POWER POINT PRESENTATION- 1

AIM: To create a Power Point Presentation using the following tools


 Slide Layouts
 Inserting Text
 Word Art
 Formatting Text
 Bullets and Numbering
 Auto shapes
 Lines and Arrows
THEORY:
Slide Layouts:
"Layout" refers to the way things are arranged on a slide. A layout contains placeholders, which
in turn hold text such as titles and bulleted lists and slide content such as tables, charts, pictures,
shapes, and clip art. Each time you add a new slide, you can choose a layout for it in the Slide
Layout task pane. Layouts come in a whole range of configurations; you can also choose a blank
layout. To display the Slide Layout Pane(if it is closed), select Home> Layout.
Inserting Text:
If the slide layout includes text boxes, simply click on the text box to add text. To add a text box
to the slide, select Insert >Text Box from the menu bar and draw the text box with the mouse.
Word Art:
Add headlines in striking colors and shapes to your presentation using Word Art.
 Select WordArt from the Insert menu bar or click the Word Art button on the Drawing
toolbar.
 Choose a Word Art style from the listing and click OK.
 Enter the text in the Edit WordArt Text box and choose the font, size, and style for the
text. Click OK.
 Use the white box handles around the word art to resize it on the slide.
Formatting Text:
Select the text that will be formatted by highlighting the text either on the outline or on the slide.
Choose Font from the menu bar or right-click on the highlighted selection and select Font from the
popup shortcut menu or. Select a font face, size, style, effect, and color from the Font dialog box.
Bullets and Numbering:
Bullets and Numbering are useful tools to divide your slide into points. Bullets and Numbering
come in different styles, sizes, and colors. When you format a bullet or number, changes apply
only to current slide. To apply bullet or numbering formatting to all slides, make changes to
Slide Master.
To add/remove bullets:
 Highlight the paragraphs you want to add or remove bullets from.
 Click the Bullets icon on the Home menu bar.
To add /remove Numbering:
 Highlight the paragraphs you want to add or remove numbering from.
 Click the Numbering icon on the Home menu bar.
To change bullet style:

 Select Format > Bullet and Numbering.


 Click on the Bulleted Tab. Click on the bullet style you want
Auto shapes, Lines and Arrows:
The AutoShapes toolbar allows you to draw a number of geometrical shapes, arrows, flow chart
elements, stars, and other graphics on a slide.

Hyperlink :
To create a hyperlink to a custom show or a location in the current presentation
1. Select the text or object that you want to represent the hyperlink.
2. Click Insert Hyperlink.
Inserting Images:
To add a photo or graphic from a file:
 Select Insert >Picture >From File from the menu bar.
 Click the down arrow button on the right side of the Look in: window to find the image on your
computer.
 Highlight the file name from the list and click the Insert button
Clip Art :
To add a clip art image to a slide, follow these steps:
 Select Insert >Clip Art from the menu bar or click the Picture button on the Drawing toolbar.
 To find an image, click in the white box following Search for clips and enter keywords describing the
image you want to find.
Audio and Video:
To add sound to your presentation select Insert >Movies and Insert >Sound from Gallery or
Sound from File. Select a sound file and click OK.
Adding Sound to Animations
Some of the animations in PowerPoint, for example, the Flying Effect, already have sound built
into them. But most of the animations do not have sound effects.
To add a video to your presentation select Insert >Movies and Sounds >Movie from File or to
insert an animation from Microsoft's gallery choose Insert >Movies and Sounds >Movie from
Gallery. Select the video file and click OK.
Objects:
Different types of files can be added as an object into a power point slide
Tables and Charts:
One can add a table to a slide using the Insert Microsoft Word Table button on the Standard
Toolbar.
1. On the Standard Toolbar, click the Insert Microsoft Word Table button.
2. In the drop-down box, click and drag the pointer across the number of rows and columns you
want for your table.
3. Release the mouse button. The table work window will appear.
To add a chart to any slide, click the Insert Chart button on the Standard Toolbar.
When you insert a chart, a sample data sheet and corresponding bar chart will appear on your slide.
PowerPoint has included some sample data in the first four columns of the data sheet. The bars in the
chart are the graphical representation of the numbers in the data sheet.
Master Layouts
The slide master is an element of the design template that stores information about the template, including
font styles, placeholder sizes and positions, background design, and color schemes.The slide master's
purpose is to let you make a global change— such as replacing the font style— and have that change
reflected on all the slides in your presentation.
To Insert a Slide Master
On the View menu, point to Master, and then click Slide Master.
Types of views:
Power Point gives you four screen layouts for constructing your presentation in addition to the
Slide Show. You can select the page view by clicking the buttons just above the formatting toolbar and
the bottom of the page.
1. Normal View
This screen is split into three sections showing the presentation outline on the left, the slide in
the main window, and notes at the bottom.
2. Slide View
The slide view displays each slide on the screen and is helpful for adding images, formatting
text, and adding background styles.
3. Outline View
The presentation outline is displayed on the majority of the screen with small windows for the
slide and notes. This view is recommended for editing text.
4. Slide Sorter View
A small image of each slide is displayed in Slide Sorter view. Slides can easily be ordered and
sorted from this screen.
Click the Slide Show button to view the full-screen slide show.
Inserting – Background:
Backgrounds can be applied to slides, handouts, and notes. Background options include colors, gradients,
textures, patterns, and pictures. Select Design >Background styles from the menu bar.
Design Templates
Microsoft PowerPoint provides design templates that you can apply to a presentation to give it a fully
designed, professional look.. These are in the design menubar.
Hidden slides.
This option is used to hide the slides during presentation. Right click on the slide on the slides tab then
select hide option

 Custom Animation
 Auto Rehearsing.
Slide Transition: Transitions are effects that are in place when you switch from one.

How to apply?
 Select the slide that you want to transition
 Click the Animations tab
 Choose the appropriate animation or click the Transition dialog box.
Custom Animation: Slide animation effects are predefined special effects that you can add to objects on
a slide
How to apply?
 Select the object
 Click the Animations tab on the Ribbon
 Click Custom Animation
 Click Add Effect
 Choose the appropriate effect
Auto Rehearsing:
Rehearsing our presentation is important so that we know what to say and when to say it, as well as to
make sure that we do not run over or under our allotted time. Select the Slide Show - Rehearse Timings
menu command. This will start the show; rehearse exactly how we will run the show. After we have
finished with the last slide, the timing information box appears giving us the total elapsed time for our
presentation.
Animation Preview

To preview the animation on a slide:


 Click the Preview button on the Animations tab
