BOARD SUMMARY

WORLD WIDE WEB

The World Wide Web (WWW), commonly known as the Web, is an information system where
documents and other web resources are identified by Uniform Resource Locators, which may be
interlinked by hypertext, and are accessible over the Internet

The World Wide Web (WWW or simply the Web) is an information system that enables content
sharing over the Internet through user-friendly ways meant to appeal to users beyond IT specialists
and hobbyists. It allows documents and other web resources to be accessed over the Internet
according to specific rules of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP).

It is the leading information retrieval service of the Internet (the worldwide computer network). The
Web gives users access to a vast array of mass media and content—via the deep web, the dark web,
and the commonly accessible surface web—that is connected by means of hypertext or hypermedia
links i.e. hyperlinks, electronic connections that link related pieces of information in order to allow a
user easy access to them.

INTERNET ACCESS
Internet access refers to the ability to connect to the Internet, allowing individuals to access information,
connect with others, and take advantage of various opportunities in areas such as education, business,
and healthcare. Internet access refers to users or organizations connecting to the internet via laptops,
mobile devices, or personal computers. It is often provided in schools, public places, homes,
workplaces, libraries, internet cafes, etc. Data signalling rates determine internet access; hence users
are connected at varying internet speed rates. Because of internet access, web-based services and
internet services are available.

HOW TO ACCESS/NAVIGATE WEBSITES

2. Load our Internet browser e.g Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge etc

BOARD SUMMARY

FRONT PAGE

Microsoft FrontPage
Microsoft Office FrontPage is a program made by Microsoft to help people make webpages and full
websites. It was one of Microsoft Office programs until 2003. Microsoft FrontPage was commercially
available in four versions. FrontPage 98, FrontPage 2000, FrontPage 2002 & FrontPage 2003. A
freeware version was also included in earlier releases of Internet Explorer. It was called FrontPage
Express. It was a useful web editor without costing as much as professional software. FrontPage is a
WYSIWYG, "What You See Is What You Get", Web Editor. All versions of FrontPage are still in use by
web developers all over the globe. It was discontinued in 2006, being replaced by Microsoft
Expression Web and Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer. The first version of the app was made by
Vermeer Technologies in 2005, before its acquisition by Microsoft.
WEB DESIGN

Web design is the art of planning and arranging content on a website so that it can be
shared and accessed online with the world. A combination of aesthetic and functional
elements, web design is a type of digital design that determines the look of a website—such
as its colors, fonts, graphics and user interface.

WEB DEVELOPMENT

Web development, also known as website development, refers to the tasks associated with creating,
building, and maintaining websites and web applications that run online on a browser. It may,
however, also include web design, web programming, and database management.

Web development is closely related to the job of designing the features and functionality of apps (web
design). The term development is usually reserved for the actual construction of these things (that is
to say, the programming of sites). The basic tools involved in web development are programming
languages called HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), and
JavaScript. There are, however, a number of other programs used to “manage” or facilitate the
construction of sites that would otherwise have to be done “from scratch” by writing code. A number of
content management systems (CMS) fall into this category, including WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal,
TYPO3, and Adobe Experience Manager, among other more recent ones like Wix, Adobe
Macromedia etc
