The performing arts, also known as performance art, comprise the practice and study of all
forms of artistic expression that involve representation on stage, such as theatre, opera,
dance and circus.
Performance art has the artist as his own instrument, who, through his body, voice and
movements, make up the scenic shows. The training in performing arts allows artists to
know a set of techniques used in the creation, direction, assembly and interpretation of
shows.

Theater is the oldest and most traditional scenic art. The theater as it is known today
emerged in Ancient Greece with the Greek theater and how the first stages appeared,
formerly called arenas, formed by outdoor spaces with stone seats for spectators.
Dance
Dance is one of the main performing arts in the world. This artistic expression is marked by
the use of the body, which performs rehearsed or improvised movements. Usually
accompanied by a musical rhythm, the dance features rhythmic steps to the sound, beat of
music and involves the expression of feelings.
Opera
The opera uses some theatrical elements such as costumes, scenography and acting that
combine with instrumental music, singing and, at times, spoken dialogue. Opera
performances revolve around music and their lines are usually sung.
Circus
One of the main performing arts, the circus is an artistic expression that aims to entertain
and entertain spectators. It brings together artists of different abilities such as jugglers,
clowns, acrobats, tightrope walkers, tamers, among others.
There are several theatrical genres and the main ones are tragedy , comedy , tragicomedy
and drama . Representing the passions and human interests, the genre tragedy aims to
moralize a people or a society.
