SMR Global Supplier Manual - Additional Customer Specific Requirements

Scope of this document


The scope of this document is to ensure compliance to customer requirement by sub-suppliers of
SMR Automotive who are supplying for any Jaguar Land Rover project (JLR). This document is listing
requirements for these suppliers in addition to standard IATF16949 requirements and in addition to
standard SMR requirements.

Responsibility
Suppliers who are supplier for SMR of a component for a JLR product shall meet all requirements
listed in this document during the whole project lifetime. This includes but not limited to:
 Regularly check for updates of this document on www.smr-automotive.com
 Ensure availability and awareness of related JLR standards and requirements mentioned in
this document
 Ensure requirements are met in their supply chain

1. Change Management (IATF 16949 section 8.4.1.2)


Suppliers shall have a change management process that sub-suppliers must use to communicate
and obtain appropriate approvals for product or process changes. This process shall meet the
requirements of JLR’s Supplier Request for Engineering Change (SREA) process. Following
changes, the Part Approval process shall be used to validate the change.

2. Supplier Evaluation (IATF 16949 section 8.4.2.4)


Suppliers shall have a Supplier Evaluation process to ensure that suitable sub-suppliers are sourced
for JLR business in respect to the product and manufacturing processes that will be involved.

3. Quality Management/ System Management (IATF 16949 section 8.4.2.4.1)


Suppliers shall require sub-suppliers to have a Quality Management System that shall be considered
as part of supplier selection and actively engage with sub-suppliers, based on risk analysis, to develop
their QMS with the aim of achieving compliance with JLR standards.
Suppliers shall monitor sub-supplier quality and delivery performance. In order to quantify the extent
to which sub-suppliers meet supplier and JLR performance requirements and to engage with them
accordingly when these requirements are not met.
Suppliers shall engage with sub-suppliers to further develop their QMS based on quality and delivery
performance results.

4. Risk Analysis (IATF 16949 section 8.4.2.5)


Suppliers shall conduct risk analysis as part of supplier selection in support of the above requirement
and as part of ongoing supplier monitoring. This analysis shall consider all factors that may impact
on the sub-supplier’s ability to meet JLR’s quality and delivery requirements.

5. Part Approval (IATF 16949 section 8.4.3)


Suppliers shall follow a recognized Advanced Part Quality Planning process for all new parts or
process introductions for JLR product and then utilize a Part Approval process that shall be used with
all sub-suppliers involved with the design, manufacture and testing of JLR parts. The supplier shall
engage with sub-suppliers in accordance with a risk analysis and shall aim to ensure that sub-supplier
products and processes meet all supplier and JLR requirements.

6. Cascade of Requirements (IATF 16949 section 8.4.3.1)


Suppliers shall have their own published customer specific requirements equivalent to these JLR
minimum requirements that require these requirements to be cascaded down the supply chain from
tier 2 to tier n. The supplier shall engage with sub-suppliers to ensure that these minimum
requirements are being applied correctly.
