Virtual Microscope Assignment
Virtual Microscope Assignment
Allow the page a few moments to load and then along the bottom of the virtual lab you will see a tab that
says “GUIDE,” “LEARN,” “EXPLORE,” “TEST,” and “OPTIONS.”
1. Click the tab that says “GUIDE” and read everything carefully. Move from one page to the next in this
reference guide. You must learn the parts of the microscope including what those parts are called
and what they do. This will take several minutes to read through.
2. Next, click the tab that says “LEARN” and then click on each object or part of an object with a question
mark on it to educate yourself. This will take a few minutes to read and process.
3. Then, click the tab that says “EXPLORE” and click the question mark on the slide box. Work your way
through viewing all of the slides available in the virtual slide box. You will learn how to properly view
them using multiple magnifications and how to properly focus and adjust the light for clear viewing.
This will take some time to work through.
4. Finally, click the tab that says “TEST” and notice there are three categories for testing. One is called
“Care & Usage,” another is “Calculating Magnification,” and the last one is “Terminology.” Take all
three tests as many times as you need to until you earn a score of 100%. When you have scored
100%, take a screenshot of your impressive score. Use Microsoft Paint or some other photo editing
software to crop your screenshot so it only displays the relevant part. If you do not know how to crop
a photo, Google it. Save your cropped screenshots as SCREENSHOT 1, SCREENSHOT 2, and
SCREENSHOT 3 to a location on your computer where you can find them.
5. Create a Microsoft Word document that looks like the sample below. It should contain your name,
and your three screenshots. If you do not know how to insert an image into Word, Google it. The
ones I used below do not have scores of 100% so they are just meant to show you the format of the
document you need to create. Your document should only be one page long, so you might have to
resize your inserted pictures. Once your document is completed, save it with a name that makes
sense like, “YOUR NAME – Virtual Microscopy” and print a copy. Submit that copy to the HW box.
