Shelly Crochet Blanket

/ Crochet Baby Blankets, Crochet Blankets / By thatcrochetlife

Try this pattern to make a gorgeous blanket made up of wide shell stitches. The Shelly Crochet Blanket pattern has an easy repeat and works up quickly. I made this
blanket using 2 skeins Bernat Softee Baby Yarn in pink and 1 skein white. I had roughly half a skein of both leftover when the blanket was complete. The pattern can be
adjusted easily to any size you want to make.

Finished Size

Approx 30″ W x 27″ L (76 cm W x 69 cm L)

Materials

Approx. 650 yards of #3 light weight yarn in color A (main color)

Approx. 300 yards of #3 light weigh yarn in color B (border color)

Row 2: Sc in the 1st st, sk 3 sts *shell stitch in the next st, sk 3 sts, slp st in the next, sk 3 sts* repeat from * to * ending with a sc in the last st. Ch 3, turn. (The chain 3
counts as the first dc of the next row.)

Row 3: Place 3 more dc in the same st as the chain 1. *Sk 3 sts, slp st in the middle st of the shell of the previous row, sk 3 sts, shell stitch in the next st (in the slp st
from the previous row).* Repeat from * to * until you have 3 sts left. Sk 3 stitches, and place 4 dc in the last st., turn.

Row 4 until the end: Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you’ve reached your desired length. Turn to begin row to even out shells.

Final row: This row is to even out the shells for the border. If you ended the previous row with 4 dc, then start with 2 sc, then hdc, then dc in the slp st of the previous
row. Then for each shell, dc in the first st, hdc in the next 2 sts, sc in the middle st/top of the shell, hdc in the next 2 sts, dc in the next, and dc in the slip st of the
previous row. If you ended with a sc, then you will start with a dc, then continue evening out the shell as described.

Cut the yarn, and weave in ends.

Border pattern

Join the border color to any stitch.

Round 1: Sc in each st around, placing 3 sc in the corner sts, slp st to the first st, ch 1.

Round 2: Repeat round 1.

Round 3: *Sk 2 sts, dc in the next st, ch 1, then go back 2 stitches, dc in the 1st skipped st (there should be an empty stitch in the middle of the two dc).* Repeat from *
to * as evenly as possible all the way around (you may to need to adjust by skipping only 1 stitch depending on how many sts you have on each side). Slp st to the 1st
st, ch 1.

Round 4: Place 5 dc in the chain space of 1st pair of crossed dc sts, *slip st in the next chain space, 5 dc in the next chain space* Repeat from * to * until the end of the
round, slp st into the 1st st.

Fasten off, weave in the ends, and enjoy!
