they aren’t extremely tough (125 health points).
The safest way to eliminate Tactical is to use Railgun from a distance. Wait until the soldier
sticks out from hideout and shoot him down – just like that. If there’s no time to use Railgun,
than choose Shotgun. Try to shoot in Tactical’s head (double hit damage).

Teleport Dropper

Dogs with teleportation devices placed on their back, which can summon other Stroggos.
Teleport Dropper’s attack is very weak (bite). Usually they drop balls that summon soldiers
and retreat. Teleport Droppers are relatively tough (500 health points), but they hardly ever
appear on the battlefield (fortunately).
After seeing this dog, attack immediately - every summoned soldier is just another trouble.
Use HyperBlaster (it blocks teleportation ability) or Rocket Launcher (rockets can easily
destroy summoning balls, before new enemies can materialize) to shoot down Teleport
Droppers.

They appear just in one level (Waste Processing Facility), but in big numbers. Zombies aren’t
tough (70 health points), but extremely dangerous. These creatures attack by spitting acid,
which quickly reduces your health points. Some of undead use shotguns, but it happens
rarely.
Eliminate them with Machine Gun (accurate shot in the Zombie’s head will double hit
damage) or Shotgun (in close range combat). When you’ll see acid, retreat immediately. Look
around frequently, because undead move very quiet and can sneak on you and attack with
ease at the most unexpected moment.
