EN 565 2797
This webbing [tape] is intended for use in mountaineering and recreational climbing applications for
tying slings, setting anchors, extending protection, general lashing etc.
Protect the webbing from sharp edges, rock fall, axes, crampons or anything that could cut the web-
bing. The temperature of this webbing must never exceed 80C [176 f.]. It must be destroyed if
exposed to temperatures higher than 80C. [176 f]
This webbing may become stiff under wet or icy conditions adversely affecting the strength, handling
and knotability characteristics. The tensile strength in the webbing and in knots used will be reduced
when wet. If the webbing becomes frozen it also loses strength and will become stiff and difficult to
use safely.
Always inspect this webbing and all other gear prior to and immediately after use to determine if there
is damage to the equipment! ! Tensile strength listed is for new webbing.Tensile strength will decrease
with age and use.
This webbing should be stored in a clean, dry environment out of direct sunlight. Improper storage
will shorten the useable life of this webbing. We recommend a maximum of five years life, under ideal
storage conditions, from date of purchase before retirement. This webbing must be immediately
retired and destroyed to prevent use by an unknowing person if any of the following conditions are
present: signs of abrasion indicated by fraying of the fibers, discoloration due to any contamination,
Ultraviolet ray [UV] damage indicated by the presence of fading or discoloration, cuts, glazing indicat-
ed by melted fibers due to excessive heat from friction. Knots placed in this webbing can significant-
ly reduce tensile strength!
During a climb it is necessary to take into account the effects of arresting a fall by using or placing
protection points to prevent hitting the ground. In the event of a serious fall or overloading this tape
(webbing) must be immediately retired from further use.
The various components of the belay system [harness, carabiners, webbing, rope, anchors, belay
devices, descenders etc] should conform to UIAA or EN standards.
This webbing may be cleaned using mild solution of soap and cold water. Rinse several times to
remove traces of soap and air dry in the shade. DO NOT use bleach, bleach substitutes or ANY
other aggressive chemicals. Do not allow acids or aggressive chemicals to come into contact with any
part of this webbing. If you are unsure as to the suitability of a particular cleaning agent, DO NOT
USE IT. If acids, bases [alkalies] come into contact with this webbing it must be retired immediately
and destroyed to prevent future use by anyone.
Proper use instruction must be obtained prior to using this or any mountaineering equipment.
Contact AMGA at 303-271-0984 or your local retailer to assist locating competent instruction.
We recommend a water knot for joining the ends of this webbing. ALWAYS back up all knots!!
Repeated loading and unloading will loosen knots in webbing. Always double check every aspect of
your system to prevent injury or death.
Each contrasting stripe in this webbing signifies a 5kN increment in tensile strength.
