This system transfer condensate water from the steam turbine hot water into the boiler deaerator.
Process; turbine exhaust team from the LP casing is condensated in the condenser. Condensate
water flows through two condensate pumps of which [one is running and one is on standby] and the
gland heater before it divided into two pipelines. One line goes through minimum flow recirculation
pipe of condensate pump and flow back to the condenser mainly to ensure there is adequate cooling
water for gland seal heater, also to provide a minimum flow to protect the condensate pump.
Another line goes through preheater to provide feedwater for deaerator. Before entering the boiler
equipment there is a condensate drain line which is used for emergency or to drain out the
unqualified condensate into Circulation system after overhaul before starting the unit. There are
high pressure bypass, low pressure bypass, low pressure cylinder, shaft seal steam, desuperheater
water for flash tank before the condensate pipeline of gland heater. On the main pipe there is one
line which goes to supply the condensate pump shaft seal water another one goes to make up the U-
tube shape water Seal of gland heater. There is sample line on the condensate pipe for monitoring
and adjustment of condensate water quality because of the loss of steam and water in the
thermodynamic cycle process, there is a make up line set up to supply DI water while water flow is
controlled by make up regulating valve during normal

STARTUP CHECKS ON CONDENSATE SYSTEM
1.In case the condensate pump is shut down for long time motor insulation resistance test should be
done and the value should be more than 0.5 megaohms.
2.Confirm that there is no maintenance permit work repair ticket or related work on the condensate
system and the system has been restored or standby.
3.Confirmed that the condenser hot water level is greater than 600mm
4.Confirm both closed cooling system and compressed air system are running normal.
5.Confirm that the condensate pump inlet manual valve is open.
6.Confirm that the condensate pump outlet electric motor valve has power and in remote control
mode and fully opened.
7.Confirm drain and vent valves are fully closed.
8.Manual valve to all the customers should be fully open.
9.Confirmed that pump oil level is more than half, the color should not be too deep or too light.
PUMP ISOLATION
1.Close the outlet electric motor valve fully and ensure that it has no power on it.
2.Close the inlet manual valve
3.Close the anti-cavitation manual valve
4.Close the self sealing manual valve
5.Close the outlet and inlet manual valves or closed cooling water.
6. open the inlet drain manual and vent valve
PUMP REINSTATE.
1.Close the inlet drain manual valve and vent valve
2.Open the self seal manual valve
3.Open anti-cavitation manual valve slowly to avoid pressure drop to running pump.
4.Open the inlet and outlet manual valves of closed cooling water
5.Open inlet manner valve
6.Open the outlet electric motor valve fully.
HOW TO CARRIED OUT INSPECTION DURING NORMAL RUNNING.
1.Check the running status of the pump to ensure it is running normal.
2.Check for abnormal sound and vibration
3.Check for oil and water leakages from pipes and pumps
4.Check if cooling water is flowing to bearings of the pump.
5.The pump inlet and outlet pressure should be within normal running range.
6.Check the lube oil level and color for the pump’s bearings. the level should be between the upper
and lower marking of the oil tube.
7.Check the temperature of the condenser motor and the level as well as to ensure they are in
normal running range
On the standby pump do the following checks:
1.There should not be backflow of water through the pump. The spinning of the pump rotor is an
indication of backflow.
2.Check for water leakages on the pump and its pipe.
There should be lube oil in the oil tube and the level end color should be checked also.
