ESSAY WRITING CONTEST
MECHANICS
S.Y. 2024-2025

I. Title
On-the-Spot Essay Writing Contest Mechanics for Reading Month
Celebration 2024

II. Objective
The Essay Writing Contest aims to provide participants with a platform to
showcase their spontaneous writing skills and share their thoughts on the
importance of reading in their lives.

III. Eligibility
A. The contest is open to all students from Grade 11 and 12.
B. Participants must be currently enrolled in Kaunlaran High School.
C. Each section is limited to one participant only.

IV. Contest Format


A. Date and Time
The contest will be held on November 8, 2024 from 11:20 AM to 12:20
PM (Grade 11) and from 12:20 to 1:20 PM (Grade 12).
B. Location
SHS Building, FBS Room 202.
C. Duration
Participants will have one hour to complete their essays.
D. Theme
The theme for the essay contest is "A Journey Through Words:
Inspiring Minds, Enhancing Literacy." Participants are encouraged to
reflect on the transformative power of reading.

V. Contest Procedure
A. Registration
Participants must register at the designated registration link
(https://forms.gle/DzimWz8mjdUmTZ748) by November 4, 2024.
B. Essay Prompt
A sealed envelope containing the essay prompt will be provided to
each participant during the contest proper.
C. Writing Materials
Participants must bring their own writing materials (e.g., pens,
pencils).
D. Writing Area
Participants will be assigned a designated area (FBS Room 202) to
write their essays in a conducive environment.
E. Proctoring
Proctors will be present to ensure fairness and integrity during the
contest.
F. Submission
Participants must submit their completed essays to the designated
submission area within the specified time limit.

VI. Essay Requirements


A. Essays must be written in English.
B. Word Count
Essays should be between 250-750 words.
C. Paper
Blank, lined paper will be provided.
D. Originality
Plagiarism will result in disqualification. All essays must be original
and written by the participant.

VII. Judging Criteria

D. Grammar and Mechanics (10%)

IX. Announcement of Winners


The winners will be announced on November 27, 2024 during the Awarding
Ceremony. Winners will also be notified via Facebook Messenger.

X. Additional Information
A. Participants are encouraged to arrive at least 10 minutes before the
contest begins.
B. Any form of cheating or misconduct will lead to immediate
disqualification.
C. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
