Conditional sentences of ‘If’


1. If + Present + Future
2. If + Past + Past Conditional (would/ could/ might + verb (base form) }
3. If + past perfect + perfect conditional { would/ could/ might / have + verb (pp) }

Examples:
1. If he comes, I will go.
2. If he came, I would go.
3. If he had come, I would have gone.

If you read more, you will know/learn more.

Past conditional: would/could/might + Verb (base form)


Perfect conditional: would/could/might + have + V (PP)

1. Inspite of the cowboy shouting for help, nobody came to his aid.
2. Since he made a promise, he kept it.
3. By moving, you will die.
4. Work hard or you will not pass.
5. The mouse saw the cat and ran into the hole.
6. The sun having set, we went out for a walk.
7. He is rich and learned. / He is both rich and learned.
8. Since I helped him, he could pass. / If I had not helped him, he would not have passed.

Types of sentences- simple, compound and complex


- Move and die (compound)
If you move, you will die. (complex)
By moving, you will die. (Simple)

-Move or die (compound)


If you don't move, you will die. (Complex)
By not moving, you will die.
Either he or you are/ were to be blamed.
