1.0 Brief Introduction :-

A case study of a past installed illumination scheme involves analyzing the lighting
design, installation, and performance of a specific lighting project. It typically reviews
the effectiveness of light distribution, energy efficiency, and overall impact on the
environment. The polar curve of the illumination scheme represents the luminous
intensity distribution of the light source, indicating how light is dispersed at various
angles from the fixture.

A single-phase induction motor is an electric motor that operates on a single-phase power supply.
It typically consists of a stator and a rotor, where the stator's alternating current creates a
magnetic field to induce rotation in the rotor. These motors are commonly used in household
appliances and low-power industrial applications due to their simplicity and cost-effectiveness.

 INTRODUCTION

A single-phase induction motor is a widely used electric motor that

operates on single-phase alternating current (AC). It is known for its
simplicity and cost-effectiveness, making it ideal for various low-power
applications in household appliances and small industries. These motors
consist of two main components: a stator, which is stationary and
generates a magnetic field, and a rotor, which rotates and drives
mechanical loads.

Unlike three-phase motors, single-phase induction motors do not

produce a self-starting rotating magnetic field. To overcome this,
additional components like a start winding or a capacitor are used to
initiate rotation. Once the motor reaches a certain speed, it continues to
operate efficiently on the main winding alone.

Single-phase induction motors are commonly used in applications such

as fans, pumps, washing machines, and air conditioners due to their
robustness, ease of use, and low maintenance. However, they are
generally less efficient and produce lower starting torque compared to
three-phase motors.
