overall academic performance. If each prize is ₹200 less than its preceding prize, find the
value of each of the prizes.

Q 27. In a school, students decided to plant trees in and around the school to reduce air
pollution. It was decided that the number of trees, that each section of each class will plant,
will be double of the class in which they are studying. If there are 1 to 12 classes in the
school and each class has two sections, find how many trees were planted by the students.

Q 28.a) The sum of first m terms of an AP is 4m2 – m. If its nth term is 107, find the value of
n. Also find the 21st term of this A.P.

Q 28.b) A well-drilling company charges ₹ 1500 the first foot of a well, ₹1525 for drilling the
second foot, ₹1550 for drilling the third foot, and so on. How much would it cost to have this
company drill a 100-foot well?

Q 33.a) A clock chimes once at 1:00, twice at 2:00, three times at 3:00, and so on. The clock
also chimes once at 15 – minute intervals that are not on the hour. How many times does the
clock chime in a 12 – hour period?

Q 33.b) There are 25 trees at equal distances of 5m in a line with a well, the distance of the
well from the nearest tree being 10m. A gardener waters all the trees separately starting from
the well and he returns to the well after watering each tree to get water for the next. Find the
total distance the gardener will cover in order to water all the trees.

Q 34. If pth, qth and rth terms of an A.P. are a, b, c respectively, then show that

(a – b)r + (b – c)p+ (c – a)q = 0.

Q 35.a) If m times the mth term of an A.P. is n times its nth term, find the value of ( m + n )

Q 35.b) A thief runs with a uniform speed of 100 m/min. After 1 minute, a policeman runs
after the thief to catch him. He runs with a speed of 100 m/min in the first minute and
increases his speed by 10 m/min every succeeding minute. After how many minutes will the
policeman catch the thief?

SECTION E (CASE STUDY QUESTIONS (3x4=12))

This section comprises of 3 case-study/passage-based questions of 4 marks each with two


sub-questions. First two case study questions have three sub questions of marks 1, 1, 2
respectively. The third case study question has two sub questions of 2 marks each.

Q 36. India is an emerging competitive manufacturing location of electronic goods due to


relatively low cost of manpower and strong technical or engineering capabilities leading to
higher quality production runs.
The production of smart television sets in a production unit increases uniformly by a fixed
number every year. It produced 16000 sets in 6th year and 22600 in 9th year.

Based on the above, answer the following questions:

i) How many television sets were produced in first year?

ii.a) Find the production during first 3 years

ii.b) In which year is the production worth ₹ 29,200?
iii) Find the difference of the production during 7th year and 4th years.

Q 37. In a class the teacher asks every student to write an example of A.P. Two friends Aman
and Anant writes their progressions as -5, -2, 1, 4,... and 187, 184, 181,….... respectively.
Now, the teacher asks various students of the class the following questions on these two
progressions. Help students to find the answers of the questions

i) Find the 34th term of the progression written by Anant.

ii.a) Find the difference (D) of common differences of the two progressions and form an A.P.
with D as the common difference and first term as sum of first terms of two given
progressions of Aman and Anant respectively.

OR

ii.b) If Anant forms a progression by adding 3 to each term of his actual progression, find the
sum of first 5 terms of the new arithmetic progression.

iii) If for an AP, S n = 2n + 3 , find the tenth term of this AP.

Q 38. In a pathology lab, a culture test has been conducted. In the test, the number of bacteria
taken into consideration in various samples is all 3-digit numbers that are divisible by 7,
taken in order. Based on this answer the following questions:
