I. Essay

Directions: Explain comprehensively

1. “There is no correct leadership style. A manager must be able to adjust the style
on the situation.”

It is indeed true that there is no correct or perfect leadership style in school

management and administration. A manager's approach should change depending on
the situation. Managers must be able to adapt to several situations, solve a variety of
issues they face, and easily analyze and implement an acceptable style that best
matches every situation in the workplace, particularly with the people they manage.

Managers must include their subordinates by allowing them to share their

thoughts and ideas. He must cultivate positive relationships with his coworkers. Know
how to take notes for a daily activity and how to recognize and respond to the situations
that cause the most stress.

Change is something that managers must learn to deal with. Try to turn a bad
situation into a good one. Plan of time for future activities and assign them to the
appropriate people. Effective leaders understand that there is no one-size-fits-all
approach to managing people. Managers who want to increase their capacity to lead
people to greater levels of performance must adjust their leadership style to meet the
level of growth of the individuals they supervise.
2. “Decision making is universal among school managers/administrators.” Provide
an example to support your answer.

Making decisions is possibly the most crucial aspect of a school

administrator’s job. It is the most crucial aspect of the planning process. When
managers plan, they consider a variety of factors, including the goals that their
organization will pursue, the resources that will be used, and who will do each task.
The greatest power of administrators is the ability to make decisions. The future path
of action will be determined by the decisions he make. Learning how to make the
best judgments necessitates a variety of abilities, including problem-solving, logic,
and communication. Knowledge and insight are essential for making smart
decisions.

3. What motivates you in striving toward excellence in your work at school?

My love for children inspires me to teach, or that their enthusiasm for learning
inspires me to educate. Now, in order to exhibit greatness, you must be clear about
what you want to do in a real and measurable way. We may define excellence in
schools by comparing it to a set of values and objectives that students aim towards.
These are the things that pushed me to work harder. Another factor is my
commitment to achieve success that drives me to strive for excellence. Knowing that
my perseverance and hard work will help me attain greater professional success, as
well as connecting the school's mission and values with my own, is one approach to
enjoy life and work in an educational institution.

4. How do the individual culture and values affect organizational performance?

Organizational cultures cannot have a direct impact on performance since

people are the ones who perform. People must be influenced by cultures in some
way for their individual or collective performance to be affected. The organization's
culture shapes the atmosphere and determines the character of long-term strategies
that take the organization closer to its vision. Culture also influences the rules and
procedures that allow the organization to carry out its objective daily. Productivity
grows, school goals are supported, and business performance improves. These are
the three ways culture directly affects performance. If employees feel that they are a
part of the culture, they form positive ties with their employers.

organization most wishes to be and achieve in the long run.

6. How would distinguish between efficient management and effective

management? How can school administrators achieve excellence in their
organization?

Efficiency and effectiveness are both commonly used management terms. Yet,
while they sound similar and start with the same letters, they both mean different things.
In an organization, to achieve its goal, it required a good management concept when
assessing their performance. Efficient management may be described as the capacity
of an organization to do a task with the least amount of wasted time, money, and effort,
as well as performance competency. The degree to which something is successful in
delivering a desired result is characterized as effectiveness, success. Managers must
understand how each has an impact on the organization. Because efficiency
management is all about focusing on the process, the "means" of accomplishing things
are prioritized, whereas effectiveness management is all about reaching the "end" aim.
Another point to consider is that efficiency is concerned with the existing state or "status
quo," therefore planning and adding or removing resources could disrupt the current
state of efficiency. Effective management, on the other hand, managers believes that in
achieving the end goal and so considers any elements that may alter in the future.
Discipline and rigor are now necessary for effective management. Effective
management, on the other hand, maintains the long-term goal in mind and is thus more
adaptive to the changing environment.

It is easier for school administrators to maintain a culture of excellence than it is

to build one. Setting the tone and ensuring broad offer requires enlightened leadership.
The personal benefits to faculty, staff, and students of being in a unit with a strong
productive, and collaborative environment are significant and worthy of effort, and a
critical mass of unit members must aspire to excellence. No leader can create this
cultural shift alone. But at the same time, no unit can create or sustain this shift without
committed leadership. As a leader, and members of an organization and mutually
supportive of one another’s success. Leaders influence culture consciously and
unconsciously through word and action. The leader must lead in establishment of a
vision that the organization own. Creating such a vision can be a powerful tool for
establishing credibility as an effective leader and it will give excellent result to the
institution. Leaders know how to allocate resources fairly, based on clear principles
known to all. Provide guidance, feedback, and encouragement for all the members of
organization.
7. Explain creativity as a concept and the role it can play in decision making.

When making decisions, creativity is important since it helps in the generation

of various options and the discovery of a wonderful solution that will support an
organization’s overall success. Creativity empowers the decision maker such as
school administrators or managers to assess and comprehend the problem more
thoroughly that others can’t see. The ability to integrate or combine concepts in fresh
ways is referred to as creativity, and its distinctive alternatives must be regarded
valuable to others.

8. Which of Fayols 14 principles of management do you observe which is used by

your organization today? Cite at least five (5) principles and discuss how they are
implemented in your school?

The management principles of Fayol includes division of work for efficiency of

workers, authority and responsibility for proper control, discipline as a behavior, unity
of command in a top to down approach, unity of direction that should be
predetermined, subordination of individual interest in favor of organizational. Fayol's
management concepts have helped our school organization a lot in achieving
outstanding results. Like for instance, our principal shows that she has the authority
and responsibility to the whole system of school operation. She also demonstrates
the unity of directions that provides directions that would guide all employees with
their respective role. She has been able to specialize our tasks and we work more
efficiently because of division of labor. In terms of discipline, she provides a
process, have routines, take corrections correctively and she always walk her talk.
She also practices the principle of unity of command that as teachers we receive
orders and instructions from the office and that is the school principal.
