Summer 2024 Assignment 2
PLANE SURVEYING 2 (CEP 112)
Traverse
Question 1:-
Given the following traverse:-

Line Length (m) Reduced Bearing Departure (m) Latitude (m)

AB ? S 28° 22' 58" W ? -56.276
BC ? N 47° 16' 49" W -57.728 ?
CD ? ? 139.750 91.651
DA ? ? ? ?

Assuming no linear closing error in the traverse, copy the traverse table in your answer,
Preform all computations and the missing data in the table.

Question 2:-
Calculate the adjusted coordinates of the following 4th degree traverse, if the coordinates of
point A and E are (7526.37m, 6433.60m) and (7903.17m, 6535.10m) respectively.
Line Length(m) Bearing
AB 198.30 46° 20' 16''
BC 150.75 34° 10' 29''
CD 204.65 111° 34' 19''
DE 94.36 206° 12' 36''

Question 3:-
In the traverse ABCDA, the following information are available the coordinates of known
stations.
Point Easting (m) Northing (m)
A 2653.993 3109.440
B 2011.206 2343.395
C 2777.250 1700.608

Also, the following angles were measured:-

<DAB=80° 00' 08'' <BCD=50° 00' 08'' <CDA=140° 00' 08''
Find the angular closing error of the traverse, if this closing error is allowable, find the
corrected angles Also, find the bearings of all sides.

Question 4:-
A closed traverse ABCDE in which: AB = 134.64m, BC = 140.70m, CD = 95.60m, DE =
145.50m, EA = 57.30m, <CBA = 95° 19' 27'', <DCB = 115° 17' 48'', <EDC = 72° 23' 16'',
<AED = 201° 43' 55'', <BAE = 55° 14' 39''. If the bearing of AB = 64° 32' 09'' and coordinates
of point A are (676.28m, 5876.24m), calculate the angular closing error, the error ratio
(relative error) and the adjusted coordinates of points B, C, D, and E using both the Bowditch
and Component method. Compare between the results.

Question 5:-
A, B, C, D are four stations which have been fixed at three streets AB, BC, CD and the following
data were recorded:-

Line Length (m) Angle Value

AB 345.50 ABC 115° 45' 30"
BC 842.16 BCD 96° 59' 40"
CD 615.75

The bearing of AB was found to be 134° 30' 00". It is required to join the midpoint of AB to the
midpoint of CD with pipe line, find out the length and bearing of that project.

Question 6:-
In the closed traverse ABCDA, these is a mistake in the given traverse, discover the line which has
the wrong length then, assuming no linear closing error, find the corrected length of this line and
the coordinates of all stations, knowing that the coordinates of point A (2039.379 , 3139.058)m.
Line Length(m) Bearing
AB 211.150 45° 00' 00''
BC 201.560 145° 37' 22''
CD 236.170 248° 01' 58''
DA 144.530 15° 48' 40''

Question 7:-
In the traverse ABCDEA, the following angles and lengths are measured:

Line Length (m) Angle Value

AB 650.01 ABC 88° 57' 08"
BC 649.78 BCD 132° 56' 09"
CD 403.05 CDE 119° 51' 37"
DE 443.80 DEA 100° 21' 04"
EA 760 EAB 97° 54' 52"

If the bearing of AB is 345° 55' 45", find the corrected components of all baselines.
